Fun fact: decorating Christmas tree was not so popular in Britain until British Queen Victoria met with her first cousin German Prince Albert. He brought decorated fir tree during Christmas party for her as gift. Then it became a great tradition of Christmas.

The first part is inaccurate, as the Scottish did not lose their country over an English war. Scotland had previously tried to set up a colony in Nova Scotia, but it wasn't successful, and they had to go back. They tried the same with panama, but after investing so much in it, they were bankrupt. Their only choice were to unite with England in 1701.
