The first time you switched parts was so freaking seamless that I had to rewind and listen for where the notes crossed paths and bass became melody. You're a clever carrot, Dave; cleverer, I reckon, than I can even see.
wow!! you’ll always be one of my favourite alto saxophonist of today!! 👍🏼 hope to understand and play jazz someday. thank you for being an inspiration.
This is phenomenal! Your playing and your sound are delicious. I’m just a little freaked out because so many of your musician friends look just like you. 😀
Nutritious candy, my teeth hurt, it's so sweet, my brain hurts,it's so sweet. Now....practice. maybe practice is my pain relief. THANKS, Scott 'the cure' Pollack. I'm gonna call you the doctor, your music IS the cure. lol. Thanks slot. And we'll be giving. Thanks again. ....
My biggest influences are ,Rollins,Dexter and Stitt I want the sound of Dexter with the lines of stitt Dexter Stitt or sonny Gordon if you will lol , also I played this video on my tv and started to realize my room started to STANK such an amazing video!
Sounds great, Dave! Thanks for posting this one! I learned Donna Lee on alto and am currently shedding it on tenor. Have you heard Dexter's version here on youtube?

Hi! Does anyone know how to achieve this kind of shot? I mean what tipe of camera, lenses, lighting, etc... would be needed. I really like those warm, matte-like colors, which seems to come from a specific style...
Thanks! I use a Panasonic G85, shot in 4k at 24fps. For lighting I just use 1 key light - a soft box, at a 45 degree angel to my face. They key is to set ISO really low, so it gives a more moody look (and minimal noise/grain). From there, i color correct and color grade in Final Cut Pro to get the colors exactly how i want them
Let's not forget that everytime we use the term "BAM", we ignore all the music coming from the black musicians from elsewhere on the american continent, like all the black latin music. Maybe it's because I'm not from the USA, and I'm not used to seeing the term "american" as describing from the United States, but I think it's a mistake and the term should be modified to better acknowledge all the other black american music coming from outside of the states.
@@bebopshulang Right, but from what I've seen people use the term BAM as a replacement for jazz. If we use it in the same way we use term Occidental music however, I'm 100% ok with that
Make sure to share this around - it's a free way to support! Also, who are some of your biggest musical influences? Let me know!
My biggest influences are, no doubt: Dexter, Trane, Chet, Bill Evans (p), Cannonball, Clifford
Awesome! I'll be featuring 2 of them this week!
@@DavePollack 🙏
Hmmmm, probably Stan Getz, Joshua Redman, Chris Potter, and Chad LB. Nice playing as always, Dave!
My biggest influence is Sonny Stitt thanks Dave I'll share this on my Facebook sawasdee krub!
Charlie Parker was my idol in High School(and still to this very day). Love Donna Lee, beautifully played Dave!
Same thing for me - thank you so much!
The way you quoted back home in Indiana was sick!
Thanks - Bird used the changes to Indiana for Donna Lee after all!
Dave Pollack Yeah learning about contrafacts was a pretty wild experience that I still remember to this day.
the true way to write a bebop song is soloing on another song
Dustin Pace, oh yeah that's right Donna Lee's a contrafact of Indiana!
Nice performance! I am a guitarist but I love Charlie Parker music, especially Donna Lee😀.
Take care and stay healthy!
Can't get this out of my head. Donna Lee is definitely my favorite bop standard.
It's an amazing tune!
"I know I can speak for myself and every saxophone player ever that charlie parker is the best there ever was"

Might be cooler for us students to see the horn as you play along, so we can see technique, and also more fun, great videos!

I found your channel when I wanted to listen Dona lee by alto saxophone as I started to practice it . Where can I the music score?

Yup - Donna Lee is a contrafact on Indiana changes
His 100th birthday is coming up, u know?
Yup! Him and Clark Terry have their 100th this year
donna lee nelson rangel piccolo solo
do u even breathe 😳
Haha, yep
Altissimo licks always so dirty 😅
Hah thanks!
I thought miles wrote Donna lee
no one really knows because miles claimed ownership long after charlie parker’s unfortunate passing.
I'm just playing songs this week that are related to my influences - not necessarily their own compositions.
Got that Trump face-color-thing going on? Doesn't seem to affect the awesome playing so it's fine with me.
Combination of being outside a lot recently and the color grade

#BAM means Black American Music so it includes all music blacks have done, not just jazz.
