Beats by JBlack is absolutely incredible at finger drumming. In this workshop, he will highlight all the major techniques you need to know to get started with your own finger drumming and up your game!
Been working with Mpc's for 20 years , you can do beats one pad at a time, don't let finger drumming scare you from making music
Yeah, you can arrange great drum loops one pad at a time, the key is to listen what you make and play around with different sounds, always having fun with it
Doesn’t hurt to practice your finger drumming tho. Even 30 minute to and hour a week you would get much better in a year
yeah but it kinda sucks sometimes. u think about all those people who got to kill a man in iraq and your like man this is lame. like i wanna shoot a man in the face (still haven't killed anyone yet), and your sitting around doing this cowardly stuff.
@@jhowardsupporter What the fuck you talking about???🤔🤔🤔
@ I nearly got a life sentence in Asia for a very small amount of drugs (they turned a blind eye to it cos they knew I would either get the death sentence of life in prison). You wanna know why? Cos they government there wants to lick the Americans asses by handing out VERY strict sentences for drugs. All started by Richard Nixon. So in the Art world I don't wanna sit here licking the asses of Hollywood.
The no look tip is the best tip I've ever got on drumming
I KNOW RIGHT!!! I just sat here and literally did the "no look" on a pattern I have normally had trouble playing and nailed it immediately lol
Makes since though he's treating it as a instrument it's an extension of himself
Works with pen spinning tricks too :D
Same with learning piano, i always just think ray and stevie did it so its definitely not impossible
@@chekortado feeling, and a well trained ear
You can tell J is such a super nice dude. Loves what he does and loves teaching others. 10/10

With so many clown doing this kind of videos about pads, I really loved this guy and the guy doing the interview. A humble teacher that is really a musician and a respecfull interviewer.
Props to JBlack he's giving away a lot of free game in this video.
You know that moment when your so blown away, you can't do anything else than smiling, without realizing what's going on?
That's exactly how I feel watching him play those crazy hat rolls as if it was the most normal thing

You can see that this dude enjoys what he does, always always always smiling. Love the positive attitude. Following him for a long time. Thumbs up.
In addition to being an amazing musician, he may also end up being the last person in history to mention JC Penney in a UA-cam video.
guitar center thats musician mall
impulseMusic more like sweetwater’s show room
Brilliant
Ikr...but I actually related to that when I was younger and I did exactly this as a kid and my mother would give that eye and I already knew what that meant lmao 😂
LOL! Nice!
We used to do this all the time in the late 90's with MPC 3000 and 2000XL. That was how we liked to create our drum patterns for a sequence.
AColdPiece it makes me wonder sometimes too, like with the talk box, use one of those in front of a millennial and they look like they’re watching an alien or something but to us back then it was one of the few things we had to use pretty much
Facts but they where super bulky
One of my favorite beat makers. Almost gave up on making beats some years back till i saw a JBLACK video and was blown away. I had forgotten how fun it was to hit those pads on my MPC. BIG UPS JBLACK!😁👍
This is amazing. Been following Jblack for a couple of years - so good to see him in a video explaining his craft. Super grateful for this 🙏💛💫
You always have great content and guests presenting it. I love your personality much love and respect from South Africa.
JBlack - quality musician and quality dude. Thank you sir!
finger drumming is taking i love using the push 2 and mk3 together!
Great vid and some dope analogies. Loved the one about being in the mall and banging on the counter. Took me back to elementary school and banging on the desks!

This brought MAD help! Thank you so much. This is excellent for us newbies. I have the ear, but learning equipment.
The best video! I also make my beats on the MPC Live. No DAW on the computer, just the MPC Live in stand alone mode. :)) 😁
I live in Atlanta I bought a Mpc 2 years ago and I HAVE to meet jblack omg

I always like seeing this kid.. He's off the charts
Im a little more half way through this video and just have to point out how amazingly nice Jblack seems to be. Precise in what he is saying but chill with it. Having fun what he is doing and communicating what he is feeling. Great talented guest.
I love this guy, like he said at the end of the video ... He is always smiling and into his beats. It's such a pleasure to watch him perform.
always great to learn thannks guys
Good video. As a music teacher, I can tell you that learning a pattern is strictly muscle memory. They do a great job starting simple but the other truck is speed and repetition. Learning new bears or adding components to a beat should be practiced very slowly and daily to build muscle memory. This is what too musicians do and this musical instrument is no different in that regard.
Absolutely.
Great video! Thx guys
Sooo needed. Cannot wait to start!!
That dude is a beast. Great vid and interview bruhs.
"this is the intercom, and this is my counter". BRUH we all do that holy shit lol
LIKE A MUG!!!!!
This is real dope fam. Thanks for all that you do!
cool man cool stuff, I am just getting started on finger drumming
This is my dudeeee right here...great content for sure!! Real shit!! keep it coming! lol
I just got around to watching this video and bro you are rocking that beat I’m feeling your flow
I love your relation to hearing a song on the intercom and bangin' on the counter. You're absolutely right, everybody's got that feeling and that $auce inside them.
this guy is nothing short of amazing
Thank you so much for this bro ....
Awesome share!! Rad tips and tricks ✌🏻🤙🏻
Referring to placement of the drums, I'd definitely have my hi hat on the right simply because I'm right handed and that's my faster one. Then kick on 1 and snare on 2 for my left hand
For anybody reading this, you can set the sensitivity of the pads in Maschine via the controller app.
💀🥱
very motivational, nasty beat maker on the planet right now, and slept on, most humble being, i follow him on instagram!
thank you for some training i went all the way to the top and got the akai force i play dance music i’m a new fan of yours
Yo when I was 13 I wanted to make beats but I couldn’t afford a midi so I just focused on rapping but this vid really reminded me of how I felt about beat making. Thanks for posting this on Instagram 👌🔥
This one was really inspirational.
Thats amazing. The sample 😮
I skipped over this video a few times but glad I finally watched it, it was good!
Thanks bro such a great and honest help.
Dude, your are correct about not looking at what your hands are doing once you learn the movements: this is Zen, and many writers, musicians, martial artists, and painters have learned this. Ray Bradbury wrote a fine essay on the subject.
A true master at what he does!
Great video, thank you!!!
Bruh. Mad respect! JBlack is a beeeast
Right up my alley thanks
I love the way he thinks about it: there's a hook going round the intercom and youre just going with it, vibing on the counter...
Great guy, very skilled
Great content .....keep it up man ...have fun.
You know your a producer when you vibe with the metronome 😂
This dude is great. Respect
This is really dope this is somthing i want to achieve next for sure🔥🔥🔥
This is dope!
I really like the approach, he plays it like an piano
Awesome video! You guys are chill af haha
That was dope!
Great video!! Tyyyyy
Not that I know everything, but I learned a great deal of what he was demonstrating by looking up different claves the other day.

I am pumped too duders!!
You guys are great 👍🏾
Excellent video
Best teaching video on akai mpc live made it simple an easy should teach for them this helped my mpc live game
I’m a fan now so good
Jblack is a true master at his craft and should have a master class on finger drumming! That’d be legit!
Holy cow, this is a masterclass.
J comes across as a very decent fella, articulate too, top bloke 👍🏻
When he said don't look at the pads, that actually works.
This 🔥
These new drum machines are so cool
THE WAY U BROKE IT DOWN I WOULD THANKS SO MUCH I HAVE BEEN OUTTING OFF LEARNING THIS FOR YEARS CUZ HAVE 3 FINGERS ON MY RIGHT HAND BUT LOOKING AT THIS I GONNA THINK OF SOME THING TO MAKE IT WORK
I WATCHED ARRABMUZIC..ON HIS MP3...AND HE HAS 7 OR 8 MUSIC STYLES ON HOW HE PLACES HIS FINGERS..BUT AT ANY POINT...HES DOES 180 TO 190BPM...WITH HIS FINGERS...INCREDIBLE...& WHEN YOU THINK THATS IMPOSSIBLE...HE GOES EVEN FASTER THAN THAT...THIS GUY ARRAB...HAS TURNED THIS INTO A ART FORM...NOW HE IS CONSIDERED A ARTIST...HE DID A SHOW...AT A OPEN FESTIVAL...AND IT WAS SOLD OUT..ALMOST 5000 PEOPLE TO HEAR THIS CAT PLAY A MPC...LIVE..JUST ABOUT A 1HR SHOW...HE TURNED IT OUT...THEY HAD OTHER DJS PLAYING MUSIC...BUT THIS GUY WAS THE SHOW....**ONE#1**
I'm not a huge trap fan, but that loop at the end along with the beat sounded dope! Credit to JBlack. My piece of advice for achieveing hand independence would be to map out your beats on a piece of paper using "1 e & a 2 ..." for 16th notes and count it out loud. And always remember: if you can do it slowly, you can do it fast.
Damn that JC Penny analogy was SO right sometimes I'm bad about trying to hard to do this or that instead of just letting go and letting it come out natural!
See him all the time on instagram. Such a legend
what is his instagram?
So that what’s his voice sounds like...😂👍🏽
you say umm a lot tho. hes certain on what hes saying. soak it in mayne. learn something
Space Music Ent yea he’s amazing!!
