*- Did you get the Foot Pedals, Matt? **1:35*
I totally forgot to mention them. I'm going to go back up when there is no fire hazard and torch the fenders off so I can get the pedals.
@@PacificNorthwestHillbilly .
*- Good. Smart.*
*- Your videos are always a great treat for me.*
@@PacificNorthwestHillbilly are you going to rescue the old tracked tractor. that looked cool
@@chrisoakey9841 I hope he does
I came here to ask the same thing and yours was the top (pinned) comment. +1
THANK YOU Matt!! I really appreciate all the work you've done to rescue that winch for me! I completely understand what it takes to do that, and it's NEVER easy! I am in your debt my friend! Can't wait to get it! I'm EXCITED put it back to work!
(For all those wondering about my 955 "Old Red"... It's not finished, and I'm still collecting parts, but I I'll be getting back on that old tractor soon!)
It's been a minute since you worked on the old boy, I hope To see progress soon. It was the project that brought me to your channel. That would be awesome.
can't wait to see red back
Hey Matt, I didn’t know it actually came. With a winch. It’s gonna make Old Red much more useful!
You are not done with your project and you are helping someone else; what a man. I am glad that you at least got some one to load it for you. You have to find toys with parts that are not so big and heavy. Keep up the good work. I can not wait until your dozer is done. 😃😃😃
here I was hoping to see the engine-hoist on a road trip, but he had to get all fancy and get help lifting it ;-)
Great that Matt of Salvage Workshop and you are collaborating. He's one that I subscribe to and follow.
BTW, reaching the end of your videos always leave me wanting more.
its so cool that they are collabing
Nice save, you were very fortunate to get the winch off with out a whole lot of trouble. Thanks for the ride along sir.
Diesel Creek is another great Matt from PA. He also loves to rescue / restore all types of old iron and other various equipment..
I’m sure Matt appreciates it very much! He’s a good guy, just like you! Hope you got some parts you needed also. Thanks for the video.
I just spent 27 minutes watching some dude work on an old tractor....and enjoyed it greatly!
That's Marty T territory. Of course he would have gotten all of them running and driven them home.
Definitely looks like it could be made to work you worked hard on getting that off lol I was surprised you didn’t get the whole machine for parts lol thanks for sharing
"One of the other 30 Matts" LOL! I guess I fall into that category. I am a follower of Salvage Workshop myself. Great find and a great project to support! Thanks for sharing. Oh, you better save that little Oliver crawler also.
“Old Red” was the inspiration that got me started on my first tractor project, a 1950 Ford 8n.
Challenging but you met the challenge and overcame. Great job.
Thanks for sharing.
"out here" in Oregon back in the 1960s through the 1970s, just about every small 'gippo' logging outfit had a fourth hand a D2 or D4, purchased for very little and barely running, patched up with the bare minimum just to keep it on the job. They were not 'collectable' and often abandoned when one last failure could not be scabbed with a weld or cheep field repair.
It's a pity that you didn't find that winch before you rebuilt yours. It looks like it has done next to no work. I will look forward to watching Matt Installing it on Big RED. Thanks for another great video. If we don't save this old gear it will be lost for ever and generations to come won't be able to see the machinery that built our world.
It has a pony, Grab the pony! Even if it's trashed it's got parts.
Nice to hear that Matt Salvage is still planning on getting Red together. I have not seen him post anything about it in a long time.
I am stoked you're helping Matt from Salvage Workshop, I don't know how you two got together but I've been following Matt long before I found you. Both of you are great bloggers. Cheers from OZ.
Some of those other crawlers would be great restoration projects
You sir, have my admiration for your perseverence and work ethics.
Good morning, just found your channel and really love these old machines.
Keep up with the great work
The D4 is looking very good , cant wait for the next episode
Thanks Matt, fun (for us 😊) project. Love Salvage Workshop too. I’m sure Matt will help you out too.
Thanks for helping ol red out Matt
Outstanding effort on your part for the guy on Salvage Workshop. I enjoy both of your UA-cam shows.
Nice save, EPIC upcycling.
Your a good human that's allot of work for a favor.
Really nice how you're helping a fellow UA-camr.
Myself I'd have hauled off the whole machine with the winch and blade off moved seperately then part the rest out to others looking for parts to restore their dozers.
I can't understand why people leave equipment out like that to just rust away.
Most enjoyable video,thanks.
Awesome , glad you saved the winch and glad you showed respect to the old iron by covering the trans opening . You never know when someone will need that one single piece
I love to see one you tuber helping out another one! There's not many of us "Dirty Hands" guys left in the world today! You can't get a 1-1/4 nut off with a cell phone App! LOL! NICE JOB MATT!
Lol cool to see the cross-over/like minded folk helping each other out. Two of my favorite channels.
Think Workshop Salvage Matt owes you a beer....that was a proper ball-ache to get off!
I do wish I had your patience, though....i would have had a major hissy fit trying to undo some of those nuts and bolts..
Good job, Matt...😊👍
Beautiful valley there ! Great find on the wench !
that little tractor would make a future project for you and the kids.
You're a good man, Matt! You made that look easy....
How much fun. Thanks for the entertainment!
I need ratcheting vice-grip like you're using at 4:05
In 2006 I and a friend from High School rebuilt an original Willamette Ersted double-drum logging winch that was mounted on a 1931 Caterpillar Model 60 Diesel Tractor/Dozer. Knuckle busting work and talk about a heavy winch. But once we got the thing running it was VERY powerful. Seeing you rebuild your Hyster D4 and pull the one from the dozer in the woods brought back memories. Thanks for another excellent video.
You have got to get that little tractor back to your place. That thing looks like it would be so much fun to play with
Nice to recycle what you can off an old machine, Good job Matt 👍👌
nice video. great piece of land.
Kudos to ya! You're a one of the good guys.
I admire your perseverance!
Bushwhacking parts! Sweet! Nice to collab with Salvage Workshop, solid channel.
Your D-4 looks really good!
I would grab both part the cat out and restore the other old one it looks kind of like a rare piece of equipment
Looks like the winch is a good one . I'm a big salvage work shop fan . It's cool that fond him a good winch. Did you get the pedals for your machine ? Can't wait to see yours run and work again. Great video.
Really enjoyed the video Matt! Hope UA-cam has helped offset the cost of saving these machines!
get all the hard work done while you are relatively young. It just gets harder as you age! Good job!
When one gets older one needs be smarter than strong. We got hydraulics. Peace ✌️🇺🇲
Nice quick work. Can't wait to see the progress on the D4 😎
That D4 would have been a good spare parts machine for your D4 Matt those tracks look good and it would have a lot of good useable parts
I'm probably going back at some point in the future and grabbing a few things, it's only a few minutes away. Plus I offered to help him get the other D4 up and running....
@@PacificNorthwestHillbilly - That's good of you. Getting the predecessor to his D4 running might be even more interesting - 'Boldly going where no tracked vehicle mechanic has gone before'
"It's just a little snug" (4 aneurisms later) "that's just lovely"
Thanks for the Video and for bringing us along for the adventure, I love to see this sort of collaboration to save old iron.
The seat...the fuel tank..the radiator cap..foot pedals...tracks.. Get it all.
That was a major project, dedication wins.
Matt @ Salvage Workshop is awesome. I have watching for years and love his channel
Did you get your peddles ?
I'm sure your friend will be happy with the winch nice one dude :)
That misty background looks so picturesque, so scenic, calm and tranquil, adds a lot of atmospherics to the video, just sayin!
great video MATT you must be tempted to buy up all the old iron there . CHEERS
I like the ratchet noise with the vice grips!
Great to see you again, darn let get that old TD6 running or moving around.... :)
You make my sad days better days.
The least expensive way I have found to ship such an item is via the Fastenal company. You can drop it off at a local Fastenal store, they put it on a pallet and ship it on their trucks that are moving their own stuff. If you and Matt have them near by, check it out.
Never heard of that…….will keep that in mind. I have shipped car seats via Greyhound bus though 👍
I watch salvage workshop & he's got some nice old equipment that's just been setting for years & he got them running again the last one that I saw that he got was a old grader & it barely fit on the trailer that he took to recover it,just to bad that he didn't have a rig & a lowboy trailer,he could've used the rig to pull the grader on the lowboy trailer by chain or by a winch if he had one on the back of the rig behind the cab & nice job rebuilding your dozer
It's nice that you're working with Matt. I've been following him and wondered what happened to his Big Red.
The first few minutes I thought this was going to be a Halloween special and the axe murderer was going to come out of the mist at any moment! I really enjoy the videos mate, thank you
You are a good man doing that for Matt Salvage.
I believe there is a winch on a junked D4 a half a mile from me. I'll check on it.
I wish I could find Parts TD-9 crawlers. I know they're out there, just hidden in the bushes. Great find!
Man the last 5 seconds of the video... Your D4 looks awesome! Cant wait.
Good progress Matt, i really enjoy enjoy to see every moment to save the mechine.
I think the winch weighs more than the 70 Lb. UPS limit !😃
Good you took time out to help Matt, maybe Big Red will back to the top of his to do list.
and then there is working in brambles, wet ground, and misty..you Sir, have our respect..
Dude, Matt!, you rock it! Well done.
Winches seem to be very abundant in your area, unfortunately I don't see many in the midwest. Thanks Matt!
Don't worry, you're next on my list! A chicken in every pot, and a winch on every running D4!
@@PacificNorthwestHillbilly lol you may need to send a truck load of them, I may have made a deal on yet another D4 😁
How are the track chains, the track pads look quite good.
Great Video! I watch you and Salvage Workshop! You 2 are both great young men to watch work! Keep up the good work and keep sending out the Videos!
Great video as always , thank you
excellent recovery, his shop is getting there to receive the winch
Oh man...excellent find...he's going to love this!
You’re good people sir, can’t wait for your next video.
"Whoa it's rusty in there"
Matt from Salvage Workshop: "Hold my WD 40"
Another great video, thanks for posting!
Good job keep up the good work I’ll keep watching god bless
That was a great and interesting video! Beautiful views up there too.
That’s super cool. I have a 44 cletrac HG68 I just finished restoring. Very similar to the one you found
Interesting about the Cletrac crawler. Any prospects on saving it?
I’d love to have that old Cletrac! Shame it’s on the other end of the country…..😢
Yep that cletrac has the same Hercules engine as a BF Avery tractor.
Man your pushin it with that trailer. Hope you don’t have far to go.
That looks amazing.
Very Nice Salvage ! Someone will be happy with it ! As always ! Thanks for sharing ! And I So wanting to see your next video .
Well, it’s a good thing you’ve young. Fighting for every nut and bolt all rusted up/down whatever. 👍👍
Can"t wait,good work Matt.
I can't believe you left that in🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The two guys I watch on UA-cam know each other small world
Other crawler looks like a Cletrac. You should save it!! they are collector items.
I thought the same, maybe the Oliver version.
Man you’re out there doing heavy machinery work with a crescent wrench. Can I please buy you a beer?
Too bad that it takes so much room and heavy lifting to keep this old iron some place to preserve it. Happy that you and others are doing your part to keep some machines working!
Matt’s last name is Salvage. His You Tube is Salvage Workshop. Confusing as he is always salvaging something. Glad to hear he is still trying to resurrect “Old Red”!
another great vid Matt, wish the UK had oppertunities like that, no one save's old plant on there farms here they just scrap everything so the chances of us finding treasures like that will be extremely rare, make your vid all the more interesting.
