this game looks insanse! In my own head I would like to think this is like a prequel to Samus' story in Metroid and that bird guy is like a Chozo "hero" who squashed bad aliens in the old days.
Sadly, it was a Sega Channel exclusive here on North America but got a cartridge release everywhere else. So, if you lived in North America, there would have been a 0% chance you would have seen this anyways.
Nice username. Sadly this got a physical release everywhere else except North America so the only way to play this on real hardware other than a good quality flash cart is to pay $300 for a PAL 50hz version which I would not recommend in an NTSC region & wouldn’t work on a genesis, or the Japanese release which is also the same but I’ve seen it go for $400 in some places
Originally there was gonna be 7 forms for 7th Force but they were cut unfortunately due to the harsh deadline the devs had at the time. Still the other 2 force names were Harpy Force and Nemesis Force.
OMG I remember playing this when I was 7. Never knew the name of the game but it was so cool. Thanks GDQ for bringing back memories! Never made it past the frog tho😂
@@hegyak Plus you can make the game run at slower speeds, which is a really underrated feature in general that I'd like to see in other games (besides Celeste)
@@hegyak I know this is 1 year old, but bosses are actually harder to kill too on Superhard. I remember timing out on some bosses because their health would go down more slowly
@@hegyakI am aware I am late as hell, but small correction: Superhard gives you 3 continues. Also, Phoenix Force costs 50 health (on Supereasy it only costs 30), bosses have *slightly* more health (barely noticeable) and there are more "Health Up" items strewn about. Other than that, though, yes, it's the same thing.

I went back and tried playing this game myself and it is SO MUCH harder than he makes it look here. Props for a great run
Boco Corwin
Ehh Gunstar heroes really isn’t that hard
This is one of the best game introduction and couch commentary in the history of GDQ. Pure awesomeness!
This game is gorgeous. I never heard of it. Thanks for the run.
This game is a work of art.

Greatest runner intro ever
If I had seen THIS game as a kid, I probably would've been sold on the Genesis.

It came out in 1995 too, so it's not like it would save skyrocketed the console's popularity if it had a regular retail release
There's no games likes this elsewhere. So yeah
Never played, but it looks an outstanding game. Great run!
One of the best 16bit era game and my fav Sega Megadrive game
The Asian Mega Drive Mini is getting this exclusively...AND Shining Force II. Best version by default!

Yay Alien Soldier :D
I can see some gunstar heros in this game
Same devs
I see where cuphead got it's inspiration.
This game is not easy
Supereasy has Infinite Continues. Superhard, has no continues. That's the only difference. Same bosses and enemies and everything else.
