I just play for fun usually 4s even up to 6s if we have a lot of people out. One of the things I've noticed is when the better players come out, a lot of them have habits vs. the chaos of intermediate and beginner players. Watch for habits. Sometimes a beginner is harder to play against because they do wild out of rhythm stuff. For instance a lot of good hitters when they get a bad set will cut it to catch someone sleeping vs. swing. Most hitters like angle, but some like the satisfaction of sending something line over a defender's head and watching them back pedal trying to get it. Just like you read the hitter for blocking, read them for digging too. You can fake them out by taking a step one direction away from where you want them to hit or serve but by being ready to go back. You can usually see if they're not going to hit a hard angle by their approach or if they slow up their arm swing. This is probably terrible advice, usually you get told keep your eye on the ball, but when it comes to someone about to hit, I think it's more important to watch the hitter's mechanics first and then switch to the ball. Hits usually take 1-2 seconds in beach, that's plenty of time to read the hitter and go back to the ball.
This is probably something you guys aren't familiar with, but where I live in Pennsylvania we have a competitive 6 man league that uses sawdust instead of sand. I'm not kidding. It's fine too, not like wood chips, but it's the perfect combination of firm yet still soft so a lot of us play barefoot. When we play 2's tourneys, I still am able to broad jump to the ball. So not a question, just a tale. Also, I love Taylor's reaction to being blocked by Riley. Never really played indoor much but realized now from this video that I probably don't need to move my feet too much (compared to what I'm used to) when I pass indoor, which might make things easier somehow haha (it just feels simpler/more chill in my head.) I'll think about it next time I happen to do the mistake of venturing onto a hardwood court..! :)
I actually found it pretty easy to learn. Simply stand side-on to the court, and swing your arm directly upwards through the ball or slightly angled away from the court. (To impart more spin, Carambula adds extra whip) Move your thumb to the side a little, so the ball is mainly bouncing off the side of your index knuckle. To get the right mix of height, distance and spin, you need to strike the ball off-center. Hi, you two! I have an idea for a video. I am struggling a lot with tight sets from my partner. What are solutions for me? Tooling? Pushing into the block? Poking past? Shooting over? What do I do? And how?

Keep doing this, guys!
As usual very entertaining. Here are some ideas on video tutorials: Attacking from the perspective a shorter player like Carambula. His service tutorial would be sick as well. What about a hand setting tutorial from Roberto Rafu Rodriguez? To share multiple perspectives on defense looks and/reads from the split blockers Bourne/Crabb?
one adjustment that I'm still struggling the most with is the fact that you cannot open hand receive in order to adjust for that do you guys just focus on good footwork to make sure you can always dig the ball when receiving?
Why jump straight up in sand? (I just watched another video and they suggest you jump forward). Seems like you could get more power jumping forward even if not as much as in indoor.
Do you guys have any videos on perfecting the hand contact bc lately my biggest problem is that i’ll paintbrush the ball or i will hit my wrist and i just can’t seem to make a solid hand contact
Would you be able to make a video on planning out defensive moves on a team? Like more of how to get your opponent to swing at you or into the block. Seems like there is more than just 1s2s3s and 4 blocks! Do u ever plan ahead for shoots set or any planned out attacks?
Maybe bring Taylor back for a hitting video about how to get out of trouble on tight sets - high hands, tool the outside arm, dink into the block to reset, etc. As a shorter player with inconsistent setters, I know this is an area I need to work on.
If you had to make an indoor volleyball team only using AVP players who would you recruit, what position would they play and how good would that team be? Also I'm really glad your uploading again!
By "faulty," if you mean a double contact or a lift, then I think it comes down to the duration of contact and the ability of the refs to see it. By which what I mean is, the contact is probably fast enough that the refs can't see the two distinct touches. Even the jam (which Katherine Plummer used a lot last season) seemed like a lift to me, but the refs never called it. Of course, this is just my understanding, so the pros like the McKb Brothers can weigh in.
I imagine I'm doing some good things for the algorithm as I go through these videos here and commenting on em but I want a hat! Those two-tone ones that are sold out on the website. They look great and I assume they'd look great on me too!
Why is it better to serve into the wind on a crossbreeze? Intuitively I would've thought it to be the other way around. A little elaboration would be great! :)
if I had to guess I would say it's because when it's going with the wind it's easier to go out. However, when it's against the wind you can put out more power and it still wont go out as easily (?)
@The McKibbin Brothers You forgot to explain how to receive a service from the opponent or crossing the ball over the net, as an indoor player when I went to play for beach I was told that I cannot receive the ball like I'm passing to my player using the fingers I must do the platform with my forearms to make the pass. I don't know if that's true or not but It was a bit complicated for me. Also when playing the third touch you can not cross the ball over the net as if you're setting with your fingers in beach volleyball, however this is allowed in indoor game. Can you clarify about those elements? This was very complicated for me when I tried beach volleyball I ended up not enjoying playing that game, I don't know about you guys but I prefer to stay indoors... 😎
I like how the “top five biggest differences” basically include every aspect of the game!
Everything except the name
Right! Lol “top five biggest differences” are everything
the higher the level of play the more these differences actually show tbh

Do you guys have any videos on perfecting the hand contact bc lately my biggest problem is that i’ll paintbrush the ball or i will hit my wrist and i just can’t seem to make a solid hand contact
Thankyou for this tips mc kibbin brothers..hi from Malaysia
@@themckibbinbrothers i wish i can meet u and learn something more about beach volleyball
THanks for uploading
Great video guys!!! THX
Brilliant guys
You're the bests!! Love you guys!! I'm a big brazilian fan!
If you had to make an indoor volleyball team only using AVP players who would you recruit, what position would they play and how good would that team be?
Also I'm really glad your uploading again!
@@themckibbinbrothers That's an awesome answer!Thanks
How about jumping drills, to improve your vertical jump.
As a beach youth player i don't get how indoor player sets are not faulty a lot of times.
How about serving when there’s 0 to very little wind? What type of serve should be used ?
Get Adrian crabrula to talk about sky balls 👍🏽🤪
Great video
This is freaking gold 🥇
Are two handed tosses better in beach than a one handed toss?
great video !!!
Great video ~ Overhand receiving strategies?
@@themckibbinbrothers ~ my mistake. How about methods for overhand digging? I ask because the transition for me has been quite difficult.
@@themckibbinbrothers I mean, it's legal, but it's just so hard to do without doubling or catching that nobody in their right mind tries it.
Just curious as to what you see in a hitter while blocking that will make you wait to predict that high line shot so you can swat it back down?
@The McKibbin Brothers
You forgot to explain how to receive a service from the opponent or crossing the ball over the net, as an indoor player when I went to play for beach I was told that I cannot receive the ball like I'm passing to my player using the fingers I must do the platform with my forearms to make the pass.
