Many thanks for your reply Andrew & glad you like the video! Hope you have a great festive season & don’t batter us too much in the Ashes as we can’t even make the right call when we’ve won the toss lol!
A very interesting video, would happily sit through more like this. Couple of things though - I didn't recognise the approach to Kings Cross at all, the new throat and the encroachment of new buildings was a shock... and even more shocking was the state of the RoW! This is a busy main line in one of the wealthiest countries in the world but almost overrun with weeds, shrubs, small trees, graffiti and trash. It left me feeling a bit glum to see such an ugly environment.
Hi Michael, glad you like the video & thanks for the interesting comment. I’m hoping to do more videos like this when the locos allow, basically when one is required here in the South. I’ve already done some videos previously like this which you can check out on the channel with a small amount of searching. Unfortunately, regarding the state of the lineside etc, welcome to British Railways currently!
@@Shoddy127 Oops, 71 was told. Fat thumbs, but I drive diesels so have a lovely warm power handle usually. Make the hands swell haha. Southbound was faster I'm told. He was on train doing it the old fashioned way though ;) Don't shoot the messenger.
Thank you for the amazing journey! I was there on this train with my family last week. We got on at Stevenage - I think I can see us on the platform as you pulled in. What was your role on this journey? Were you the driver? Anyway thank you for your work regardless - the Black 5s are fantastic machines.
Hi Dan, I'm glad you had a great trip! I am just a member of the support crew who gets the engine ready to haul the trip so you can enjoy your day. This obviously allows me to do stuff like this thankfully! Your certainly not wrong about the 5's being fantastic machines, especially 44871!
Thank you! I really enjoyed that journey! That was a nice surprise to watch and after doing the house work, a good excuse to have a very long sit down! I would like to ask, when she was speeding along just how fast was she going please?
Hello Val & thanks for the kind comment. 44871 is registered to do 60mph on the mainline so it would have been around that figure. The engine could go faster but we’re restricted to that speed.
Absolutely brilliant. The best route learning video ever! More please!
Hi Nick, many thanks for the kind comment. I’m hoping to do more in future when the things allow but glad you enjoyed the video!
Another great video. I remember I miss this one.
Thanks Henry, congratulations on the new subscribers BTW!
@@Shoddy127 You're welcome and thank you very much!
We’ll, I’m watching this from 10000 miles away in Australia and I reckon you’ve done a really great job with this one. Thanks for posting. 🎅

I think the 2nd test will be tighter - we were lucky
@@andrewr2825 Hmm, I’m not so sure after the first days play!
@@Shoddy127 Just keep an eye out for Smith being Aussie captain and a couple of sheets of wet and dry!
Sorry Shoddy😟but dare I say RIP English cricket? (Sorry to hear that Ray Illingworth is no longer with us).

Tour report on Six Bells Junction website soon.
A mere 81mph through Hitchin I've been informed by a colleague. There's life and power left in these old locos yet! Excellent.
For a loco registered to do 60mph and as I was on the footplate north bound, that wasn’t the speed we were doing. If only though!

Great stuff! Can see myself at Hadley. Out of interest, what GoPro was it? Cheers, Thomas
Hi Thomas, I saw your video at Hadley. It’s my trusty Hero 4 Silver, film set to 2.7k.

@@Shoddy127 Thanks for the info! It did seem quicker than that and it was nice to go fast!
