Chicago was my first marathon back in 2018. You will fly! I’m in training for the NYC marathon. Thanks for your awesome channel!

Bill, as Lanir said below, "solid plan." Well done! I wish you all the best for your Chicago Marathon. where you will qualify for Boston again, set a PR, and redeem yourself for a slower-than-hoped-for Boston Marathon time [in the heat, where you couldn't help it]. Good luck!

Bill, the aqua jogging worked out so well for you - I think it literally "saved" your Boston Marathon when you had the ITB injury - so it is VERY wise for you to bake it into your Chicago training plan. It is also wise that you are reminding yourself that you can switch your entire training program to the pool if you get ANY little twinge or hint of an impending injury. Being so proactive will lead to great success. I ran Chicago a very long time ago - don't forget that one hill right at the 26-mile mark - a horrible place to have a hill in an otherwise flat marathon - so throw in a hill or two on tired legs at the end of your long run sometimes. [There are a few tiny tiny tiny uphills elsewhere in the course, but they are baby uphills - no problem. Just train for the one hill at 26 miles.]

Definitely taking smart precautions this training block! Will get some hill running in for sure.

@@oldmanvanrunning Well it's really only that one hill in the Chicago Marathon course, right at 26 miles - the other small upgrades are so minor that they don't need special training - just train for one big upgrade at the very end. You will handle it just fine.

Solid plan! Nice shirt, have the same one and it's one of my favorites. Maybe see you again in New Haven.
