Agnosticism is about what it's possible to know, not about what you personally believe. You can be an agnostic atheist or an agnostic believer, but admitting to the truth that you don't know doesn't actually answer the question of what you personally believe. For example neither you nor I know if aliens exist, but it's not possible to have no opinion whatsoever, you either believe aliens are out there or you don't, admitting you can't "know" for a fact doesn't change that, and the same is true of god(s). I think it's good that Neil leaves it at "i don't know" for the sake of civility, but if he holds no active belief in any god(s) and at the same time admits he doesn't know, that is the same position as agnostic atheism.

And, if the "Aces are in their places," like Neil, doing what he's good at doing, being a science educator, we wouldn't have to worry about electing the wrong people. We'd all be smart enough to insist upon our Government representation being at LEAST a one-to-one reflection of the constituencies for which they serve. So, the best way to have the best politicians is to be literate enough in practical common sense to insist we only elect the people who are the best people for the job. And, that's on US.

I am a bit disappointed that Neil never had the urge or seen the need to directly criticize the former administration. It was more than obvious what he actually thought about Trump but I'm surprised he never said it out loud and clearly. But for a man who's so clear about his views and convictions, he should have been more clearer on one of the most important social events of our times, and say it out loud. When I want to to listen to a perfect description of Trump, I periodically go to Sam Harris's podcast where he had 2 rants about Trump. One before he became POTUS and the other when he was one. It is a brilliant take down of a simple, uneducated and vindictive man. In cases like this I miss not having Christopher Hitchens with us. A very intelligent answer to the question of "Who" created the Universe. The answer did not negate the fact that a WHO OR A WHAT IS THE TRUTH. The problem faced by many people when we use the word "God" is concept of what God is! Something Created the Universe, it did not come into existence by itself. Not even a leaf can come into existence by itself. Whatever brought our Universe into existence, I am happy to call "My Maker, My Creator." The Quran: " We shall show them the Signs, in the heavens, in the Earth and within themselves, until it becomes manifest unto them that this Book is the Truth from the Lord of all the Worlds."

In this Country, it's supposed to be the people who have the power. And, Neil deGrasse Tyson is doing the best thing he can be doing to better this Country, by educating the population!
The better educated the population, the more inoculated we are from those who would try to BS us.
Basic, fundamental scientific literacy is the most effective way to avoid being taken advantage of, or being CONNED.
And, if the "Aces are in their places," like Neil, doing what he's good at doing, being a science educator, we wouldn't have to worry about electing the wrong people.
We'd all be smart enough to insist upon our Government representation being at LEAST a one-to-one reflection of the constituencies for which they serve.
So, the best way to have the best politicians is to be literate enough in practical common sense to insist we only elect the people who are the best people for the job.
And, that's on US.

I am a bit disappointed that Neil never had the urge or seen the need to directly criticize the former administration. It was more than obvious what he actually thought about Trump but I'm surprised he never said it out loud and clearly. I'm sure it wasn't for the lack of courage, or because of the fear of the concequences, (becoming a target of Trump's tweets). But for a man who's so clear about his views and convictions, he should have been more clearer on one of the most important social events of our times, and say it out loud. When I want to to listen to a perfect description of Trump, I periodically go to Sam Harris's podcast where he had 2 rants about Trump. One before he became POTUS and the other when he was one. It is a brilliant take down of a simple, uneducated and vindictive man. In cases like this I miss not having Christopher Hitchens with us. Now there was a guy who spoke his mind and never cared about the concequences of his sharp words.

The answer did not negate the fact that a WHO OR A WHAT IS THE TRUTH. The problem faced by many people when we use the word "God" is concept of what God is! Something Created the Universe, it did not come into existence by itself. Not even a leaf can come into existence by itself.
Whatever brought our Universe into existence, I am happy to call "My Maker, My Creator."

There are SOOOOOO many issues with the US electoral process, so much so that propagandists assert that Russia plans to somehow manipulate the 2020 election. How could this be if our elections were truly legitimate?
Yet I can provide article after article about the NUMEROUS issues with the 2016 primaries/general, 2018 midterms, and pretty much multiple elections before those too. Our election system needs either a massive upgrade or complete overhaul.

The society is very much under American influence than anything else (which I believe is a good sign in many ways) The reason I said you as a scientist are loved by people here. The mindset in India is getting there to scientific research and innovations. And people know you, they relate to your thinking and so I said probably you will have more fans here in India than probably anywhere else... ( this probably even because of the high density of population😂😂😂😂😂😂) too many people! But yes we appreciate your participation in the scientific process and we definitely want to make sure to get people out of darkness of religious mindsets. Though most Hindus here are inclined to spirituality and not religion mostly. But Asia has been typically hijacked by religious bent on minds.
