Amazing how much busier the stations, footbridges and other vantage points get further south and nearer to Portsmouth the tour gets where the loco hasn't been seen for a long time. Thanks for sharing
You cheeky thing Ian on putting that on the front! You lucky thing on seeing the king and always being a member of the crew! Great day and hope you enjoyed it with your dad! I know both of you XD -Oliver
@@Shoddy127 Appreciate the quick reply and thank you that. Sitting downstairs in my study in Nova Scotia, Canada it seemed to be travelling at great speed.
Saw it going through Hilsea. Still find it incredible how many people show up for it. Wonder what most crews think about taking it? Cus the scotsmans been the centre piece of mayhem before.
Thanks for the comment, I think the Drivers are used to the loco now & the fanfare that comes with it. As you said & I’ll totally agree with, seeing the people that had turned out to view the engine was quite something, it made this home town chap very proud!
There’s a rumour that the headshunt at Wootton on the IW Steam railway is getting extended. All we’ve got to do is save up for the car ferry and await a suitable tide to get the low loader on. Or maybe two low loaders as I forgot the tender.
Hi Brian, thanks for the comment & watching the video! Yes you’re correct, Scotsman did slip as it’s a hefty pull up to the High Level especially with the standing start from the signal.
Excellent film ian, was it a light load or was there some diesel assistance as it seemed to get up to speed quite quickly?! One of the valves sounds like it blowing through too?
Cheers Russ. It was a bit of both, had only 10 on the hook due to getting into the harbour plus the engine & diesel on the back. Yes it was blowing through too, it was on the list of things to do for the guys.
Plain & simply yes as it’s built for speed although I’m not sure the fitters would be happy with running at that speed now as that would increase the maintenance work! 😂

I couldn’t believe it either Mark, just showed what a privilege it was to take the loco to my home town.
Excellent- really great footage ! Thank you putting it up.
Thank you for the kind comment, it’s much appreciated!
Straight past what was my old house in Tangier Road Copnor 57 years ago...still remember BR steam on the line as it finished.
Thanks for the comment nectafarious, glad it brought back some fond memories & it was a real privilege bringing Scotsman to my home town!
really wholesome seeing the number of people out to see it who wouldn't look twice at a normal train
Hi Vinnie, absolutely right! The amount of people that turned out, especially in my home town was incredible!
Another great video! I wasn't on this one so good to see it.
Great stuff Henry, this was a special trip for me obviously taking Scotsman to my home town.
Thank you so much for this guy's, very much appreciated.
Many thanks Keith, glad you enjoyed it.
Thank you! Last Saturday I was busy and forgot about this beautiful engine coming through! so now I can watch whenever I want to!
Thank you Val, hope you enjoy it!
The sound of that motion is hypnotising ❤
It is, thank you for watching & commenting. Please check out the other videos!

Cheers Oli lad! Very privileged to be in this position to do it. There’s one more video to come from the Salisbury trip too!
@@Shoddy127 I look forward to it!

Ive never seen a train speed through Winchester that fast before and it was a privilege to welcome you to Pompey! ❤
Thank you Dan, I was lucky enough to have been on the engine at that point & we were certainly motoring through Winchester as you said.
It sure was motoring. Do you think it reached the 'ton'?
@@richardgriffiths5920 Hi Richard, Scotsman is allowed to go 75mph and that was reached heading through Winchester.

@@richardgriffiths5920 Not a problem Richard & thanks for the view from Canada, nice to know the videos are getting some world wide viewing! 🌎
Excellent
Thank you

You’ll definitely need 2 low loaders tpaul2866! 🤣
Is it me, or was there some wheel slippage on the incline to Portsmouth and Southsea High ? 1H:30:14
Hi Brian, thanks for the comment & watching the video!

Driver very economical with the whistle all those people that came out to wave hardly got a toot

Do you think scotsman could quite happily sit at 90 mph or no ?
Plain & simply yes as it’s built for speed although I’m not sure the fitters would be happy with running at that speed now as that would increase the maintenance work! 😂
All those waiting on the other side as a train pulls into the platform and block their view 😂
Indeed, the risk you take in watching from a platform!
