I was at this game, sophomore year of college, my first ever NFL game. I was going to college in Philly at the time and drove up that night (and back) with my best friend who is a cowboys fan. It’s a night I will never forget, truly one of the best experiences of my life. From the emotional 10 year anniversary of 9/11, it being the season opener on SNF after back to back trips to the AFC Championship Game and all the high expectations, going down 2 tds 24-10 to start the 4th, Revis being switched onto Dez and shutting him down (both passing tds were on Cro), the Romo fumble at the goaline, Sanchez fumbling it back, the quick forced 3 and out by the D, the freaking blocked by unsung hero McKnight (RIP) returned for a td, the Revis pick covering Dez when they finally decided to try him, the game winning field goal by Folk, it was madness! Just a magical night that I still talk about and will tell my future grandkids about. Unfortunately I also went the Jets-Eagles game in Philly later that year that was essentially the beginning of the end of that season and the downfall of the Rex-Tannenbaum-Sanchez era Jets. It was a brutal loss that they seemingly never recovered from. Crazy to think of everything that’s happened since then both personally and with the Jets and where we are today. If you told me then we wouldn’t make the playoffs for another decade plus+ but would have the best young roster in the NFL, a competent GM & coach, the OROY & DROY AND AARON BLEEPING RODGERS as our QB I would have never believed it. So excited for this year and the years to come, the future is looking bright… finally!
When Sanchez had his confidence the guy was a good QB. Some of his passes were tight and on target 🎯! I don’t care what anyone says the guy had talent his first few years!
Many were thinking this season’s September 11th matchup would be New York Jets vs. New York Giants. I think the reason why that didn’t happen is because the league wanted it to be a Jets home game.
I think the league didn't want to "waste" a Monday Night Football game on a single media market. But yeah, I thought the same thing. So did Aaron Rodgers fwiw.
It sucked that Mark was getting better but the team overall was getting worse due to age. And the GMs didn’t add any real young talent, had no dynamic players on offense. Anyways this game was awesome, Bryant going off then prime time match up vs Revis was epic
No, Sanchez' problem was that he rushed his reads. Football outsiders did a really LONG study of his games, and then had an article that went through footage of every throw of a single game, and noted where his head was and where the open receiver was. He would be throwing to the check down at the same time as, like, his 2nd read became available. It was so common that FO stopped captioning the pictures with any detail and were just writing "dude." with an arrow pointing to the open guy. He actually threw like a player who expects the line not to hold, except he had one of the best in the league. I think he was just never able to transition past the single-read offense he ran out of USC.
@@HarrisonHollers He wssn't an unconfident guy. Also, did you notice Santanio Holmes and Plaxico Burress as his targets in this game? The year before he had Braylon Edwards instead of Burress. And one of the best offensive lines in the league. You can say he failed to develop confidence but they're just words. Where's the film? So many opinions... just to be a casual lol
I was at this game too.....unfortunately the only memorable thing about that 8-8 season. Butt Fumble the next year to kick off a decade of nothingness and heartbreak. I hope I'm not super optimistic for this year.
?? Standing for the anthem means honoring the nation? That’s called freedom. But sending troops to the Middle East and neglecting their care once they return is what? It’s BS!

Those were the days that you never heard Darrelle Revis name until the opposing QB got desperate enough to test him.
Preview of week 2 this year, except I don't think it's going to come down to the last second. ARod and that Jets D are going to win it in style.
