I am Mrs. Macci and I had to smile when I heard you call it cowboy coffee. When I grew up in Germany in the 1940s and 50s my family made their coffee this way every morning. How my mother would have liked hearing it called cowboy coffee and here we lived in a small town in Upper Franconia in nortern Bavaria.
Congrats on the sponsor, it's great to see small business grow (and a UA-cam channel is as much of a business as anything else). Everyone loves a good cup of coffee.
Thank you and yes I definitely treat my YT channel as a small business and great to see things moving forward. Sometimes it can seem like a lot of work for little reward, so when opportunities like this come along it really makes it worth it. Jason
Made cowboy coffee many times and just waited for the grounds to settle. Never knew about the cold water trick gonna have to try it. Learned something new! Thanks.
I started watching the Cowboy for iron skillet seasoning and cooking. Watched the Cowboy coffee video and have been making it on the stove at home ever since. I really enjoy the process and the quality taste. Great video.
Camping, drinking coffee, hanging with the dogs, hiking, hunting, reading, testing gear, making vids.... hard work for sure but living the dream. Well done Sir.
It definitely is living the dream, but no doubt it isn't all fun and games and definitely requires a ton of hard work to make a dream like this come to fruition. Jason
Jason, I just finished watching Cowboy Kent Rollins making biscuits 'n gravy. He is funny and very entertaining...and one helluva cook. I'm going to Barnes & Noble to buy his latest book plus others if available.
Cowboy coffee sure is a great way to make it. Been using cowboy Kent's way for a few months now and like it. Nothing like coffee in the woods with a fire going.
When I was a pre-teen, my dad showed me how to make, what he called 'Hobo' coffee. Same way you make your Cowboy Coffee. It brought back good memories. Thank you!
I love black coffee, only one thing better than black coffee, that's a Saturday upload from primal Outdoors, great footage Jason, just wish I was there.... Colin.
I did this with my new pot this year on the boy scout campouts for the adults. works great. I also learned from Kent Rollins. Nice video. love winter campouts
I will definitely be trying this method, never tried it like this but I sure as hell will, looks good please keep making videos I still have tons of ur videos to watch, but the more the better.
Jason, you can also take a burning stick or piece of kinling that is burning on one end and imures it into the boiling coffee and all the grounds will go to the bottom of the pot and STAY there. It doesn't effect the flavor either. Pour with care and enjoy! I really enjoy your videos and Love the Life style.
This is a great way to make coffee. Simple and delicious. This method allows for all of the flavors to come through. I’ve also heard this method called “Finnish” Coffee. Thank for sharing!
Looks like I'm a year behind as I only recently came across your channel... "Rolling Boil". Cowboy coffee has got to be the greatest thing on earth!!! I follow Cowboy Kent Rollins as well. Subscribed to your channel and joined your patreon about a week ago. I use the Big cans of Columbia House coffee from Costco. Cowboy coffee is D EEE Licious!!! I am working towards living the nomad/boondocking life. Appreciate your videos and channel.
Glad I just came across this film 🎞 after watching Don’s films and hearing him talking about having cowboy 🤠 coffee ☕️ I was wondering exactly how y’all made it because it sounds kinda cool 😎 but I don’t know 🤷🏻♂️ about coffee ☕️ that isn’t brewed coffee I drink coffee ☕️ all day just about up until I go to bed 🛌 from getting up in the morning to going to bed 🛌 I drink my coffee ☕️ all day long
I enjoy very much your videos - especially love seeing the dogs out in nature and some of the instructional aspects (ex. splitting wood and chainsaw use). When it comes to coffee, I've been practicing this for years. I roast my own beans and kind of have the brewing down to a science. Immersion (like Cowboy coffee or French press) is a fantastic way to extract the coffee. When the outcome is important (and an outstanding cup of coffee certainly qualifies), attention to details is key. The coarseness of the grind (I use a burr grinder on fine setting), temperature of the water (205 F), ratio of water to coffee (I'm brewing 13 grams water per gram of coffee) and duration (4 minutes) all make a huge difference in the taste. I don't know what to make of bringing it back up to a boil. Generally speaking, the colder the water is during extraction, the less acidic it will be. In the summer I cold brew coffee (in fridge for 24 hours) and it is the least acidic coffee I've had. Anyhow, thanks for all the great conent and keep up the good work!!
Great video. One of my favorite things in our elk, deer and antelope camps is coffee the way you made it. Of course a little something extra helps too!
Great video Jason and can't wait to try your new Primal Outdoors Coffee! To alot of folks coffee is coffee but to coffee lovers I agree this method of Cowboy Kent Rollins is the best. He also has great outside cooking recipes that we use as well. Love your shot of the stream in the intro wish we were there buddy. Thanks for taking us along.
You make great videos that are great commercials for your partners. Camera work is excellent and the background is authentic. I remember when TV commercials were enjoyable and you have done very well.
So I’m binge watching your older videos and have to say I thought your current videos were great but not anymore. After watching the older videos and finding them to be great, I’m going to have to say that your current videos are excellent! I’m enjoying seeing the evolution of your gear and vehicle setup. Do you even remember sleeping in the Kodiak tube tent? lol on the ground showing the “cool” pillow you had back then lol. You’ve come a long way in 5 years. I am truly happy for you and do my best to support you and your channel. I even watch the commercials all the way through lol. I’d like to know how to order some of your pictures. I want some for me and some I’ll use as gifts, but only for people I love and/or call my true friends lol. Thank you for posting the best videos on UA-cam. I look forward to them every week. I wish they were a bit longer though, say 20+ minutes. Cheers mate and happy trails
I found that one of those camp fire coffee pots the ones bigger at the bottom than the top works really well keeping the grounds at the bottom I wish I knew why cold water runs them down but it sure does ⛺️
I make turkish coffee everyday, no need to use the cold water, those grounds find there way to the bottom with gravity, of course you have to have an extra fine ground. just a thought if you don't want to cool your coffee off ?!
Really enjoyed this one, Jason. That's a great time about a second boil time. I had to move away from coffee due to heartburn issues off the acidity but I might give this a try again.
Try Pepcid complete or the equate brand version berry not mint. That worked for me and they last for up to 12 hours. Just a suggestion mate Cheers mate and happy trails
A good quality arabica Colombian coffee bean will get rid of the acid. My dad is a coffee roaster that married my Colombian mom. Great videos I like your camera work.
I need to do some side by side taste tests, but the science says that boiling coffee would make it MORE acidic, not less. That is the reason cold brew coffee is so popular and trendy recently.
1. bring water in a pot to the boil 2. add ground coffee, bring to boil once more 3. add cold water to settle coffee grains. That's the entire content for this 11:29 min video. At least this way I can spare other people all the advertisments.
Love coffee making videos. I really enjoyed the Kent Rollins video on the subject but there is a Norwegian guy name Erik Normark who has a simpler way.He throws the coffee in the water in a kettle and at the point of the coffee frothing up the spout he pulls it off and kinda drops it on the ground,stump,table...what have you and then pours ground free coffee....pretty slick and simple.
Very well done. Grounds, not grains. The most important things is missing. What is the ratio of water to coffee for strong coffee? And do you need a dark roast?
Awesome news about the coffee partnering. That would be a dream of mine. Is that stuff available in stores in the area? If so, I look forward to seeing your blend some day. Man, coffee...whiskey...you’ve got it made, Jason.
the magic is that your lower the temperature with 5-10 degrees in just 2-3 sec. That makes the coffee beans drop to the bottom very fast. But you pore in too much cold water - you just have to drop in 3-4 teespoons of cold water.
Frothy, brothy coffee 😊 Real cowboys pull off a sock to filter out the grinds. Er, that's what's I've been told, anyhow. But its great to see someone collaborating and producing good products in line with your channel.
Sorry do be a pest. Have you used the Sony for still pictures? I am at total loss between that camera or a canon 80 D for a all around video/photo camera. What lense did you use in shot also?

Cowboy Kent Rollins has some great videos, long time subscriber to both of y'alls channels
I was going to post this.

Yr honestly going to add cold water to yr hot fresh coffee?

How fantastic that you have Expedition Joe as a sponsor! We usually do filters and drip, but cowboy seems easier and not as messy as a peculator.

Coffee does taste better around a campfire! Can't wait to try the Primal Outdoors coffee. As always another great video thank you
I use a French press insulated mug just to cut down a few steps and I prefer it to percolated or auto drip (or the K cups!) Great video.
