I don't think it's all wedges that look bad. I think a little 1 or 1.5 inch wedge looks good and would be fine on most. But those wedges you showed were way high so the wedge part was ridiculously prominent and chunky. Would be fine if the wedge was smaller.
I appreciate all of this. It’s accurate. I’m 5’3 (I’m owning the other half inch 😹) and I follow several of the tips you have shared. You will have to pry my platforms from me though. lol I can’t let them go. I will try. 💙
I think heels are more flattering than wedges, that bit of daylight showing under the arch of the foot is visually lengthening. By “heels” I mean 2-2.5 inches high maximum, or “medium heels”. “High heels” are defined as 3 inches or higher, there’s no way I could wear those, I’ve tried and tried. I do love my medium heels, or at least a 1.5-inch heel, they make short me feel more confident. It’s been 40 years since I’ve seen a woman actually wearing high heels where I live, except for in Insta photos, not even for evening. If coming to the San Francisco area, don’t bother bringing high heels, they’re just not worn here.
I am so glad I found your videos, they are so helpful. I was wondering if you could do a video for going to the gym, I feel self-conscious when going to the gym because I have a belly.
Hahaha just yesterday I tried on a long dress with flat shoes and it looked horrible on me so I changed the whole outfit. I didn’t realize the shoes were the problem. Thank you for this!
I now wear open long sleeves over a tank. The very thinnest cotton or linen works. Thin, not cheap. I'm in the Caribbean, and as long as it's loose enough to be away from your skin, they help shade your body from the blazing sun. Just returned from Texas, and I wore them there, too. I now have several in my closet. Probably wear one today, as beryl crosses under our island.
I'm 5'2" and I loved all the dresses here. You're right about a higher waist line makes your legs look longer. Then the heavy sandals rule sounds so true. Such good advice in this video. Thanks!
Shorts with long sleeves??!! Are you kidding me?!! You obviously do not live in California. We are having a heat wave and I wouldn't never wear long sleeves in the summer!
Me too. And I live in Germany. More than 20 degree (68F) and everybody would ask you if you are okay when wearing long sleeves. This year is okay but too much rain and waiting for the wave. I think about August.
I think those big, long tops or tunics are the most unflattering, frumpy thing a woman can wear, even over skinny pants or leggings, but they’re disastrous over fuller-cut pants. They are also outdated by decades. Don’t wear a tent - show your feminine shape! No one else has a perfect, flat tummy, either, just show it, it’s a lot less noticeable than you think! We’re looking down at them, rounded out, but they really don’t look like that to others. If you’re female, you have a beautiful shape, don’t be afraid to show it.
I always thought tier maxis where you have several horizontal seams cut you in half or make you look wider…..almost like horizontal stripes. I love the look of them but at 5 foot tall I thought they wouldn’t work.
In your thumbnail, you intentionally go frumpy when the look could be improved with a bit of tailoring. Tuck that shirt, for one! A belt? Nude rather than white flats? Also, the assumed goal here is to look "taller" (or proportional) but I've seen some very petite women really own their tiny and make it work in their look. Being small is pretty cool, after all! It's an interesting feature to work with. The goal is consistency, I think. It's not important to look taller. It's important to look like your clothes fit you. It's hard for those of us who happen to exist outside of "ready to wear" proportions, but heels are not necessarily the end goal of every petite outfit.
I do not like elevated waist lines on me . Looks like empire waist, shortens my torso and adds fabric bulk at the true waist/hip area, not the slimming drape that im looking for. The key is to look for light flowy fabrics like cotton rayon blend, soft gauze, satin/silk or good quality jersey knit. I wear slim block heels or flared kittens for height and stability. Fit and flare dresses are flattering to wide mid sections only if there is an actual waist seam, acting like a visual belt area. The FF with vertical darts do not have cinching appearance to disguise a thicker waistline, unless shapewear undergarment is worn
What she does works for me. A waistline too much bigger than the hips might be the exception, but wearing a tent rarely flatters. It covers up but rarely flatters.
The rule of thirds is the visual trick that works. Instead of visually dividing your body in half, divide it at 2/3s with the remaining third either on top to make your legs look longer or on the bottom to add length to your torso. I have large breasts and a belly, so I look best with my top at 1/3 unless the top is dark and v neck.

You always have such great tips, you’re the best stylist! For petites, or any figure, you have that objective style eye.❤

Yes please. Best Sport or gym looks for petites
The human body of a female is beautiful God created it. Petite or what ever. Its magical.

Chi I’m curious where you live because where I am it’s 90F and thus too hot for long sleeves and denim.

Great video Chi! What brand is the fushia pink lace cutout dress(6:26)? It looks great!

They’re the hot “new” tops for summer 2024.
Thank you for the wedge tip. I like those but I see how it can make me look shorter.
Oof, this is the second time that Fabrique has shown up with my favorite fashion vloggers/Influencers! I must take a look.
Have you done an article on petite dressing a very curvy figure? I have an hourglass shape with large boobs and butt. Thanks!
Love all your tips as I'm 5 feet but sorry I love my wedges and I can't part with them
I cant either. 5 feet tall and love my wedges!

A lot of your dresses and blouses require a strapless bra. Do you have recs for this? It's a barrier to entry for me for a lot of these styles.

Make the waist match YOUR OWN natural waist. Regardless what anyone else says. 😊
