You're very welcome! Glad you liked the video!....Wishing you the best for your first Marathon, Patrick! Us 60+ dudes can still bring it as you saw in the video! What race are you doing? I'd love to track your progress.
Wow, Bill, you're right! That IS a beautiful hotel. I love the old-time buildings better than the sleek new modern ones, including here in New York City. I have previously been to the Chicago Marathon Expo and you're right, it is a huge long walk into and around the Expo. Makes you feel like you need hiking boots and a canteen.
Congrats on conquering Chicago and earning your third Abbott World Marathon Majors star! Thanks for sharing the video and the shout-out, Will! When I get better, we’re gonna run together-who knows, maybe Berlin next? Lol. Your words are such an inspiration to me, and I value our friendship so much. Sending you good luck on your training for the London Marathon on April 27, 2025! - RamonQ
@EstebanAbada Thanks, Ramon! You're very welcome, my friend!...It would be awesome to run Berlin with you! No matter what, we're definitely going to run together when you're ready. Thanks for your support!
Bill, I just finished watching this video, after starting it earlier this evening. I really enjoyed watching this. I am proud of you and your friends for doing so well. 👍
Thanks so much, Cathy! Glad you liked it!.....I want to make sure my videos are not just about me. Friends, subscribers, and anyone I cross paths with, are just as important....As you, I'm proud of my friends for sure
@@oldmanvanrunning Yes, Bill, you should be proud of your friends - they seem to be nice people and are VERY good runners!! It is nice to share the attention with others. The best corporate bosses I have had in my life acknowledge the entire team in public All Hands Meetings, NOT just bask in their own accomplishments as the project manager. My best friend now was my boss's boss in 2007 to 2006 and again, on a different project, from 2016 to 2020, and he always deflected praise and attention to his team. Good for you for being willing to share the spotlight.
Congratulations on a fantastic achievement! Very impressive, especially with your health issues during your training block. Good luck at London next April; I'll be headed to Boston!
Awesome video and congratulations on your time. I know first hand what it means missing a major part of your preparation before your race. Let me know when Berlin as a next 6 star event is on your calendar. Time to crack that 3:30 mark in Berlin, after all it is a proven WR course.. Stay healthy and good luck.
Thanks, Peter!...I'm in the Berlin Lottery for '25, and will likely go the Tour or Charity route if that doesn't work. My focus now is to really focus on strength training in my plan to stay healthy, and also I'll be incorporating more short - medium distance racing to carry more speed into London. Berlin would definitely be the course to get that sub-3:30. I'll keep you posted.
There is a bike path immediately behind the convention center which is right up against Lake Michigan, so check it out for running or walking the next time you go to Chicago. I am sentimental about Chicago, because my late Father settled in Chicago as a young man when he immigrated into the US from The Netherlands, and then met my Mom from the "exotic" locale of Kansas City, Missouri when she was working in the Chicago area. 😀
I am a bit disappointed that you did not show a close-up of the historic Buckingham Fountain in Grant Park, built in 1926, and one of the largest fountains in the world. Too bad you missed a close-up of it, as many of your viewers might not even notice that beautiful historical landmark in the far background in your video.
Me too....I realized when I was editing clips that I forgot to film that fountain. I do have some photos, but Paulo, Ashley, and I were having a relaxing walk through the park that it unfortunately slipped my mind. It was AMAZING, though. Too bad it wasn't operating fully in the clip after the race at bag pickup.
@@oldmanvanrunning Bill, I have mentioned Buckingham Fountain to you several times in recent months, so I was hoping you would realize that it is a beautiful, major historical landmark. I am so sad you overlooked it. Many of your viewers might have enjoyed a look at this beautiful 1926 water fountain. I had tried to encourage you to go look at it on your Shakeout run before the race, when you would have had more time to photograph it and wait for it to be at its full height cycle.
@@oldmanvanrunning It was probably turned down to a low cycle due to not wanting to have mist blowing onto all the runners. That's why I was trying to get you to go on your Shakeout run day, when you would have had time to wait for it to cycle through all its phases, from low to high.
@@oldmanvanrunning Go back to Chicago and see it at night, with the colored floodlights and the skyline of Chicago in the background. You know I was really interested in it, I mentioned it to you several times, so I am disappointed you didn't include it in your video. It is historical and beautiful.
Running my 1st marathon in December, at 63. Love this video, you did a great job of capturing the REAL race, the actual vibe. Thank you for this.
