You wer lucky to get the pulley off in situ mine just rounded off the splines in the shaft with the right tools .Very poor idea

Why do you use Loctite? That makes it harder for the next person to get those bits apart next time. And I thought you would show removing the alternator From the car. The rest of the video is good though. Thank you.

I use Loctite to make sure it doesn't come apart unless i want it. I use blue so it's not permanent and does allow to be taken apart. As for filming the removal...it was unplanned repair..

@@andrewp3089 Okay. I have the same alternator of which I have disassembled it down to the part that holds the brush cover. how do you 'remove' that brush cover part? Another video on youtube shows removing the next 4 bolts and removing the front before then tapping out the black brush cover. Any thoughts?

So i assume u have taken off the black plastic rear cover, next remove the brush holder.
Now u have the rectifier that sits on top of the rear housing. 6 wires from stator pass thru rear housing and these are crimped to the rectifier. Take a small flat screwdriver and carefully open up 6 crimped connections. Now remove 2 screws holding the rectifier in place and pull it up. Next there are 4 screws holding the housing together.. Remove them and now can pull off rear housing. Dont forget to mark the parts so u can assemble in same orientation. If u want to replace front bearing remove the pulley first then 4 screws and pull front housing off.

@@AndyPMercedesBenzChannel Okay. I could not put a mark to re align because I was completely cleaning my alternators (I had two eventually and made a good one out of two not so good). However in your video I believe you have actually put the stator and thus the regulator back in 90 degrees incorrectly. Now given you 'Marked' where they should align before taking them apart, if it was not you then perhaps the person who had this before you made the mistake. In any case, it looks like then the earth is out of alignment by 90 degrees. What effect this will have though, I am not sure. Seeking advice from my engineering colleagues.

@@neilburns6118 it won't make a big difference, it will be just clocked different... Might create a small peoblem on installation... Depending how long are the wires to be attached to the alternator. I had no problems putting the alternator back in. Yomight have a different alternator model.
