- The Cook Children's Medical Center NICU cares for newborns and infants with problems related to premature birth, respiratory failure and conditions requiring surgery. The NICU features specialized equipment, monitoring and lighting and décor that gives premature babies time to grow and develop. Babies may also need specialized care for birth anomalies, respiratory distress or illness, and neurological conditions. Board-certified neonatologists and neonatal nurse practitioners provide 24 hour-a-day staffing.

I just decided that this is what I want to do. To be able to help families have their own little miracle would be the best job in the world.
My oldest inspired me to become a RRT in NICU. He's my miracle child being just 1 pound 14 ounces. I'm very thankful for the team that helped save my child's life!

:'} I am a NICU nurse here in the Philippines and Gosh..this really touched my heart..
I do hope one day we will have those equipments and special training the US and other 1st world countries have. It's really tear jerking moment when you see a baby from comatose that progresses daily then one day just wakes up and move around and blink and respond to pain.. And see the babies who develop septicemia be well and crying out so loudly.. :'} God does wonders..

Praise is certainly due to all the scientists, technicians, researchers, doctors, surgeons, nurses, cleaners, porters and ancillary staff involved. Not convinced God has a great deal to do with it, really. Although having medical insurace is pretty close to a true blessing though . . .

Ahhhh ! This is my passion, becoming a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner!! I love babies but when I do become a NNP I would only be able to handle Unit 1 & 2 because Unit 3 is for critically ill babies & it's in that unit when an NNP has a higher chance of coming in contact with a babies death.

One of my cousins was born premature and I love babys. I'm 11 and determined to be a NICU nurse.
@theejesslynn I'm starting my senior year on august 8 which is my b-day too. I want to be a Neonatologist also. I'm praying the best for everyone who wants to help these beautiful babies whether you want to be a neonatal nurse or a neonatologist.
