Tearing down a 306A and can not get the cylinder head separated from the crankcase. Everything else has been removed. Got any hints?

While I can understand that this approach might be effective in some cases, it's important to exercise caution to avoid causing any damage to the components involved. Here's a step-by-step breakdown of one option to separate the cylinder:
      Materials Needed:
      Soft or rubber mallet
      Protective gloves (optional but recommended)
      Steps:
Safety First: Before attempting any repair or maintenance procedure, make sure you are in a safe environment and have the necessary tools and protective gear.
Hold the Crankcase: With one hand, securely hold onto the crankcase that houses the cylinder you're trying to loosen.
Gentle Taps: Using the soft or rubber mallet, gently tap the lower handle threaded boss of the cylinder as this area has more support around the delicate cooling fins. The purpose of these taps is to create a slight vibration and shock to help dislodge the stuck cylinder. Be careful not to use excessive force, as this could lead to unintended damage.
Observe and Test: After a few gentle taps, try to test if the cylinder has become looser. If it hasn't, you can repeat the tapping process a few times, making sure not to overdo it.
Check for Progress: As you tap, periodically check if the cylinder is loosening or if there are any visible signs of movement. If you notice any improvement, you can continue tapping gently.
Patience: Sometimes, stubborn cylinder gaskets can take time to break free. If you're not seeing any progress after several attempts, you might want to consider alternative methods or seek professional assistance.
Clean and Inspect: Once the cylinder is loosened, carefully clean the area around the crankcase and inspect both the cylinder and crankcase for any signs of damage. Address any issues that you find before reassembling.
Remember, while this technique might work in some cases, it's important to approach it with caution and use your judgment. If you're not comfortable attempting this procedure or if the cylinder remains stuck, it's best to consult a professional mechanic or technician who can provide proper guidance and assistance.

At the Oil Tank and Pump assembly (4.00m mark), did you use Lithium Grease on the moving parts? Also, did you put some kind of gasket maker on the Oil Housing that interfaces with the body?

Yes lithium grease on the oil pump gear.
I used Motoseal gasket maker on the lower 1/4-20 bolt threads to seal the through hole in the crankcase/ oil pump housing.

What I was looking to find out was, if you put a gasket on the Oil Pump Housing perimeter prior to bolting it into position@@CLASSICPOULANSAWS

Wouldn't a gasket in this area keep debris out and any oil from running down the outside of your saw?@@CLASSICPOULANSAWS

Hello mr poulan, so, i had a question, when you took the cylinder off of the chainsaw, it looks like you put the same cylinder back on it just with a different piston, and this is we're my question comes into play. Did you hone out the cylinder and put it back on, or, did you get another one and just painted it, and if you did honed it, can you do a video on honing or can you tell how too cuz I am rebuilding one right now. Thank you.

I believe I used the same cylinder. Inspect for grooves and scoring.
Poulan 306 and 245 cylinders are chrome or nikasil plated which are too hard for me to hone.
It is very important to have a good cylinder or you will not have good compression. If the compression is too low, it will not even start.
