But Tommy already does original material, he got his band Majestica! He's the frontman and singer/songwriter. He also does original material in Sabaton (although he's not the frontman there). Personally I feel Tommys covers are a great addition to that. I love when Tommy work his magic on songs I love. Sometimes he covers a song I haven't heard before - then he helps broaden my musical knowledge. I want Tommy to keep doing his covers every friday! It's the highlight of the week for many of us fans...
I do understand your perspective, and am aware that he fronts Majestica as well, in addition to writing and playing with Sabaton, it simply seems like he has a passion for 1970s/1980s music, and would make a great album of original material, in that style. I enjoy many of Tommy's covers as well, but feel that there is so much more potential for him to elevate his talents to another level, by broadening his musical range even further, by writing and recording a classic rock album. I'm not suggesting that he give up covers entirely. It was a thought, and a suggestion. Having so much talent at his disposal, I feel that Tommy is capable of anything he sets his mind to. I can relate to hearing covers that I wasn't aware were covers, and broadening my own musical range as a result, so I do understand where you're coming from, as I stated. I simply see a lot of untapped talent, in terms of original material being delivered to us as fans of Tommy. It's just my opinion, nothing more, nothing less... Xo
Producing original material costs money, usually backed by a label, and whilst Majestica is working on new material, funded by their label...it would be tough for Tommy to record original solo material, whilst also earning from the same. Tommy's covers are promotional, on his YT channel... there are tons of Sabaton die-hard fans who have no idea Tommy has a side gig, err, gigs...so, he's still in promotional stages. Covering Europe was a vehicle to show off his gorgeous, yellow Kee Marcello (of Europe) signature guitar! 💛
Speaking from experience myself, as I know you are as well, given your background, I disagree with regard to the topic of Tommy. While producing original material could be costly, if one does not have a studio, instruments, etc., Tommy has all of this, and his covers have some of the best production value of anything today! Although the backing of a label is helpful, it's not imperative to success. All that need be said, in terms of promoting original material is something to the effect of, "Introducing the debut studio album from Tommy Johansson, guitarist of Sabaton , and the lead singer/guitarist, and key composer for Majestica." Since Tommy seems to have an affinity for 1970s and 1980s rock, he could easily crank out an album in no time, in that style, as opposed to putting the time and effort into learning all of these covers, and the individual parts, recording them, in most cases flawlessly. It would be potentially different stylistically, with a retro 80s sound, and any label would jump at the chance to sign a multi-instrumentalist/singer-songwriter/vocalist, with his charisma! I just feel he is selling himself short. I guarantee that no matter what style the album was done in, due to his talents, it would sell, and even perhaps overshadow his other projects. My personal opinion. The guitar is nice.
It’s kind of a really wonderful compliment to see potential and want more from someone that you praise for stellar musicianship in covers .. and I’m with you .. if Tommy announced that he would try out a original solo song for a Friday release .. well then .. hurray!!! But since stuff seems to start move on the Majestica side .. that might take focus for a while .. however I do think the covers are important .. Tommy said .. he would do this anyways .. why not share .. I do think they provide personal freedom to explore , enjoy and test out new ways to sing and plat and/ or making your own wariation .. like a gym for a musician .. .. still you do you Rob!
I appreciate your feedback as always, and truly believe that Tommy has the potential to be a superstar in his own right, on his own terms. The covers are nice, I'm not saying they're not, and some of the versions I prefer over the originals. This being said however, an album, or even an original tune here and there, in the retro style of his covers would be outstanding, and if anyone has the talent to pull it off, it's Tommy! =) Xo

@@rmg2112 as he has his own band where he does original work I don’t see why it is needed on his personal channel. Of course it would be nice to hear something he composes that might not fit for Majestica (if the other guys for some reason would say no we will not do that). If you want Tommy doing Tommy things that is not covers dive into ReinXeed and Majestica catalog and you will find a bunch of great songs showing his talent as a composer, singer and guitarist (and a bunch of other instruments if you go back to the earliest ReinXeed albums). But I’m selfish as a Majestica fan I prefer to see him continue on that path and getting the fame they deserve rather than him doing a solo project where he plays everything (as he did the first years with ReinXeed and had to bring other persons in for live performances). I find a tight band more enjoyable to see live. If you want retro style then listen to Night Call Girl with Majestica.
@ I appreciate your comment. As a result of this channel, I have become familiar with, and a fan of Majestica/ReinXeed, and truly appreciate Tommy's creativity and talent. I was merely suggesting that he record a "retro" sounding album, due to his obvious admiration for older music stylistically. Personally, I'm more than happy with the material of Majestica/ReinXeed! =)
Tommy is better than great. He sings wonderfully both by himself and covers! 😊

@@rmg2112 Thank you for your long answer!
I guess we see it differently but we both feel and agree that Tommy has so much talent! 💯 🩷
@@pernillaeriksson8594 Most definitely, Tommy's talent is undeniably superb, and that doesn't even begin to cover his abilities... =) Xo
