These were wild when they were new, and I remember how controversial they were. Looking back, they aimed at the Range Rover but leaned more towards the sporty side and succeeded. The long-term quality was surprisingly good too. Some servicing is expensive, yes, but the reliability exceeded Range Rovers by a good margin.
I used to work at a Mb dealer back in 2010 & a 1st gen turbo came in with a Christmas tree dashboard. I drove it & was still shocked how sporty it was even in poor condition
@@McBeamer94 Agree - I was 19 when these came out and I remember me and most of my friends calling these flat out ugly, especially from the front, and the styling hasn't aged well at all - The BMW X5 was the looker, and of course the Cadillac Escalade was the "king of bling".

thank you kindly.
a lot of technology ahead of their time
This is random but it's kinda weird to think that the first Honda Pilot and the first Cayenne were introduced in the same year.
Cayenne, like the peppah.
Ultra-luxury SUV.
They criminally forgot that the first-gen offered an Off-Road pkg with lockers. Super rare, but it was offered in the States.
Still cant believe these came with low range!

I wish they'd go back to this styling. The new ones are so ugly
Absolutely, glad I’m not the only one who thinks so. 2010-2012 were the last of best designs
I respect your opinion but, frankly, it has always looked like a fugly car to me.

They used to be super ugly. Now they are slightly less ugly.
