This is an original Chinese song with original Chinese lyrics, if I remember it correctly. The second part of English lyrics should be translation actually.

This is an absolutely perfect blend of cultures, feeling and music.

Whoever first said music is the universal language must have just listened to this. The ensemble is soul stirring and Abigail Washburn is just phenomenal. It seems impossible to imagine one person with her range... from her Bluegrass clawhammer banjo and Appalachian clogging to the Silkroad Ensemble! Perfection seems almost an understatement.

I’ve been a singer my whole life (opera, folk, a cappella, etc.) and also played piano and guitar, and now I’m learning to play the cello! My home is Manhattan (NYC). Well, Dvorak was heavily influenced by negro spirituals and native American songs when composing the New World Symphony. "Going Home" is a negro spiritual that pre-dates the New World Symphony.

I heard Chinese version of this when I was young and the lyrics were different and more classical. I think it's called 念故乡 (Missing Homeland). Have to say truely surprised by Abigail's voice and pronunciation. Was also following her being a banjo goddess.
