Legend mate, I'm watching this from Bunnings Rocky standing in front of that Akorn Jr and I think I'm gonna buy it! Pizzas would be sick, gf will love that!
Nice one. Bought the akorn about a month ago and absolutely love it. Have the same trolly from Kmart as well :D which I used previously to keep baby supplies and now repurposed to keep bbq accessories. Is that the heat deflector you used pizza stone?
do you have and opinion on the ceramic vs steel kamado style cooker? about to pull the triggger on one and forgetting price as an issue which construction would you choose and why? kind regards
@@LownSlowBasics awesome, cheers i stumbled across your weber bbq brisket video and have experimented twice to reasonable effect in the last couple days. was really helpful and somewhat made it look like i knew what i was doing lol, wednesday will be the test. youre a radelaidean too yeah? will keep using your vids as a reference, cheers for the feed back
Hey is that a pizza stone that’s sold separately, it looks like the smoking stone that comes with the big akorn? Can you use the smoking stone as a pizza stone?
love your vids mate, tried this myself last night with a jumbuck pizza stone on my akorn jr and within a minute or so my bases were completely burnt. any idea on why this may be? followed temps very closely but it seems my stone was far too hot! i’m stumped
Thanks for this. I want to ask as I made a pizza and it was very Smokey and didn’t taste at all nice. I noticed when you removed your pizza, the video didn’t appear to have a lot of smoke. Did you only use coals ? Secondly is the pizza meant to taste Like a wood fire pizza ?
Hey there! No I didn't use any smoking wood, if you do I'd only recommend a very small chunk! If you check out @smoky pastures bbq youtube channel. He turns his Kamado into a real wood fire pizza oven by using real wood splits stacked up. Worked a treat!

Thanks mate, great little unit hey. Yeah mate it doubles as a pizza stone :)
@@LownSlowBasics I rekon if you got a larger stone and drop the temp a tiny bit you could get a crispyer base without charring the sides too much.

You can get either, I like the steel as I'm so worried about cracking ceramic

@@LownSlowBasics thank you very much! Your one looked amazing. I’m a novice griller but will Take your tips on board.
Is that thing in the acorn, the one you put the pizza on, made of wood?
Its a ceramic stone made specifically for the Akorn.
Pizza stone goes on 3 tabs under the grate
That looks the barra
