Fastest skater on his team Shot clocked over 100/ Not too shabby. and who ever really whupped him? Brashear? Nope, not even laracque. He drove Probert half crazy. 5-10 and a solid 210. Wish we'd had him in Vancouver
Tie Domi # Drafted: 27th overall by Toronto Maple Leafs - 1988. # 16 NHL seasons, representing 3 NHL teams: Toronto Maple Leafs (1989 + 1995-2006), New York Rangers (1990-1992) and Winnipeg Jets (1992-1995). # 2 AHL seasons, representing: Newmarket Saints (1989-1990) and Binghamton Rangers (1990-1991). # 1989 OHL league champion (J. Ross Robertson Cup) with Peterborough Petes. # 1,020 NHL season games played + 98 NHL play-off games. # 3,515 NHL penalty minutes = 3rd career highest of all times in NHL history. # All-time NHL leader in hockey fights with 333. NOTES: # In the autobiography of former teammate Mats Sundin (2023), Sundin spoke very highly of Domi and had the deepest respect for his craft and incredible workmanship. # Domi carried the role of on-ice bodyguard of both Teemu Selanne (Jets) and Mats Sundin (Maple Leafs). # In 1995, Domi famously knocked New York Rangers defenceman Ulf Samuelsson unconscious with a sucker punch to the face. Domi was suspended 8 games and heavily fined for the incident, described by some as one of the cheapest shots in NHL history. Domi insisted that Samuelsson provoked the punch by repeatedly calling him "dummy". This has been regarded by Bruins fans as "Karma" for Samuelsson's clash with Cam Neely years prior! Samuelsson and Neely had a great beef in there careers.
As an Islanders fan I couldn't stand Domi when he was on the Rangers. But as a hockey fan I have the utmost respect for Tie Domi. He played the game the way its supposed to be played, and he played the game like a man. I'm happy to see the name carried on through his son.
Very good documentary on a great player. I looked this up because his son just started playing for Dallas Stars. I see a lot of his dad in his playing. I wish him nothing but the best.
Met him at the airport in New York his first game back there with Winnipeg Jets and told him how much us fans would miss him and He said “I’ll miss all you guys (the fans) you treated me great when I was a Ranger “ he shook my hand and gave that great smile 😊
Such a great video. I just admire the hell out of the tradition of hockey, where these tough guys used to exist. They had a job to do, and they did it. While I know Tie was cocky at times, almost all of these scrappers did so with humility. There was a tradition of not showing guys up, and I like that. It takes a lot of heart to be an enforcer, and all those guys had it in spades.
Gotta love Don Cherry..hes not afraid to say whats on his mind.."tree huggers" lol i miss the days of Tie Domi and Darcy Tucker on the Leafs. Those guys played with intensity and heart, now we got guys that are more worried about starring in commercials, romancing with Bieber and comparing paychecks.
Being from Windsor, Adam Graves was my childhood hero-leading the Spitfires to the Mem cup finals back in the day. Also half my family is in Belle River. It’s only about 40 min outside Windsor. All that and the fact that Bob Probert and Ed Jovananivsky are also from here to name a few--this place was not devoid of some great hockey roll models-especially Tie Domi. I’m only 5,10” 185. He showed me that these things are not the final say when it comes to sticking up for your guys-on and off the ice, and that’s its important that you do it. It speaks to loyalty, unity, and it builds relationships. lol. And they call Windsor a Detroit suburb lol
What are you talking about ...a dirty fighter and complete cheap shot player and never followed the code, he went out to hurt players and as per off ice ..having affairs with a married lady .... LOYAL ya right
@@canucks4961 You would be the first one happy he was protecting you on the ice, kid's seemed happy and doing well, you seem to have your own "codes" as having an affair was almost a requirement to be in the sport and on the road. It's people who wouldn't be able to do better that are usually the jealous ones. Your mother is calling..lol
@@freedomfighter69 Having an affair was a requirement , GET SOME MEDS, what a totally insane comment , and by the way clown he had it after hockey, as per jealous believe me I'm fine , and since you have no problems with cheating ,,,who's your daddy...pathetic .. Bye Bye KEVIN
A rare breed and a Good Hockey player who played THE GAME ! He NEVER went looking for a fight BUT the other teams knew HE WAS ALWAYS READY AND AVAILABLE .He earned every cent he made unlike some of the 10 mil one way softies of today who keep turtles at home to practice with !
Always been an Oilers fan but liked 4 other players outside of my team: Gilmour, Bure, Linden and Domi. I remember cutting him off of cereal and KD boxes in the 90s and taping them to my door. haha what a beast, sometimes I miss the 90s..
Exellent and very kind movie, I very like it. Tie Domi exellent toughtguy, teammate and friend for all guys for all team where he played. Tie need to give a coup of fighting lessons to his son Max. Max very talanted player, but he need to fight much better )))
Great video. Read his book if you get a chance. It changed my whole perception of him. He’s a guy you want on your side. He also did a great job raising his children. Max is a stellar kid.
Does his book explain and rationalize why he humillated the game by diving all over the ice like a girlish soccer player?? THAT would be an EPIC chapter bahahahahahahahaa

We miss and Love you so much Grapes!!! You are CANADA!!! To hell with mclean the turn coat putz
Love you to my death, genuine in all and I'm a life long Detroit Red wings fan. Good stuff Tie, you deserve everything good that you get. I'll buy you a steak dinner with all the fixings and all the booze you can handle. All you gotta do do is say so.Great people come from great families, your family is outstanding.
Tie is an icon. #28 my whole childhood. Where would I be without that influence!? I'm joking! Love and respect always for Domi. Showed up to games on occasion with my Domi 28 jersey. Devastating to lose that jersey 18 years ago.😣
lol funny how I watched all those games and watched your 'icon' dive all over the ice like a soccer player lol. You obviously never played hockey. Those of us who did, were embarrassed by this demented little cokehead, and yes he WAS and still is a cokehead. Remember when he turtled and let Big Jim Mckenzie smash his head off the ice?? Ya, he did that because Jim HAD to fight him because it was the first game after Domi cheapshotted Neidermeyer in the last years playoffs. Bid Jim said later that he'd never had another tough guy disgrace the code, and do it so shamefully. Turtlin Tie was what players called him from then on. I got this story from Corson, who told me Tie was avoided by teammates because he was a rotten person. There's your icon bahahahahahaaa
I feel the same way man. Where would I be? If it weren’t for Tie’s influence I never would have had the resilience and mental strength to get my GED while imprisoned at Collins Bay Correctional Facility back in the 90s after a string of assault charges. Now I’ve put my violent ways behind me and operate a forklift at a Sobeys warehouse for some pretty decent coin. Life has been good, thanks Tie!
To bad Domi didn't stay with the Rangers he would have won a Stanely Cup with big bad Mountain Mark. M. the leading Captain who lead the Rangers to the cup finals then the victory.. Mark also predicted the sixth game which was printed in their local newspaper that they would win the sixth game to stay in the series for a seventh game!!
the 2 guys at the end were closing closing closing in on the little domi, and then ... they both got corrected!! like twins! lol. not the best look for them 2. lmao..
Gil Stein had no business being involved in the NHL. Worst thing that ever happened to the game. You know all those guys who ended up with broken wrists? They have you to thank for it
I'm a Domi fan but let's be honest he hit probie 3 times compared to probies 7 or 8 bombs. How can a guy who connects 3 out of 20 swings. He caught probie, really just grazed him. Sorry but he never beat Bob
Domi would like you to think that Probert thought of him as his toughest opponent. Guess you can make up crap like that when the other guy can't speak for himself.
Funny to heart Probert made comments about cockiness when he was winning most of his fights because he was cheating by fighting with a jersey way too loose that he would almost always lose it in every fight, giving him a tremendous advantage! No respect at all for him and Dave Brown, they both did not need to cheat in order to win fights.
Hell of a nice guy !! Used to run into him after retirement at Apache Burger in the west end of Toronto. Always a nod or eye contact. People would swarm him for this or that ,Always a smile ,me I just give him the nod . Sure he appreciated that more than a swarm . Lace em up Tie ,we could use your grit
Thanks for the upload. Remember watching this all the time as a kid.
I thought that was a really well-made documentary. It is nice to find out how multi-talented Tie is.

I totally agree with Probert(RIP) the after fight theatrics by Domi were uncalled for

Dude has a GIANT head!
WTF - Domi actually has a cute sister? How's that possible?
Clearly, Domi dropped his gloves the same time Probert did. He acted like Probert jumped him and he wasn’t ready for it.
Yeah and bringing up how the commissioner told both of them they would be fined if they fought, Probert didn’t mention anything about that
Great video!
I Love You Tie!
Tie Domi, welcome at our dinnertable anytime!
That was 👏 awesome!!
I have this on vhs thank u!
Its n Albanian thing , loyalty and stand by ur friends!!
3:08 - who woulda thunk Tie has a sister who's a looker!
I agree she's very attractive
I was thinking the same!
This doc is at least 25 years old, so she's probably not much of a looker anymore....
She took all those pretty genes so Domi is ugly
Definitely an extremely talented individual but he'd be the first one to tell you.
Massive cokehead for what it's worth........
I really like this dude.
❤ my all time favourite player
tie's kid obviously didn't inherit his dad's fighting ability. man, he got rag-dolled by sam bennet in the game last night.
That was awesome
Domi is a BEAUTY
Awesome guy
Now elbowing a guy is a 10 game suspension
Lived at my Grams house in Binghamton...funny,gamer
The elbow on Niedermeyer one of the cheapest shots ever
Tie Domi looks like Tie Domi and Dash Domi had a baby.
This guy was an absolute ANIMAL. A dirty player....but for some reason, i cant bring myself to dislike him. LETS GO RANGERS!!!

Great fighter, entertainer. Could be nasty sometimes
Domi couldnt play professional soccer need i say why?
What a lie, Domi trying to make excuses for getting his ass beat by Probert. His gloves were off first. Man delusional!
Best who ever played
Your father battling against communists in the 1950's sounds like a bit of a stretch considering the communists had been in power there since 1946.
