  • Have you ever had a droopy / floppy columnar cactus in your collection? It has recently happened to me on a Bolivian Torch (Trichocereus Bridgesii) and in this video I will show you how I solved the problem.

    If you are interested in buying pure, well identified San Pedro seeds and seedlings, as well as San Pedro relatives, please email me at: sanpedromastery@protonmail.com
    If you have a question, I will only reply to questions about cultivation. Please no questions about the psychedelic properties of these cacti.

    I had no idea they grew this big. I've been a grower for about 6 yrs now and just got into succulents about 3yrs back. I was given a San Pedro from a dear friend and absolutely love this one. Thank you so much for sharing such great information with us!! 🌵

      I'm glad to hear you're enjoying the videos :). If you plant them in the ground, they can actually grow to a gigantic size, with many branches coming out of the base, each of them about 4 to 5 meters tall. I will probably do a video on this soon!

    Like your channel. Looking forward to more videos. I am amazed at how you handle the cacti and not seem to worry about the thorns.

      This strain of Bridgesii isn't too bad (few spines) but other strains are evil. One of them even took me to the hospital. That's why the spineless pachanois are my favorites!! ;)

    Also wettable sulfur powder can be brushed on to a slice or wound to help against infection if you don't mind using chemicals

    Great video😌🤲💖It's great you get so many San Pedro cuttings. Yes, I have never used rooting hormone, but I use insecticides because of the beetles in Japan, they lay eggs in the soil 'if the come' and their grubs eat all the root system. So, that's why I must use insecticides

      What kind of insecticide do you use? I am also in Japan and just starting with PC.

    Can you force a branch to grow by cutting a "notch" into an existing cactus, or does it need complete separation of the "head" to spawn new branches?

    • @anna-mh5ct
      @anna-mh5ct Рік тому +1

      Late, I know, but you can cover the tip to block all light and it will force the cactus to grow branches wherever the end of the cover is. You could cover half the cactus and it will grow branches halfway down. Just have to make sure all light is blacked out to the point you want the pup to grow :)

    This happens during season change and feedings .. ive also noticed it around solar and lunar activity .. most of them swell back up and correct themselves but I usually take it as a chance to cut it bqck for propagation or ceremony .

    Have you heard about using silicate and cal/mag for strengthening them?

  • @btardedbot2.2.62

    Things live and things die. Parts stay healthy. Some do not. Ye man. That's it. Clone it. Don't just save it. Make more instead of making it unnaturally massive. Unless it already is leaning /resting against something for balance /strength.
    When in pots they're more limited so they will not seem as strong/durable as their nature nurtured brothers and sisters. Pots go off balance too easily. So people have to support them instead. The roots are in a pot and don't get to branch/spread out its wiggly toed tips like when in the earth direct. I think beds are best for tall boys like san's&torches. I got my 1st peyote seeds in march. Only 3 germinated successfully outa the 10 seeds attempted. And out of that. 1 survived. 1 got scratches and it was just a tiny 3mm bobble no hairs at that point. Died 3weeks later and the 2nd that died was red all of sudden - after summer finished (surprisingly), coz usually red means too much sun. So I have no clue what went off. But I was at point where I was attempting tapering from using humidity tents. Maybe it still wanted the frosted plastic effect to further diffuse the already minimal non direct light that it received. I dunno. Life's a mystery. Science as a whole is never exact. Not even maths sometimes. So with nature having a Pandoras box at every turn, I think only the cactus knows why it died. I did my best with the knowledge I have and the help I got from others. It's all I could give it. It pained me to pull it out. He was very bogey like. But determined not to let a life go to waste. I wiped that lil booger into a jar of grains added with other types of Tryptamines to make mushroom spawn with a bang 👍😎🍄 every little helps

    I have four San Pedro's, and over two weeks all have gone floppy. At first I thought it was under watering, but two have happened since. I'm now thinking it's too much sun?

    I have propagate two of them 3 weeks before . Today i checked & then noticed mauled in the callus ..do i have to cut it & do the whole process again ?
    Thanks.

      Is the mold fuzzy? Then yes, cut it and do the process again. If the mold is "flat" then I would not worry about it as it is normal.

    Hey Dude, i have a little problem with your opinion about phytohormones, at least partially. First, it is true, that plantgrwothregulators and phytohormones can me dangerous for humans, especially the synthetic ones. But the Rootinghormones like IAA or IBA do occur natural in plants and they are pretty important for them. There is nothing wrong with using at least IBA or IAA for better rootings results, as long you dont inhale or swallow them. These natural hormones will just increase the concentration of the natural occuring IBA and IAA level at the bottom of the cuttings and will disappear over time. It wont be harmful to consume a cacti, which was treated with these two hormones, when you wont eat it within maybe one month or so. The artificial hormones are more dangerous and need a longer time to decompost within the plant, but they will also d isappear at some point. Nearly every single plant for foodproduction is treated with nasty chemicals while they are grown and you eat them. I am a horticulture engineer and i know what i am talking about. None or less your content is really good and i like your channel

    • @sanpedromastery6262
      @sanpedromastery6262  5 років тому +3

      No, these plants in Spain are legal (including peyote) as long as you use them for ornamental or botanic purposes. It is illegal to consume them.

      @@MEDJAIVEGAN If you run a cactus nursery in Spain, you should sell the plants as ornamentals. If one of your customers makes another use of it, that is his/her responsibility, not yours.

    Could u not have tried Bonsai wire wrapped around and gradualy tilting it back up? I use bonsai wire to train many plants.
    Edit: whoever gave u that plant u must regard highly. U said you value the pot and it shows.vnot just because U gave it a big pot and before that it was an airpot to avoid rootbound roots. Living in an apartment they take up more space and the plant isn't even one of the prettier ones.
