People in the South are not dumb that they would only watch masala films. Look at Banglore, Hyderabad, and Chennai. These three cities have the majority of IT, Corporate, and start-up jobs. People in the South are well educated. They treat cinema as a medium of pure entertainment. And, that's how it should be. Bollywood tries to preach something in movies that they don't practice.

Totally agree, people go for theatre for entertainment and in India any movie is incomplete without emotions.
Why super hero movies from Marvel are performing better not from DC? Marvel has connect with people have emotions, from DC Aquaman or Batman was super hit because it has emotional connect others are flop or not able to bring people to theatre...

You are right. Languages, culture, dress style, food habits, color & complexion may be different from state to state. However, under current snd bottom line is feelings and emotions are sane irrespective of religion or language etc. When British left India in 1947, they thought this country will break into 24-26 nations depends on their language. However, to their utter surprise, it is still as one nation even after 75 years. Also this became an argument for British when concept of European Union emerged few years back to convince Germans and French.
Our emotions, feelings, sentiment and reaction to a particular incident remain same. Only difference is some react more and some less. That’s all. Otherwise, we all one.

South has lots of weekly magazines. The movie reviews in these magazines have evolved a lot. Audience value the scores given by these magazines a lot. I lived 20 years in North India. Hardly witnessed any movie reviews and people talk about these reviews. Movie makers learn a lot through these reviews.
When I was growing in South India, people used to scare me, if I learn Hindi I will become dumb...how true it is!!!!!!!!

You do realize that it’s Bollywood itself that has created that culture (due to a refusal to adopt local Mumbai culture due to their high handedness and being detached from their own culture due to location).There’s no ‘Bombay’ culture in reality as is seen in Bollywood movies …it only exists in the imagination of a few who aspire to work in the industry.Mumbai like any other city has its own real and unique culture which has nothing to do with movies.I’m from the city and cannot identify with any ‘Bollywood’ movie at all.It’s a weird mix of contrived western/Punjabi/UP/ whatever they think looks cool at that point in time.Almost nobody can even speak any language fluently.It’s sad to see.I do agree if they want to survive they need to start working on Hindi films as a regional language for which they will have to at least partially move to the Hindi heartland.

South movies are reflecting their own culture, but bw is not the culture indication of the particular bcos hindi cinemas are watching east west, north and south which indicates some upper class culture of some north states.. Generally.
In simple terms:
South people are happy that their films are accepting by North people, no where comparing with bollywood movies
North People are accepting and praising South movies , infact north people are removing their frustration on bollywood because they felt some South movies are better than some bollywood movies.
some middle men might be some section of media or some Bollywood related people bringing controversy of north & south, so that north people start hating south movies.. forget all bullshits

Some pros and cons will be there so accept the reality and support good content movies either of south or north…🙏🙏 I’m from south … we South Indians have good memories with Bollywood movies , we grown up watching Bollywood movies, our respect will never fade towards Bollywood… if we speak something bad about Bollywood we feel we are backstabbing Bollywood because Bollywood in our heart too , we don’t want to become bigger than Bollywood, we are happy that our north, east ,west & north East Indians accepted our movies , even people from other countries …. Earlier our movies were seen by many north people , dubbing was not good but too they accepted , I hope all our movies re dubbed and re released in profession way so all will get to watch quality dubbed south movies…. Bhola by Ajaydevgan is best example why Bollywood's backbone is getting weakened movie by movie. Fix it and Industry will bloom like its olden days.
Finally someone said it.
Its only now that audience has changed and bollywood will catch upto that. Before nobody watched such movies. It true. There were so many movies about mumabi riots, train blasts, realistic movies about partition like pinjar, (unlike gadhar a highly theatrical movie ) and were good realistic movies. Nobody watched those. Because indians being poorer didnt want to watch tragedy. All my classmates, people in family, relatives used to say this. "We watch movies to feel good, we have enough tragedy around us" Now with people live's improved, we have luxury to sit back and think about these issues. I do agree, some people in hindi film industry were arrogant and falling for stereotypes about south and even north east. And that criticism is perfectly valid. But to say that people in bollywood are dumb and make bad movies is wrong and untrue.
He is also wrong about maldives comments. Most of the movies of sunny deol, mithun chakravorty, akshay kumar, and even older movies were about "common indian man". So much so that it was a trope. And even in south movies people shoot songs in foreign. The hate that structured towards bollywood, is because of right wing. As bollywood has lots of muslims celebrities and is so called "secular". Sad to see people getting trapped in this.

Its true that people have liked non Hindi movies as well because of Masala Genre only. I don't agree ab whatever Sesh is saying. You cannot also compare a south movie just by RRR. Not every south movie is of Rajamouli's.
I have grown up watching Mass, Don No. 1, etc. And I know what genre i was watching.

Whatever movies like u watched are bygone era of only Telugu cinema like Don etc. Tamil and Malayalam always had content, now Telugu cinema budgets are huge and quality of sets, content, etc. Increased like anything.
