Any game in frasers or sports direct don't sale pre owned only the independent ones sale the 50% off
Thanks I did not know this. I will pin this to the top for everyone to see 👍
They only sell preowned games in stand alone stores.
@@talkshowsonmutethanks! I’m gutted there’s not more in my area!
As far as I’m aware, Newcastle have two stand alone GAME stores. Metro Centre and Eldon Square.
That’s very lucky to have two standalone stores in one city!
Managed to hit up 3 and got some great bargains, Modern warfare 3 PS5 for £22.50. Mario Kart, Luigis Mansion, Smash Bros for around £20. Did some trade-ins to CEX to make some money back ended up with a ton of credit and ended up adding around 40 games to my collection for under 200.
Wow that’s epic! When else are you ever going to see first party Nintendo Games that cheap!
Also that’s an amazing price for Modern Warfare 3!
I expect a lot of people will be taking these games to CEX 😂
Doncaster is the store i work at is a standalone store 🤙
People are buying less physical games and game makes more profit from toys and merch. They have moved into sports direct because they are part of the fraser group and also no need to pay additional rent with them being in sports direct. I just wish game wasnt tucked in a corner and be more at the front of the shop.
I understand the need to diversify and don’t get me wrong I’ve found some awesome non gaming stuff in GAME such as figures, board games and especially Star Wars Black Series figures and Helmets which can be an absolute bargain in GAME.
It’s just a shame we’ve got to the point where GAME has to be inside other stores as I remember it from its heyday but I am glad there’s still some standalone stores around
@@DanTheGamesMan there's been a lot of bad choices from h/o. I've been screaming at them to do more retro, gaming soundtracks, more game merch but it all went on deaf ears. I've been at game for over 16 years and I been made redundant. 😔
The GAME in Stevenage is still a separate store, and yes it has games on offer, as described here. A small selection of Switch, which is what I collect for. Mainly PS4, a big selection, and some X Box, I don't have either console, probably would be worthwhile if I picked up for trading? Might be worth mentioning there is well stocked CEX about 2- 3-mins walkaway. There is a Sports direct it's literally two doors down from the Game store.
Yeah for sure a lot of profit to be made with these games at half price especially some of the more expensive games.
Shame about the small switch selection but glad you still have a stand alone store
@@DanTheGamesMan Btw Lincoln has a fairly big CEX store, a ground level and a basement level, one of my brothers lives up that way, so I have been to that one quite a few times.
@@mark-andrews I did pay it a visit when I was there, so will cover that in a future episode but thanks for the heads up incase
Chesterfield still has a stand alone store. Picked up a few bits last weekend from this sale
Awesome I didn’t know there was a store there so good to know next time I’m on the road lol
The guy who works in my local sports direct/game told me they sent all their preowned games back to hq back in feb, only stand alone stores have preowned now.
Thanks for the info, this is a shame again as it means less people will visit the store inside Sports Direct stores but I guess at least the remaining standalone stores will get more custom
My local one in Fareham is standalone, they got sent all the pre owned games from local ones based in sports direct. They got absolutely rinsed the first day it was 50% off when I didn’t realise it was a thing (no posters saying 50% off), but I did get a stack of stuff still later in the week. There’s about 4 switch games now that are still overpriced at 50% off.
It seemed very quiet when the offer first started but I guess a lot of people didn’t want other people to know lol.
It seems strange not to spread them out over ALL stores but I guess at least it gives the standalone stores the much needed footfall they need
Just a quick tip, even though a sticker might say £17.99 preowned, it comes up as something different on their tills, so it may not be overpriced still.
I have 2 near me. Denton and the trafford centre
That’s very lucky to have two in your area!
Already spent £350 on their 50% off stock a few days ago!
Wow now that is a haul! I can’t even begin to imagine what you got lol
i went into my Game in Eastbourne and they had more board games and toys than actual videogames. They didn't have any pre-owned games at all, i think the Cex in town has the monopoly on second hand stuff
They do seem to be steering further and further away from actual games sadly, I wonder if someone got to the pre owned games first or if they sent them elsewhere?
3:58 adam and dan's adventures in fraser land
Haha Adam and Dan’s Bogus Adventure 😂
Thanks for this Dan! Just been to a game and bought a huge stack of ps4 games!!
Awesome! Which store did you visit out of interest?
Some great pick ups mate, all my local Game stores are sadly hidden in Sports Direct stores. Its a real shame Game are going the way they are but then the SD ceo hasn't exactly got a great rep...
Thanks I was very happy with what I grabbed, yeah it’s a shame GAME are now just a shadow of their former selves these days
ps2 many games, can you put a link to his channel. Unable to find it. Thank you
Do you mean:
youtube.com/@ps2manygames?si=SImMeQm-GjN2HfpY
My local GAME is Lincoln. Can't afford to get to
It’s a shame as there’s less and less stores it seems
I managed to get super mario Odyssey for switch for £15
Wow that’s a bargain, that’s a game I’m sorely sorely missing from my switch collection
Ours stopped selling them as soon as the change came in. The prices in there are ridiculous. Can see ours shutting very soon which is a shame
It is a shame as there’s less and less places to buy games on the high street sadly.
Also a shame they stopped selling them at the exact time this deal started, I wonder if that’s what the Norwich store also did.
@@DanTheGamesMan yeah its sad times. Glad i experienced going to game shops at its peak. I do still check game but amazon beats every price. I would rather buy from a shop but why pay more. Glad you got some bargains. The callisto protocol for 2.50 is a bargain. I never finished it but enjoyed what i played. It gets pretty hard in my opinion
@@djjimuk2222 yeah I remember buying some of the key games from my past from GAME so many good memories, and hopefully it doesn’t become a thing of the past like so many other stores we’ve lost
What was that above the games said xbox series x from £99.99??
I’m not sure lol I think that was pre owned console prices
There two in Preston one at deepdale inside sports direct and one in Preston fishergate
Did you manage to find anything at either? I have two GAME stores here in Norwich but both sadly inside Sports Direct stores
Not been yet but they always have lots of games there
@@DevilzSoulzYT good luck and let me know what you find!
So normal price now then 🤣
The prices where pretty much in line with CEX for pre owned it’s just normally the new releases which are priced pretty high
I would check my local but its the same as yours lol
Haha yep sadly no luck there
I picked a couple of decent bargains while I was at my "local" one the other day. Tiny Tina's Wonderlands PS5 (chaotic great cover), Blood Bowl 3 and Dark Pictures Little Hope for £12.
Not the best bargains to be had, but I'm going to hit up the same shop next Friday when I ain't skint lol, and just see if I can get myself some okay priced games.
I've conceded to the fact I won't be getting any of the proper titles like GOW, GT 7, FF7 Rebirth, you know them kinda titles, so I'm happy to to just take advantage of "fair" prices.
I have been hearing on Hot UK Deals that some of the shops are genna restock, since they still have 1000s of games left apparently, so they'll have them shipped from their warehouses, but no idea when, guess you either have to pop in their shops every day, or just chance it when you can and hope for the best.
Like I said though, I'm happy with whatever that is on offer, as long as I'm after the game. Hopefully everyone else can get in there before the resellers do, including myself 😂👍🏻🤞🏻.
Can’t go wrong with 3 games for 12 quid! I’m hoping to go again as I’m in the same boat, I found the deal just before payday lol.
I guess even with the “proper titles” as such they’ll hopefully go on sale again in the future, and for half price on all games you can’t go wrong.
Hope it goes well the next time and let’s hope they do a restock, even though my nearest standalone store is quite a way away lol
@@DanTheGamesMan 100% mate! I hope the restocks are true. As long as I can get some fairly good games, for a cheaper price, I ain't genna grumble too much at all.
£12 like you said is definitely a bargain for sure, £4 a game especially for a PS5 title and a couple PS4 ones.
Only evidence I've got that the restocks might be true though, is the other night I saw them add RE 4 remake back into stock on their site in the PS5 section. So when they eventually cycle through all their stock, hopefully a couple of the heavy hitters make their way to the shelves again 😂.
Cheers Dan.
I went to my “local” and there was barely anything worth picking up. It has all been picked through. Game is now dead ☠️
It’s a shame but these offers were always going to go super quick unfortunately. It’s a shame GAME is but a shadow of its former self, back in the day, breathtaking.
Spent 50 on alot of game to many to list but one that sticks out is farcry 6 for 4 pound , star trek prodigy 3 pound etc , so good , yet so sad that game are doing this
That’s some great finds! Yes it is sad as it feels like the end of an era for GAME.
So sad, game used to be the place to go. Remember back in the day they used to have baskets and baskets of ps1 games in the middle.
I remember the hay day of gaming on the high street, the likes of Gamestation, Electronics Boutique and even Woolworths 🥲
Getting to a game shop now is as much effort as getting to a toilet in wetherspoons
Also my local game in Chelmsley wood in sports direct is exactly the same, just toys board games and a few semi new releases. No pre owned games
Haha love that comparison!
That’s a shame they don’t have any pre owned games I wonder if most got rid of them just before the offer started.
@@DanTheGamesMan unfortunately no since it opened late last year it's never had pre owned games, just new games but not even new releases. They have hogwarts legacy, Pokémon lets go, sack boys adventure that sort of thing.
@@evi6199 that’s so strange and a sad sign of the times, I wonder if the 3 for 2 offer will remain in some form?
Why are there stores within stores? 😅
The same company that owns Game and Sports Direct decided to cut costs by putting them in the same premises
Preston have a game store and always well stocked
Did they have the half price pre owned offer?
@@DanTheGamesMan yeah 3 bays full with all consoles
@@markryding9368 wow that store sounds amazing! Did you pick much up?
@@DanTheGamesMan wish I had going back Friday payday
@@markryding9368 that was my problem, I went around a week before payday 🤦♂️
i got quiet a few things in the last week.
Awesome what console did you mainly buy for?
@@DanTheGamesMan ps5,ps4 and switch kept a few and traded a few for voucher.
@@Security848 nice! Some good trade in vouchers to be made with this deal
@@DanTheGamesMan Most certainly.
@@Security848 just wish I’d grabbed more but poor timing money wise lol
GOTTA LOVE A BARGAIN
This was a total bargain!
I was in game other day and bought cup head for the PS4 for ten pounds
That’s a bargain, very VERY hard game mind you lol but I love the artwork!
@@DanTheGamesMan I compared it with cex prices and it's 28 pounds and I had to grab it at that price
@@DanTheGamesMan I compared it with cex prices it's 28 pounds in cex and for 10 pounds I had to grab it and you can get some bargains in game, I'll be sure to check on the 50% off
@@DanTheGamesMan I compared it with cex prices and it's 28 pounds. You can get a bargain at game and I'll be checking out the 50% off deal next time I'm in town
@@alexgrayisaligman good luck and I hope you find some good games!
Game died when they absorbed Gamestation
Man I miss Gamestation! Loved that store so much!
Game is literally killing themselves by stopping preowned. I understand CEX has muscled them out of the market. However, I used to work for them and they always had the same dumb business model. It worked for a bit, then never changed and they're basically dead.
I was working there when they almost closed down, due to Mass Effect 3. Too a long story to tell here and they didn't change after that too!
If Game had closed and Gamestation had still been around. It would be a whole different story.
I for one am glad they're almost gone, awful company to work for.
CEX muscled them out of the market due to a few reasons.
1. Better Trade in System- Way better than GAME when they had one, and you can trade in a variety of stuff, even PC parts.
2. Variety- So much to choose from in CEX from PS1 to PS5 and much more, and a great way to build a collection
3. They don’t focus on merchandise- From games to electronics, where people can use them on a daily basis, unlike board games etc.
Like you said they are killing them selves by getting rid of pre owned games and putting narrowing their selection with silly prices. It wouldn’t surprise me if they went bust in a few years.
I do remember the debacle due to the Mass Effect pre order, which was a real shame as it put so many people off pre ordering from them which sucks as they used to have some great exclusives for pre order.
I think they just didn’t adapt over time which is crucial in a competitive market and it seems CEX saw an opening and took full advantage
It seems that GAME is simply getting smaller and smaller until the point of extinction. I think it’s mainly down to the lack of retro and now the lack of trade ins, thus people go to CEX.
Also the fact you have to pay £4.99 delivery if you order online…
@@DanTheGamesMan One of the things when I was working there was there short sightedness to change. There are too many to count, I could be here all day.
Another thing, a tonne of scummy tactics to make money. The biggest scummy example was Game Care. (Insurance for consoles and discs.)
It was borderline useless and they made a lot of money from it during the 360, PS3 era, due to the red light of death.
I don't want get into all the ins and outs. However, just know this.
That sales assistants got nothing for it. (Once in a blue moon, you got a free game.) You'd get nothing exept for keeping your job. As you were targeted to do it.
Game, if they had kept the model of Gamestation with retro. Game could of been a completely different store right now.
Maybe, even could of cornered the market before CEX had a chance to think about it.
I'm glad they didn't, trust me.
I shudder to thing what they would be charging right now. Trust me when I say, it would of probably of been double the price and sod all trade in credit. It's the truth, as that is what they always have done. Screw over the little guy.
Regarding Mass Effect, man that was depressing at the time. People were spitting nails at us and we had nothing to do with it. As Game at the time said they would pay EA after they got ME3 and sold them. EA called their bluff and said p*** off. Then pulled all future releases until Game paid EA what they owed. Then the dominoes started to fall, mostly all the big names wanted there money and Game just didn't have it. Pre-orders couldn't be sold and Game went into free fall.
I was there at the supposedly last day of Game closing down. I was going to be made redundant. Then another company bought them at the last minute, paid all the debt and we all had our jobs. With barely any apologies from up top. It was back to normal the next day.
@@nathanmorrison1830 I pretty much said in a roundabout way but I just didn't want to get in to the ins and outs. I could be here all day 😂.
I've worked for both at CEX and Game and I know what they both do in great detail. If you wanna know which one is better it's CEX.
However, they aren't perfect either, not by a longshot.
Game has been a corpse for a long time and Sports Direct have just been dragging it along. I have zero clue how it's lasted this long, as I though Sports Direct would of closed it years ago. As it was a corpse when they bought it.
I won't be sad at all when they finally die, due to the amount of s*** I went through working there.
