    Great video! I wore a pair Saucony Speed 2's for my first marathon. I over pronate and wear orthotics. They felt very unstable and ended up with achilles issues after. My second marathon I wore the Hoka Rocket X. Loved the shoe as it felt very stable and no issues after. Unfortunately it is no longer available and I am not sure if the Rocket x 2 would be as stable as the original. Based upon your video I am leaning to the Tempus. Thanks for all the great info

    I'm planning to buy Kayano. But recently I bought a pair of Skechers Persistence Archfit for stability, which also has a carbon infused plate at the forefoot. The foam's a little on the firmer side, but it supports my arches and feels good while running. And it was responsive with forefoot strike and whenever I land on heel, it just rolls and propels me forward. So far so good.
    Only thing I felt, IMO, grip could've been better.

    Excellent Video! I also like your video on high arches. Could you suggest a shoe? I have high arches, am heavy and looking for a shoe for short runs and 45-60 minute tabata/circuit sessions. (Box jumping, short sprints, squats, etc.) At 62, my main objective is foot security. Thanks!

    I agree with you that kayano is best for walking and standing. I have kayano 30 & gt-2000 12. I'm not too happy with the weight of the kayano, gt-2000 weight feels perfect for me. I wish I was buying gt-2000 first, now my kayano is just collecting the dust, but i'm planning to use it as my daily walking shoes when my primary walking shoes is wearing down.

      Asics ruined the kayano line with the last few models. I wear the GT now the kayano used to be my go to stability shoe.

    Which would you recommend that's a little wider in the midfoot? Went on a hilly 8 mile run in my Gel-Nimbus 24 and got some gnarly blisters on the medial side of my arch close to the start of the ball of my foot. Thinking the shoes may be a little bit too narrow in that area

    I'm training for a half marathon in a Gt 2000 10. I was thinking about upgrading for a GT 2000 12, once I already like the 10th version so much, but I do feel it a little too "harsh" in longer distances. I have a pronated step. Would the Mizuno Wave be a better option?

    I have a pair of GT-2000 11 GTX which give me the support I need but I need something with more cushioning. I switched to NIKE INVINCIBLE RUN but honestly these aren't supportive enough but do have great cushioning. Can you recommend anything?

    I'm finding myself very happy with the Brooks Glycerine GTS 20, because they are really very comfortable and have good stability. The Saucony, I have not tried them, while the Kayano 30 and the Inspire 20, I have not didn't like it at all. Because I didn't feel they were suitable for my feet, in the most absolute way.

    Thanks for another great review and recommendations. Question, I'm a bigger runner with a wider foot. I have had my gait analyzed and also had a foot scan at a running store. I have been categorized as a overpronator and told I should be in a stability/support shoe. I have tried different brands and models over the years and I always seem to go back to a neutral shoe. Am I not giving the support shoe enough time or is it ok to stay with a neutral shoe? Thank you for your time and your insight, it's much appreciated.

    • @DoctorsofRunning
      @DoctorsofRunning  4 місяці тому +2

      We have a video somewhere on how much stability you need that has a lot more insight, but in general if you have been healthy with the shoes you’ve tried and haven’t had issues in neutral shoes, there’s no need to get more stability. As long as fit is good and you feel supported enough in the type of shoes you wear - and maybe some of them are more inherently stable which is just enough - then you probably shouldn’t worry about it. If you find any issues with a shoe and it happens to be related to stability, always good to recognize what doesn’t work compared to the shoes that have. Using our reviews might help with identifying oh this shoe has A,B,C that I really enjoy and help increase the chance that the shoe will work for you, but it ultimately is trying and seeing. Long-winded response, but hope it helps and check out our stability guide which talks about how much stability one needs on the website.

    For long walks, standing and daily use which is better, the Kayano 30 or the Gaviota 5?
    For reference, My feet is completely flat and have no arches and also wide.
    Which of the 2 would be a better option for my feet and usecase?

    • @DoctorsofRunning
      @DoctorsofRunning  4 місяці тому

      Team’s flat feet runner here. Both are good for the purpose, but I would maybe suggest Gaviota 5 from a fit standpoint. It’s a bit wider through midfoot than the Kayano and more relaxed. I’ve done fine in it and used it for all day errands. If you do Kayano it’d be fine just get the wide model if available it’ll be snug otherwise. I just like the Gaviota a little more for the more volume over the foot which I like when it comes to walking shoes.

    I have the Tempus and it gives me problems every time I'm attempting to do more than a Parkrun with it.
    Yesterday I've done a 30km+ run and it really pushed into the arch on my right side (I have high arches).
    That run resulted in lot of discomfort and a massive blister at the front part of my arch.
    Does the 2000-12 feel less intrusive for the arches?
    Still enjoy my Tempus, because it is so good for intervals and fast runs.
    I need to find something else for those long runs tho.

    • @Navi-em4zf
      @Navi-em4zf Місяць тому +1

      Had exactly the same experience. Blisters on foot arch anything longer than 5km. Otherwise a great shoe.

      @@Navi-em4zf the ASICS GT 2000-12 work well for me for long distance training runs, but they are very tight fit. I pretty much don't tighten my laces at all in these.
      They are definitely slower than the Tempus.

    If you could only take one stability shoe on a Special Forces type selection where you will spend lots of time running to and fro, doing pt in them and doing timed sub 21min 5km runs, would you take the gt 2000?

    • @DoctorsofRunning
      @DoctorsofRunning  3 місяці тому +1

      Factoring in all of the daily activities and that the stability works for your mechanics, it could be a good choice. The only thing is if wet surfaces are going to be common, it doesn’t have the best traction. The Nike Structure 25 which isn’t on here and is less stability would be an option to maybe consider. Just thinking of a shoe that could be comfortable all day and also for runs.

    • @DoctorsofRunning
      @DoctorsofRunning  4 місяці тому +1

      It’s still fairly dense with only a little flexibility, but not inflexible. The plate does not extend into the forefoot which helps give it just a touch of flex, but there’s also enough forefoot material that it’s not flexing too much.
