  • Hey All! Sorry for the huge delay in posting. I have been extremely busy this summer working in the marine industry, making money to fix up the boat to keep adventuring! I recently made a website where I am selling InTooDeep T-T-Shirts to help support my travels! I also made a Patreon. If you would like to support my work and travels check it out!

    Hi There,
I am a retired senior who just sold his last boat recently due to physical restrictions and I had to tell you that your video's are not only the best content I've seen in a long time, they also give me the same type of enjoyment I had boating all my 25 years.
    Keep up the good work.

If Coldplay is your definition of "epic taste in music" then I feel bad for you... 😂 There's more good music being made now than ever, but for some reason people like you can't figure out how to find it. Contrary to what you say, 50 years ago young people were much less likely to be able to gather the info necessary to renovate a boat like this unless they were born into it. If it weren't for the internet, he'd be much more likely to end up slaving away in a factory somewhere with no path for upward mobility.

Your boat can take a lot more than that. It is a Hatteras. When you can no longer sea the wave tops from the cockpit, then you will know how seaworthy that boat is. Now whether or not you can take it is a different story.

Badass. You know you're salty when you bust out the 6 on/6 off watches. Steaming 24/7 in the open ocean is the real deal, reminds me of my last sea tour. Folks who haven't done it wont understand.
You should look into a dual racor rig for each engine. That way you can run off one while you clean out the other and you never have to worry about fuel starvation at 0200 in 20kts 😅

As a suggestion those Perspex covers over your fly bridge gauges ( which are crazed) replace it with 6 mm laminate glass, it’s super cheap and lasts forever. I replaced all my Perspex windows on my yacht with slightly tinted laminate 6mm. Best thing I ever did.

I really enjoy your videos, Gus. I think you're doing a great job on the Hatteras. That bad boy is built like a tank and should be able to handle most seas you encounter near shore. Hey Mister :) Nice tunes. Thanks for sharing. I miss this so much. I had a boat in shoreline CA and used it often. I miss those overcast grey dark green overtoned cloud mild sea days cruising with the dolphins, the engines synked, the sound of the water making way for the bow 20kts and screeming at the top of my lungs just me and God. My son and I did alot of coastal trips and had our share of ...... advetures...12 kts in the water 3 kts over ground dishes flying deck leaving your feet. surfing unintetionally down a rearward swell rolling the boat over one screw out of the water type of stuff. (sigh) It happens out there however when I saw the look on my daughters face when she saw a baby dolphin playining with her mom following us in the wake while the bull males protected them....priceless. It is those things that gets you hooked and you feel as though you will ever be without it? I hope not and wish you many days with your lover the sea. Best regards to you in all your endeavors, Thomas

Your videos bring back such great memories, especially when your cruising through L.I.Sound up to Plymouth Massachusetts. That boat is literally tank! Gus, Love your videos and I really like you personally! Your parents did a great job! You have the perfect amount of confidence, skill, humility, patience and stick-to-itiveness. And you seem like a really fun guy on top of all that! So this is not criticism, just a couple comments. Google "How to properly fly the flag from a yacht". (The flag company should have known the correct size flag to send) and you fly it from the stern. Boats/Yachts don't have steps or stairs, they have ladders. There is not an up stairs or down stairs, it is below, down below or below decks, and there is "topside" Google some nautical terms, you'll be a crusty old salt in no time! Keep up the great work!!!

I think you should spend more time to storing things away properly. Making sure everything is tied down properly.. if you wait for something to break before you put it in its right place it may be too late you're out there by yourself plan ahead what can go wrong will and ship straight and ship tight is not just an old saying

Welcome back! I enjoy your videos and look forward to more. Based on the pitch and roll when you hit the ocean, I assume your Hatteras doesn’t have stabilizers. Any thought to adding a Gyro?

Being solo shouldn’t you have some kind of remote engine kill switch or mechanism in case something weird happens

@19.30 or so, you say the camera doesn't do justice to the sea state. THAT is because the camera uses a wider angle lense than your eyes, and your camera is flattening the image. IF you wanted the camera to show a better representation of the sea state you have to lower the camera so that the camera lens is just barely above the water...or about the level of the middle of the waves. In Hollywood they raise the cameras to make tall actors appear shorter...same thing as is happening to waves.

Well done, great trip, especially singlehanded. I've done that trip southbound a couple of times on different boats. However, as a Brit the 'totally awesum, and " fricking everything" is hard to hear so frequently. Perhaps on further videos you can contain your OTT enthusiastic comments a bit. Nevertheless I salute you for your endeavours.

You really need to get into the habit of walking thru ship before passage departures and stow anything
    that may cause problems.
Once the shit hits the fan it to late and difficult.
