We are taking o/p voltage accross R-L terminal so during off time a decaying voltage will appear in that terminal then how it could be zero during off time??
When diode is forward biased the votage across diode is .8 v for si and 0v for ideal diade. This voltage is actually o/p voltage.so during turn off voltage across o/p is zero
In today's HVDC transmission, choppers are used to step up or step down DC power or convert DC power into AC power then step up or step down with transformer and then convert AC power to DC power. will it be easy?
Free wheeling diode conducts during Toff, this the load get shorted which in turn increases current and decrease voltage Voltage gets dropped to zero bcoz of short circuit That's the reason there is no o/p Voltage during discharging of inductor
@@vamsikolla We would lose protection against Voltage spikes in case of power getting turned off to the devices. Free wheeling diode is necessary to eliminate Flyback Voltage spike.
One doubt sir when chopper is off state the inductor discharges energy its polarity reversed then current should flow reverse direction but u took same direction why?????
The operating principle of a step-down chopper is to switch the input voltage across an inductor and store energy in it during the on-time of the switch, and then transfer the energy to the output during the off-time of the switch. On the other hand, the operating principle of a Class A chopper is to switch the load across the input voltage source and control the output voltage by varying the duty cycle of the switch.
When the switch is closed inductor gets charged. When we open the switch, there is no path for the inductor to discharge. So to provide a discharging path to the inductor, we use FD. If we don,t use FD, sparking will occur when we close the switch because of the charges stored in the inductor. So its necessary to use FD to avoid spark.

when thyristor is off and freewheeling diode is conducting then there should be some output voltage since current is flowing through load???
No output voltage as Freewheeling diode is on, output voltage accros FWD will be zero.

If we use only resistive load instead of rl load then what effect it put on the current wave form and in this case should we use free wheeling diode.
In resistive load we don't need free wheeling diode. It is used for inductive load.
