Even from a viewership perspective the ultra rig is more immersive, which I think speaks volumes. Fast lap times more than likely doesn’t correlate with immersion. Consistency on the hand I believe does.
Great vid! Pretty obvious imo that driving with the motion rig and the higher-end pedals on a more regular basis would undoubtedly result in consistently faster times. It just needs more seat time to become "second nature", turning caution brought on by all the physical cues into confidence.
"What do you think Will?"
"Yeah."
That's some high quality content creation right there! :D (Just kidding, still love you guys!!!) :)
Dude this was a great change up! Both you mates are entertaining and I like the change up between you to very complimentary
Interesting vid Tom (and thanks Will for the loan ☺️) I have a dd wheel, SFX 100 motion, CSP v2s and VR CV1 - in Assetto in VR I can post same lap times as when I pop to my friends and use a G25, g25 pedals, static rig and VR on reverb G1 ... I spent 10 years on g25 and have muscle memory, but I soooooo much more enjoy my motion rig and direct drive as immersion level is through the roof, over and above all else re lap times. I’m in it for the immersion - the feel of driving a real car - and I applaud the pair of you for bringing us all on the journey of discovery that is sim racing. My personal wheels are a Lotus Elise - if I had to give up sim or Real car - the real car would be gone - as i get more smiles per mile racing my friends in VR than on the road (never thought I’d say that ) - keep up the great content guys - and share some benchmarks on Assetto Corsa with sol and CSP on the monster rig in VR - I have a G2 and am on the fence re 3080 or 3090. (Upgrade from gtx1080). Help push me off the fence ☺️👍🏼
Thanks mate. We’ll share some benchmarks soon. Just want to make sure stability is rock solid first.
Wow I forgot you were using the new traction system, that slight movement I picked up on last time looks like it’s gone and this just looks amazing (not that it didn’t look amazing before)
I noticed the same difference between the two. You were much smoother on Will's rig, but your rig you just threw it into the corners with no regards. Very interesting though
“That sounds like good science to me.” Said Tom. Hahahahaha!
16:11 .... Gone wide, gone deep.....
... I can dig it
I'd like to see you drift on that rig using Assetto Corsa. I'm curious how to motion will react to it.
My motion rig can legitimately hurt me if I crash and don't have crash filters setup, so I can only say that it makes me slower because I take less chances, but still makes it an overall more unique experience with both flying and driving.
It took me a while time to tune in motion, it made me a slower initially but a lot more consistent. Eventually I settled on using less effect, just enough to give plenty of information but not so much that it was actually jarring - it's fun to turn everything up but only for a few laps. I literally send it over high curbs anymore because it is traumatic!
It would be cool in a future video to see the motion platform slide around when your just road raceing
Should put those laps through the VRS analyser to confirm the differences.
I think it's only fair that Tom gets a triple 65" 4K system with seat mover and traction loss platform.
Love the new setup! It looks really immersive.
@Boosted Media - You should consider 8 x Buttkickers in chassis & extensions mode on Tom's rig. It would make a great motion-less simulator, provide great simulator feedback, and might be great content for the channel. Cheers!
We’re actually planning on doing something along these lines soon :)
You could do a side-by-side video against each other on this track! BTW you guys got me sim racing, just got a Next Level F-GT, with G29 to start.👍
And ofc Nordshleife my fav track :D
LOL I love the RACE FACE!
Great video. It just proves more money doesn't make you a faster driver. Remember it took you 3 laps to beat 7 minutes where in the other rig you said you had been driving for 4 hours and still didn't crack 7 minutes.
Yep very true. To clarify though, the 4 hours wasn’t all spent doing this car and track combo.
Did not expect that. So compare to a thrustmaster t150 please. Thats what I have and use a desk mount, but it is a blast. Love
compare a 50k dollar rig to a thrustmaster t150?
@@handrewmillan4293 I just love it all. The tech, the ability to grow. Why not? I love these vids because it educates and doesn't mess around.
@@DONKODONK lol
Looks so immersive that I reckon you might end up with a van man tan!
Lmao!
Seems like your own static rig's pedals have a lighter force required in the settings than Will's rig. Adjusting the load cell force limit a little stiffer helps me a ton on this cup car. (I have the CSL elite with load cell)
Loved this! Great comparison! I have the same ish rig you have at home (even your rim) - love a go in the big boys toys one thou!!
Just a thought, how about simhub with some base shakers, I use them in chassis mode and it does give you a little extra without having to get a second mortgage and loose alot of space.
Waiting on some parts for this for the past few months ;)
Just race each other already!!
Tom should have his P plates on show in the big rig
Questions: Weather, Track, Humidity all set the same? Car Set Up Exactly the same - Tire pressure, ride height, Rake, wing, camber, Brake Bias( I know some rigs actually due to pedal set require/want different bias), etc.....?
Thx for the comparisons/over view!!
Apologize in advance if this was all noted/confirmed and I missed it!!
Yep. Setup of the session snd the car was identical
@@boostedmedia copy
That was great. Really interesting cheers lads. Blinder
35s are too small and 65s are too big! what size is the perfect for imersion like 65s but without the big car sindrome keeping the 1:1 ratio compared to real life?
Great video.... sim looks amazing!
Have you guys tried throwing the TrackIR back on your head, but killing Pitch, Yaw and Roll and only allowing X, Y, Z motion since you’re so immersive my wrapped in those monitors?
I tried it briefly. Looks cool for the driver but doesn’t work at all for recording content. Makes it look like the seat is flying all over the pace.
@@boostedmedia makes sense! Thanks for compromising for our sake. Cheers
Okay, enjoyable video but TEAMWORK is the DREAMWORK
Why didn't BOTH of you do the comparison?
Thoughts:
If you have more cues from motion then that may help consistency but at the same time as pointed out if you're not being moved around you can focus possibly more on corner entry and apex? Also what feedback is being used via tactile as if configured well that could be used to improve wheel slip with oversteer/understeer and braking. You don't necessarily need motion for additional cues as to how the car is handling.
Nice comparison.
Should have done it on a mix of short, medium and long tracks to establish a wider variety of benchmarks.
Nice video Tom. I think this needs more testing.
Very interesting comparison. 👍
could you comment on the physical nature of the two rigs.? could you drive your rig longer than WIlls without getting as tired ?
Cheers awesome performance mate.
Are you guys using simhub on the Cube Control GT-X? I have the GSX-2 but I don’t have a screen layout like that. I really like the one you guys are using.
Awesome video keep up the awesome work.
lOVED IT!
Top science 👍
v3 fanatec pedals compared to heusinkeveld ultimates.....thats the biggest laptime/consistent difference.....v3 pedals need joycalib on 70 %, thahts why you lock up
great equipment
I NOTICED THAT FANATEC MOUNTS WERE DIFFERENT TO THE REVIEW MOUNTS ON YOUR BUILD VIEDO OF TRACK RACER RIG REGARDS JOHN
Using Simcore UM1 mount.
WHY ARE YOU SHOUTING?
Price comparison between the two rigs please include pc price and spec
People get upset when I do that. Lol
@@boostedmedia yeah but it’s useful to know the price difference to say you are better on a rig that’s say 50k more then the other is useful to know
Tesla are selling different fragrances with their cars when you buy them, they are called Elon Musks
LMAO! Excellent!
I'm sure it was meant as a joke but I would not be surprised if it's TRUE we are living in some strange times .
Im wondering how will was feeling u using his rig without gloves 🤣🤣
Me just chilling with one 34 inch screen. I can also move my rig to the Livingroom and use it on my 65 inch 4K oled tv
Do the big-ass screens produce heat? Is there a problem where sitting surrounded by these screens the cockpit gets very hot?
Yeah it’s impossible without air con.
Schweeeet
Can you race double decker buses?
but can it run crysis
what bezel kit are you using?
Two ROG kits. Video coming soon
what are the 35 inch monitor
BenQ Ex3501R
The wind sim seems a bit pointless when driving a car with a windscreen.... just saying.
1. Closed cabin cars still have passive ventilation.
2. It’s about providing your brain with cues for immersion, not necessarily simulating exactly what happens in real life.
@@boostedmedia It's cool dude, I'm not having a go. Just typical British commentary. I'm very impressed with the set up, way more immersive than what I use.
All good mate. Didn’t take it as you having a go :) sorry if my reply came arepas abrupt. Lots of comments to answer :)
@@Sleeper_Service Fun fact: even NASCAR, which doesn't even have a left window in, has a fresh air vent ON this very left side. Additionally modern racers get even more cooling by suit integrated water cooling.
So point being: even cars with windscreen, heck even those without a side window, put in additional effort to cool the driver.
But what boosted said - it's something you can't really explain until you felt it - it adds so much more understanding of speed since simulation sucks at actually simulating properly. It can't be really explained but more people should give it a go.
In VR we also use big fans to mimick aiflow. It gives the body additional sense of direction and presence in a real world. If you can try it. Maybe you'll like it so much you'll build yourself a little wind simulator as well. :)
This is my thought as well unless the car is convertible but as they pointed out im sure is is still effective for immersion just hard to unserstand how without actually useing the rig
Ive done a 6:42.097. Get gud
what Sim is this ?
The sector times popping up on screen look like iracing but I’m not certain
Iracing.
it is iracing
@@boostedmedia is it better than assetto corsa ? on the same course
@@boostedmedia yer! Is it better than assetto Corsa ,looks smooth
What sim game is this?
Iracing
this is to extreme, triple 65, not posible to use that kind of big screen, with
big distance monitor in front, and compete to be the fast and win in top
splits, its not natural feal, i try and cant be fast, something
missing, couse in real life your head is not that far, its feal like you
are seating in the back seat and drive, more realistic and feal to drive is 35
Sort out your clicky paddle shifts
lol... Any suggestions on how to overcome the laws of physics?
