Great fun watching you attempting to get it to do what it should do but at least you didn't have to go looking for it out in the field. Sure sounds like the instructions need quite a bit of clarification and maybe even let the drone know what it's supposed to be doing.
It's often the problem with these that the instructions are non-existant, or the app is something generic and doesn't seem to work right, This did ok, but just a few things to figure out with the follow me - actually quite a useful function, i've used it a lot on my Mavic air
Hello, I have Beast pro. The thing is I don't see any difference beetween the videos and stills that I record in my phone and the ones on the sd card. Is it normal? Some say the sd card footage should be a better quality. The only use of the sd seems to be the continuity of the video if you loose the signal during recording. Am I wrong?
The SD card recording shouldn't suffer from any dropped frames which you could get on your phone - although it depends on the range/signal quality as to whether this should happen. As the actual recording on the SD card isn't particularly high quality, you are getting a pretty good version of it beamed to the phone. Whereas a DJI drone might have a phone recording of 720p and an onboard recording of 4k, the SG906 only gets to 720p to begin with
Hi CK, Just found you channel and subscribed. A lot of vids to work through which will take me a while. I've just got an MJX Bugs 3 Pro, from a well known auction site. Brand new to the hobby so loads to learn. First mistake is I thought I could run the video into some FPV goggles. Not so with this kit. Will be ok to learn all the basics. Might end up fitting a separate camera/VTX combo as you did with the Bugs 2 as the phone screens are never at their best in bright sunshine.
Some people stick their phones in the cheap VR style headsets, but the transmission range of the phone wifi for video in the bugs (at least the 2) is not great - but the actual radio went for ages. No doubt that you could do a pretty neat job by sticking a nicer FPV camera internally along with the VTX and running it all off the same battery. If you are running a GoPro (or similar) camera, you might be able to take a live feed off that for your FPV
@@CurryKitten I have seen a good review for Quanum Cyclops Diversity FPV goggles, which at under £80 seem to be good value. Any idea if they can have their screen swapped out for a 'same size' moby until future mods are done to the Bugs 3, at which time original screen can be re-fitted?
Bit late to the party with this, after a couple of very unsatisfactory experiences with cheaper drones. Would you feel happy using footage taken from this drone when you do a video?
In a word, no. But that's just me. I have a Mavic Air, multiple GoPros and a mirrorless camera so I know what I can do with these and wouldn't like to take a step backwards. Whilst these types of quad are getting better, they are still toy-grade. The quality of the camera just isn't there and the frame rate and data rate they capture at is usually very low. Although the 3-axis gimbal is a nice touch, they don't have any of the electronics image stabilization that the hobby-grade stuff like DJI do and as such the two just don't compare.
I Iike it. I mean I think I do. I will find out though. Mine should be here on Sabbath or Saturday. Today's Wednesday!!! I paid $141 delivered with 2 batteries and the tote bag.
Thanks for your review ! Just got my SG906 Pro 2 yesterday. Works beautifully and quite intitutive to use. Only my images and videos are being stored in my phone gallery and not on the SD Card. The card is formated on my laptop and I can use it easily with my laptop. Am I missing a setting ?
I had the same problem but did some research online and found someone said that the card must be formatted as FAT32 - and a 32GB MicroSD is the largest capacity card that will work. I then tried it with a 32GB card that I had formatted as FAT32 and that worked for me! I also read that you should start the video recording / take the photo using the appropriate button on the controller and not from within the app on your phone - otherwise it will only save to the phone.
Ive seen other reviewers with this drone and the image quality looks much better (not dji quality but much better than any other toy drone). I wonder if this is a manufacturing issue.
The Greatest limitation for these newer brushless with 2 or 3 axis gimbals is that, for whatever reason they dont save to onboard DVR so any video has to come over its video transmission to your phone. Also although they mention 4k thats for a still photo. Video is at best 1080p 25 fps
This certainly saved video to the micro SD card I put in it. Thanks for clarifying the 4k. When someone tells you it's a 4k drone, you expect that in video. If I'd had read the description in more detail, it is actually there... sneaky!
Depends on the weight of your rig. If the idea is to drop a bait out some distance then I'd guess it would be ok, but I wouldn't want to try hauling in a fish with it :)
CK,,Thank you for the review on the SG906. Pro 2 Have been looking at this as a second drone to buy. You never mentioned if your flight was in 50% mode ,,or 'sport mode' 100%? Have found on my Holy Stone HS720 that i always just fly in standard mode & recorord video all time,,until one minute previous of landing, will get 26 mins,,what is advertised for this drone , 2800mah battery Just for kicks a couple times i flew in 'sport mode' 100% and the flight time is halfed. It's that simple. So your flight time 15-16 mins is to be expected if you were flying in 100% mode two. Video looks very stable which is what i am wanting,,Dont really care about follow and other featrues,,but it seems these should work better than what is seeing in your video, for sure. Going to purchase one of these. thanks again,,
The 50%/100% rates were a bit weird quite honestly. Even in 50% the quad seemed like it would get a reasonable speed on, but the yaw went at glacial speed. Even at 100% it didn't make much difference. My flight was kind of a mix of both, but I also had some time where I was just hovering (mainly trying to get follow me to work) so I don't think you'd end up with a drastically longer flight time just by being in 50% mode - but sure, perhaps some minutes more
3 questions: 1 in which format should the sd be formatted? (in the manual it is not mentioned I tried to format it fat32 but the drone does not write to it) 2. which is the official website of the manufacturer? 3. Is there any way to update the firmware?
I used fat32 - I can't recall if there was an option to have it format the card for you (often the best option) 2 and 3 - I don't know. The manufacturer is a bit vague. ZLL is written on the front, maybe it's that. As to firmware updates - maybe, but again, no idea - and no sign of any website which might tell us about it
Good review... For the price it seems good value... But we don't know how reliable it will be... Another battery would be a must have (as it would with all the competition) so up goes the price a little...On the face of it... You get what you pay for... And that's why with these type of drones DJI rule the roost and can charge the customer accordingly.
It's tricky isn't it - do you go cheap and have something like this that's not bad to get the idea of flying around and sort of decide if you like it, or do you go DJI and get something very capable, but ultimately more money. It's certainly an improvement on the previous toy-grade quads, but it's still ways off anything DJI have produced
