A TRADITIONAL PIE FOR MY 4TH OF JULY /OLD SCHOOL BUTTERMILK PIE/FRIDAY NIGHT PIE OF THE WEEK

- This has to be my all time favorite pie
That's why you seen me make and post it lots of times
OLD SCHOOL BUTTER MILK PIE:
1 cup sugar
1/4 c ap flour
4oz real unsalted butter
3 eggs
1tsp vanilla
1c butter milk
1 uncooked deep pie crust
Mixed together flour and sugar
In separate bowl mix butter,eggs,vanilla,and butter milk
Slowly add the dry mixture with the wet
Pour in pie crust and cook in a 350 degree oven for 30-45 minutes or until it's firm to touch
this will be the best buttermilk pie you ever tasted!!!

I've looked through a lot of old church & home extension cookbooks from my area of North Carolina.....always found a buttermilk pie recipe. I love them too. Older recipes are the best! Thanks for posting this. Happy 4th to you! 🇺🇸

After watching several cooks......so another way to prevent soggy pie crust shell turn over on 400 once you add filling & put in stove allow it to stay on 400 for 10 minutes then turn 350 for the remaining of cooking time........my crust be on point now 💯% truly appreciate your video & I'll try it cold👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

I have the butter milk in the fridge now as I love to drink it. This is the recipe that made me a subscriber about 2 years ago. Eye made one too sweet...one didn't wait to cool...one that was perfect. Then came adding coconut and perfection was accomplished. Hey man you made me fat....lol. eye ate whole pies by myself due to losing my test subjects early on. Thanks again
I remember watching my grandmother as a little girl make many of the dishes you make. My grandmother died about seven years ago and sadly many of her recipes were lost to our family. For whatever reason they weren’t written down, but watching you allows me to travel back in time and duplicate the love she put into preparing food for all of us: thank you Chef🌹.

My grandmother used to make Buttermilk pie, Chess & Lemon Chess pies. 🍋 Any time I see a recipe for them it reminds me of her 🥲. My Mom says I'm the only one who makes them as good as my grandmother. It makes me happy & sad at the same time.🙏🏽.
I love baking coconut custard pie...always a hit but the buttermilk pie didn't come out right. I'll attempt it again
Same here. I did make one with my grandma about three years before she died but I didn’t write down anything. I’m so sorry that I didn’t. She also made the best coconut cake (where she cooked the icing) and I need a recipe for that as well.
@@joyallen434 Just keep at it, you'll get it right. Sometimes if you don't make something often you have to find your "groove" w/it again. i.e., I used to only make Peanut butter Fudge & Pecan Pralines around the holidays . It would take me 2 batches (each)every year to get it right. I started making each 3 - 4X a yr & by the 2nd yr of doing that I was nailing both confections the 1st time around.

I never even considered making these bc I like many others thought I hate butter do I wouldn’t like buttermilk pie. Good Afternoon chef Jeff and family!! This takes me back to when I was a kid and ate the whole buttermilk pie at our family reunion! My mom knew to make 2 also because it’s that good 😊! You make it the same way she did! She didn’t have the recipe written down and took it to her grave so thank you for sharing this pie many times on here!! I made it for Thanksgiving this past year and my dad said it tastes just like my mom’s pie!

My late mother in law used to make a pie similar to this but pretty sure her's didn't have flour in it. Family used to call it "snot pie" because it was almost loose. Delicious as long as you didn't think about that while eating it...🤣😂🤣
