I just appreciate that my city hasn’t had a school shooting yet, our main problem is drug users and hit and runs. cars killing kids walking the cross walk on “accident”, when clearly the student had right of way at a red light (for the car).
It’s sad that one I work in education and two I send my kids to school and worry about them getting killed cuz some kid with problems could shoot up a school. Parents worry like crazy this could happen. I worry it will happen at my daughters high school. Kids carry weapons on them everyday. It’s really scary.

It has a lot to do with being at home for a year. The pandemic has impacted mental health, some people suffer abuse at home and other causes which I don’t remember at the moment.

Of course the pandemic has had an affect on mental health, but so does poverty, poor health, lack of access to affordable healthcare, being unable to afford to start a family, housing insecurity etc etc etc. Covid has highlighted those problems, but it wasn’t a virus that created them.

I graduated from this school and I literally live across from it, it sucks that this happened and it was really sad to watch the news all day praying that no one got killed and luckily no one did.. but I’m also not as surprised that this happened at this school the staff doesn’t ever do much whenever there is a fight loose or drama going on between students they just stand and watch just yell at them to stop. Also you couldn’t even confront the teachers about the situation cause in the end they don’t help. Don’t get me wrong they’re were good teachers I liked but the rest of the staff in my opinion sucked and bullying, fights, drama between students/teachers was bad man. I’ve seems some kids get bullied hard i honestly thought they would shoot the school up I had back up plans on how I’d escape but luckily I graduated and everyone I know did as well and thankfully everyone today made it out okay

I and a friend found a kid in our grade shopping for guns on the school laptops. They had 0 knowledge of the situation until we showed them the videos and the pictures we captured, also considering we have had multiple threats of shootings
BLM said putting metal detectors in school was racist. They even made a 2018 documentary about it. It just so happens that same school in the 2018 documentary had a school shooting occur the very next year after the metal detectors were removed.

I'm a junior in highschool, and I'm terrified to go to school sometimes and even when I'm not, it always in the back of my mind that things like this could potentially happen. I think that it's horrible that kids have to be worried about being in danger at a place that is supposed to be safe.

The suspect was 18 years old in illegal procession of a handgun. He picked a fight got his ass kicked then preceded to open fire. No one was killed and school resource officers responded immediately saving lives.
Most likely they get guns from their parents. When I was in school years ago there’s many times I wish I had a gun to use but glad I didn’t have access or else I would of ruined my life and others.

The worst that ever happened in any of my schools was a knife being brought, it was never used just brought. The guy who brought it was upset that someone took his girl, you guys need to teach your kids about self-control and consequences.
I always bring a knife to school for self defense if anything happens. My classmate brought an actual katana though lol. And one brought a Taser in a shape of a flashlight(had fun with this one lol). But most of these didn't get used, except for maybe the knife which I used to threaten someone because they were getting in my nerves. And the Taser which we tased people for fun... The katana was a reserved trump card in a turf war we had with students of another school.

@@Skxtra. I did in fact threaten someone with a knife in elementary, it was a big blunt knife and I did it infront of all my classmates, and I do have a knife in my bag almost always. The Taser was brought by my friend, and we tested if it to people who gave an okay to be tased... But we did play with it scaring others using it lol. The katana was brought by my classmate, he only brought it twice... During the turf war it was never used and it was just given to me, the whole duration of the fight. And I personally didn't fight in the turf war, I did watch a bunch of guys from the other school get beat up though.

Is because we kinda have a reputation of being model students, who wouldn't hurt a fly, despite how I sound I've only gotten into a fight twice. The School Guard for example, while he would check everybody's bag for contrabands, and he would often skip me and just let me pass the gate... Also since it's a school with many students the guards wouldn't take more than 30 Secs in checking the bags. So even if they did check I can hide them in my folders, envelopes etc, anywhere where people think it's a hassle to check.

My best friend goes to that school, I was terrified because he wouldn’t reply, I was at the state fair and just broke down worrying about him, he’s thankfully ok, but that was a horrible experience
Honestly, yup. I'm not in school anymore (graduated in 2007, I'm 31 now so it's been a while since school for me) but if I had kids, they'd all be homeschooled the world is far too dangerous now. As far as socialization, one of my aunt and uncles homeschooled all 5 of their kids in the 90s, even back then there were homeschool groups you could join, smaller and with other homeschool kids. It's a different way of socializing the kids, but it works and my cousins loved being homeschooled, I remember they'd do school for like 4-5 hours per day vs the standard of nearly 8 at least here in Canada.
I thought they had metal detectors in most schools nowadays anyway. How did the guy think he'd get away with that. But what could have happened is the guy was getting bullied and knew he was probably gonna have trouble, so he decided to take a gun.
I wonder if that school shooter was being tormented by his bullies non-stop and the school would do nothing about it. So he had to do something to finally stop them for good. Sad.

Parents were so ready to send the students back but this violence is still going on in schools. It's crazy sad I live in Texas and they did catch the suspect at least. And one of the 4 injured students was stubborn enough to refuse medicinal treatment
yeah is unfortunate, i also live in arlington and was less than a mile away from that school, my school is straight across from it, we can see eachother schools. some of our students heard the gunshots, we got lockdown twice and got released early. dam, crazy how we could see the police and everything from my school to the one shown in the news.

It happened near where I live. The shooter was an 18 year old student who was being bullied and he decided to take a gun and start shooting at his bullies. He was arrested and had since bonded out but hes getting a lot of support its troubling. I deeply understand he was being bullied but innocent people could have been killed because of his decisions.

I remember the day of the shooting I got out during a tennis game, and moments after I approached the bench, my friend was there exclaiming to me about the shooting. I looked at him with skepticism until the coach who was sitting next to him confirmed it. I was traumatized when I realized it was happening at that same moment, and now I don't even feel safe at school as much as I used to. But thank god, there is an officer at my school and I always see him during my lunch period.

There have been school shooting for a long time sadly. However, the crossover with the lockdown is that it has caused people to have a harder time in social situations, and many people became depressed during the lockdown. It caused mental deterioration and thus, when it was over, violence erupted. However, it is important to note that the lockdown was vital to avoiding COVID. We would probably be much worse off had we not lockdowned.
This actually happened in my area, and even though my school was pretty far from there, we still had to go into lockdown due to threats of the shooter coming to my school

It’s not technically an invasion of privacy because it’s private property and they can deny entry if you refuse to put your backpack on the table. Just a year ago I was trying to walk to my class and then 2 guys break into a fight and I was right between them, one guy tried to pull out a gun but ended up dropping it and a teacher pushed him down before he could pick it back up I now suffer with high anxiety and Homeschooled
Our new school rule if there is an armed person is: everyone leave the building and run towards the neighborhood houses, we’ll figure out who died and went missing later.

BLM said putting metal detectors in school was racist. They even made a 2018 documentary about it. It just so happens that same school in the 2018 documentary had a school shooting occur the very next year after the metal detectors were removed.

I'm a junior in highschool, and I'm terrified to go to school sometimes and even when I'm not, it always in the back of my mind that things like this could potentially happen. I think that it's horrible that kids have to be worried about being in danger at a place that is supposed to be safe.

The worst that ever happened in any of my schools was a knife being brought, it was never used just brought. The guy who brought it was upset that someone took his girl, you guys need to teach your kids about self-control and consequences.
I always bring a knife to school for self defense if anything happens.
My classmate brought an actual katana though lol.
And one brought a Taser in a shape of a flashlight(had fun with this one lol).

The Taser was brought by my friend, and we tested if it to people who gave an okay to be tased... But we did play with it scaring others using it lol.
The katana was brought by my classmate, he only brought it twice... During the turf war it was never used and it was just given to me, the whole duration of the fight.
And I personally didn't fight in the turf war, I did watch a bunch of guys from the other school get beat up though.

The School Guard for example, while he would check everybody's bag for contrabands, and he would often skip me and just let me pass the gate... Also since it's a school with many students the guards wouldn't take more than 30 Secs in checking the bags. So even if they did check I can hide them in my folders, envelopes etc, anywhere where people think it's a hassle to check.

Honestly, yup. I'm not in school anymore (graduated in 2007, I'm 31 now so it's been a while since school for me) but if I had kids, they'd all be homeschooled the world is far too dangerous now. As far as socialization, one of my aunt and uncles homeschooled all 5 of their kids in the 90s, even back then there were homeschool groups you could join, smaller and with other homeschool kids. It's a different way of socializing the kids, but it works and my cousins loved being homeschooled, I remember they'd do school for like 4-5 hours per day vs the standard of nearly 8 at least here in Canada.

yeah is unfortunate, i also live in arlington and was less than a mile away from that school, my school is straight across from it, we can see eachother schools. some of our students heard the gunshots, we got lockdown twice and got released early. dam, crazy how we could see the police and everything from my school to the one shown in the news.

It happened near where I live. The shooter was an 18 year old student who was being bullied and he decided to take a gun and start shooting at his bullies. He was arrested and had since bonded out but hes getting a lot of support its troubling. I deeply understand he was being bullied but innocent people could have been killed because of his decisions.

I remember the day of the shooting I got out during a tennis game, and moments after I approached the bench, my friend was there exclaiming to me about the shooting. I looked at him with skepticism until the coach who was sitting next to him confirmed it. I was traumatized when I realized it was happening at that same moment, and now I don't even feel safe at school as much as I used to. But thank god, there is an officer at my school and I always see him during my lunch period.

There have been school shooting for a long time sadly. However, the crossover with the lockdown is that it has caused people to have a harder time in social situations, and many people became depressed during the lockdown. It caused mental deterioration and thus, when it was over, violence erupted. However, it is important to note that the lockdown was vital to avoiding COVID. We would probably be much worse off had we not lockdowned.
This actually happened in my area, and even though my school was pretty far from there, we still had to go into lockdown due to threats of the shooter coming to my school
