This is a wonderful song when they play it live. An anthem that the audience can sing along to. Yes I had the moist eyes when I saw the Yokohama concert stream live and whenever I revisit the dvd. I feel so jealous and envious when I read through the comments of those that have seen the Band live. I still can appreciate them through their live DVDs. This is the time of year that reminds me of the sudden change in health to a family member many years ago. So I appreciate how important music and especially Band Maid help in times like that. All the best to you and your family and thanks for this journey through their catalogue.
I understand your jealousy -- I have it too! :-) I am praying to what I hope is the Band-Maid kami and asking for another U.S. tour that includes Texas so I can see them this time. :-) Thank you for the well-wishes.
I feel Band-Maid's longevity and success will become Endless Stories in the annals of Rock ‘n Roll history! Thx, Chan! Hope all remains strong with you and yours!
This particular song was written as a *BAND-MAID* anthem for big arena and *BAND-MAID* perform this at Welcome to Rockville in Florida and was a night and the crowd was singing along. Also you should check out 2022 tour in Chicago that would bring tears to your eyes. 😢 Well I wish you all the best for yourself and your family ! 🙂
It's a perfect anthem song... The American in me wants that last refrain to repeat a few more times (we were raised on infinitely repeating song-endings, weren't we?) But Band-Maid is teaching me that less is more, with their brief guitar solos and snappy song endings. :-)
First of all, I would like to wish you and your family all the best in dealing with the situation you have found yourselves in. Stay strong! (I know you will.) I grew up in Hawaii and have been to the black sand beach at Punalu'u on the Big Island, but man, it was a long time ago. This is such a great song and their performance of it at Yokohama brought tears to my eyes with its sincerity and emotional power. Maybe the Maids are speaking to you. 👍 By the way, you should take a look at Ohrenje's documentary of that concert.
I was born in Hawaii but have almost no memories of it because we left when I was so young. It might have been that same beach (I'm really not sure) that I visited. It was 1978 when we left Japan and stopped at half a dozen Pacific locations -- including Hawaii -- on the way back. Thank you for the well-wishes; we're going to do our best and when I need a boost, I have Band-Maid as my emotional support. :-)
I didn't know they filmed this on Oshima. My wife and I visited Oshima a few times over the years, very interesting place. The first time was only a couple years after the volcano erupted in the 1980s. What a scene for this MV. "No giving up-this struggle is the mark of life." No truer words have ever been spoken, life is both struggle and joy, that is what makes it real. I hope the best for you and your family member with the health issue, always a hard situation to work through, but as you said we all must at some point in life.
Oshima certainly looks like an interesting place. :-) As for the family, I think we're finding our "new normal". It's an adjustment and an emotional roller coaster, but I suppose it could have been much worse. :-)
PRS doesn't do all that many signature models, so for Kanami to have one is a real and well-deserved honor. As far as the Endless Story mv, those are drone shots. Band-Maid uses drone shots extensive when shooting outdoors. There's a behind the scenes video available on their website (fan-club only) for Endless Story showing this. As to the live video, yes, it's the last song of a 3 hour 40+ minute show. It's an absolutely amazing concert, beginning to end.
Thanks for the confirmation on the drones. I kind of thought it had to be, but I've seen a few boom shots with wide-angle lenses that appear to be drones, so I wasn't sure. :-)
Everytime I watch the live video of this song, I can't help but shed a tear (or two) and remember that night and how it was one of the most magical moments in my life as a music lover and concert goer. I had to sit there after the lights came up and compose myself, such an array of emotions. Thanks for the reaction and I hope everything works out in the long term for you and your family. Cheers!
That's amazing you were able to attend -- by all accounts it was one of the best (if not THE best) shows of their career. As for my family, thank you. We have decent health insurance for now, which makes a ton of difference.
This song was a bucket list items for the band. Playing it in a large arena…Saiki added the beginning and ending parts for this concert to thank their fans. You can see that it was emotional for all of them…to accomplish a goal you set is always emotional and gives you the energy to come up with more goals. Which I believe they have and are..I.e. forming of MAIDIT, Ltd, Kanami’s signature PRS and let hope a world tour! World Domination is near! 🤘🕊️🦍🥷👸🏻👀PO!
I'm sorry to hear it. I don't know what I'd do without my spouse and children -- all of us supporting each other -- but sometimes for me, it just isn't enough and Band-Maid fills in the gaps. :-)
Glad to see you back!.. I felt with the news you heard, for which I wish you and your family *all the best!* ... Endless Story seems to fit within that context 🙂 For it is the Struggle is to truly live. Best wishes!
Thank you. Yes, this song's message rings true. I think it also echoes a bit of Japanese Buddhism, in the sense of accepting struggles and imperfection.
This song wasn't really on my radar until I saw the fan cam of their 2022 US tour final show in Chicago where they ended with it. So much feeling in that performance. Then this one from Yokohama cemented it as a favorite and one that brings on the onions.
Every few minutes since I recorded this two days ago, I've caught myself humming the closing refrain... "Stay with me / You can't relive the moment / I'll never change / The life is beautiful" ... And now of course, I think it would be cool if all English-speaking people adjusted our pronunciation of "relive" to match Saiki's. :-)
If I heard someone else correctly, this was PRS's first signature guitar from the Asain market. This is truly a unique guitar, and Konami earned it. Also, just a curious thought. I remember that back in Japanese culture women would dyed their teeth black. I wonder if it was a tribute to the uniqueness of the black sandy beaches. Lastly, I have a granddaughter who is 6 years old. The doctors told us unfortunately she probably will not celebrate her 7th birthday with us. Truly sorry for you, as well as any family going thru difficult medical issues.
I'm so sorry to hear about your granddaughter. I have no words; just know I'm wishing strenuously that every moment you get to spend with her will be beautiful. As for the PRS, I heard just after recording this (in a Japanese man's vlog) that Kanami's signature edition was the first for any Japanese artist, so I'm very proud of her. :-)
It’s good to see you’re back. I’m sorry to hear about the health problems. I don’t know you but I care about you. Hope everything thing works out for the best. 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you. It's incredible how much TIME is required to deal with medical stuff. Driving from one place to the next, multiple visits, checking and comparing stacks of bills... Not to mention actually caring for and assisting the person who needs it. I suppose I've been fortunate not to have to deal with something like this until now. I hope/plan to continue with my chronological journey. :-)
It was obvious how tired they were at the end when they stepped down from their stands & slowly walked over to Akane for the finish. They were spent. But Akane had to keep working on the drums, to the very last beat.
Yes, at the end, it was much more clear how fatigue had set in. Early in the song, though, I just caught a bit of strain around the eyes on Kanami and MISA, and a bit of not-quite-full-power Miku. Saiki and Akane looked powered up until very near the end. :-)
This song gained importance at the end of one of their US tours. There were a lot of tears on stage that day probably from exhaustion and joy at a very successful tour- particularly from Akane of all people, who is usually the coolest of them all, but she completely lost it during the playing of this song. There is fan cam footage of this song.
Akane is very sentimental and is probably the easiest "crier" in Band-Maid. At the recent event where Kanami was presented with her PRS Signature guitar, she posted on Twitter about how Akane had been crying. This is what she wrote... " Also, after the talk ended and I returned to the dressing room, Ah-chan's nose was bright red. Apparently she cried earlier than anyone else and the most than anyone else 😂 Ahhh, it's so funny! It's the best!! ❤ " There's just something so heartwarming about how much the maids care about and are so supportive of each other.
I'm ready for the Onion Ninjas! Bring it! Kanami, our Mincho, was the 1st Japanese artist to ever receive a signature PRS guitar. the other MAIDS were in attendance rooting her on. It was very emotional. They had several Japanese bands at their 10th anniversary show sitting close, and seeing Saiki wave at them is precious. this closed out the show, and most teared up. Onion Ninja time!
Just after recording this, I watched the vlog about the PRS event in Japan, including the part about her being the first Japanese artist with a signature PRS. Very impressive and well deserved. :-)
I can never hear this now without thinking of Akane crying during this song at their last 2022 US Tour venue House of Blues in Chicago. I think Akane got emotionally wrapped up up in them ending their US tour, it was very tear jerking to watch her cry. ua-cam.com/video/WOM0-MahpAw/v-deo.htmlsi=WXHnBTuES-DHHXCu From October 2022 These girls have been on the run! I still insist they should end every LIVE show with "Endless Story".
Yes, that was incredible. They could have just as easily ended the song and walked out (like a few bands I've seen live), but it's clear they enjoy these shows as much as everyone in the audience. :-)
@@_JimS It seems she had a really emotional few days at the end of the tour. If you watch the behind the scenes from the US tour in 2022, Akane seems to have been the one who was nursing Kanami through her illness during the NJ show, and this was just 2 days later. And she was probably ready to go home. They traversed the US from Seattle to CA to Texas, up the East Coast and over to Chicago in less than 3 weeks.
Hope your family is okay. Sorry you had your end the endless reaction abruptly. I do hope you look for the Endless Story live in Chicago version. Ohrenje has a cleaned up version but there are a couple of other quality fancams as well. Hoping no one spoiled it but it is well worth your time to see it if not react to it. Thanks
Right at the end, I remembered one child was getting out of school, expecting a parent to show up (and the other parent was busy, hence the earlier text messages). Oops! I did go watch the 2022 U.S. version, at least the one that's zoomed in to Akane. Powerful indeed!
ahh, I was gonna ask if you had PAGE anywhere? I should've searched for the Conqueror album. I'll watch that one. Actually, Conqueror is my favorite album of theirs. But dangit, Epic Narratives is coming up pretty close now.
When I did the 'Conqueror' review, it was my very first reaction video, and I did only audio throughout (and also edited to cut out quite a bit of some songs so the video would be shorter). It's not my best work, LOL.
As you know, I prefer mid-tempo and slower songs - this has been in my top five since I first heard it. MISA's bass work in the second verse is high-level. In the live, Saiki unlocked superstar mode. Now I know the exact place and time I'd visit if I ever find a time machine (Yokohama Arena, Nov. 2023).
Yes, I didn't have time to mention it (I suddenly realized one of my kids was waiting to be picked up from school), but Saiki is on another level now -- compared to her previous live performances.
Chan, there's no need to react to "Endless Story" again, but the song was the ending of the Band-Maid 10th Anniversary Tour finale concert at the Yokohama Arena in November 2023. They did release an official live video of the song on their UA-cam channel. The song with the heartfelt singing by Saiki and her emotional thanks wo the audience and the improvised words at end of the song was not only an emotional moment for the Maids, but the audience as well. There were not many dry eyes anywhere. It was such a beautiful moment to watch.
I might be misunderstanding, but you're referring to the live video I reacted to? (And I added a screenshot during editing to show that it was the 33rd and final song of the Yokohama show...) Yes, very emotional.
Saiki is like a muscle car. She takes a bit to warm up, but once she does, she just gets stronger and stronger as the night goes on.
Great analogy, LOL. She certainly knows how to pace herself so she has plenty of gas left for the final song. :-)
This is a wonderful song when they play it live. An anthem that the audience can sing along to. Yes I had the moist eyes when I saw the Yokohama concert stream live and whenever I revisit the dvd. Yes! Right after I recorded this video, I saw the vlog by いちお盟主のつぶやき where he mentioned that Kanami was the first in Japan. I'm so happy for her. :-)
@Chan_Fry they were all there
Band-Maid is a gift for all of us.

In my mind, they already dominate the world; I can only hope others will be convinced. :-)
When times are hard, BAND-MAID always seems to help heal, love to you and your family !
Their music is an amazing balm for the soul, it's true.
I agree with you Kanami deserve this Signature guitar model more than anybody else!!! She is amazing guitar player!!! She is the best!!!
Struggling with a hospitalized family member myself. Band-Maid is actually a big part of what's giving me the strength to deal with it.
I'm sorry to hear it. I don't know what I'd do without my spouse and children -- all of us supporting each other -- but sometimes for me, it just isn't enough and Band-Maid fills in the gaps. :-)
