It's sad how Capcom hired most of the pixel artists of this game (after the second SNK bankrupt) just for help with Street Fighter 3 (a beautiful sprite based FG) and never let them work with their IP's like Captain Commando, CnD and Final Fight.
Used to play this game all the time with my brother. Can't fathom beating one mission without dying 5 times, let alone the entire game @_@. Mad props to sukimos
You just bunny hopped my childhood to death! Amazing run from start to finish! Tried playing the game the other day and the same, I finished the game like you did but you are just short on 100 deaths than mine. 😂😂😂
Damn, I remember playing this on an Arcade when I used to go on holiday with my parents! Me and my brother would go at it for hours, but never succeed. Don't think we ever made it past that airplane boss.
I've beaten this game a ton of times as a kid and I don't remember it being that laggy. Is the PC port that bad? I bet he could've been like 20 secs faster, at least, if there wasn't that much lag. I'm willing to start speedrunning that game only because I remember so much about it, but that lag thing made me think twice 😭
Gabriel Tranquilli Even the arcade version is laggy (horribly laggy). This is because they used the same MS2 and added more things and better sounds, without upgrading the processing chip
He's playing on the arcade perfect port of Metal Slug, this mimics everything the original version had, including the lag. It's similar to playing the old Mega Man emulated games, where the game will also lag when plenty of things are happening on screen no matter how fast your computer or console is.
@@Shikadi01 Stranger still, I think Metal Slug 2 had far worse lag than Metal Slug X. Later games managed to fix some of the lag, but every Metal Slug game will lag to some extent.
There's no such thing as an "arcade perfect" PC port of Metal Slug. The existing PC ports are complete garbage. Trust me; I have Metal Slug X and Metal Slug 3 cartridges for my 4-slot MVS cabinet, and the PC ports don't even compare. (But yes, even the real thing lags quite a bit sometimes.)
