@@haniyahassan172 yup! I actually got told my jumps were very good for me doing cheer for the first time just stretch everyday and practice as much as you can that’s how I got my jumps rly high
just another tip for people if you want correct technique, is that when you jump, make sure your elbows are together, before you put your arms up, and make sure that when you bring your arms down, they are still together until they get to just below your chin. also if you can help it, try to keep your chest up, as your jumps will look so much cleanerrrr. i hope that was explained ok because i dont explain things very well, but i hope that in quarantine your all practicingggg!! :) xx

A safety tip from me is NEVER EVERRRRR practice jumps without shoes!!! I sprained my ankle the week of tryouts from not being careful while practicing my jumps😓
my hs cheer tryouts are in May but I'm trying to practice now so I have better chances! I'm doing these drills along with a 10 minute stretch routine and 10 minute workout routine. I'm writing this comment to hopefully stay motivated (lmao
just focus on spirit!! If your jumps aren’t perfect or high it’s okay just make sure to keep your legs straight and point your toes !! I made varsity w only one yr experience lol

This was very helpful! I made the cheer team without having to tryout because there were some communication issues at my school and they need more people so yeah i'm on the team now XD. I start at the end of July (that's when camp is) and then I cheer at our first day of school pep rally! This video is great!
i’m only just starting cheer (never done it before ever) but i’ve done synchronized swimming for about three years or so and you really don’t need to be super flexible to do any of these jumps. we would do these as warm ups for flyers and bases on lifts and i was able to do these before i got my splits. just stretch yourself out a bit and warm up and you should be fine
Thanks for the video! My 8 year old daughter is a competitive cheerleader and I have been trying to find some things I can teach her or help her improve on from home. I would LOVE to see some of your stretching routines/workout routines, more legs/jump height techniques, stretches, etc. And tips to help her with the front walk over she’s struggling when it comes time to stand up from the walkover... U do not have to have your middle splits but I recommend some flexibility to do any of the jumps so your legs with be higher (especially for hurdlers) I started stretching more for all of my splits and now my jumps are higher than they were before. Good luck!!

Update: I made jv! Im gonna be a freshman and freshman can only be on jv, but I made it first try with no cheer experience, and little tumbling experience! My advice would be to just smile and try to be loud!

Hey girl! First off please don’t compare yourself to me or anyone!! I am so positive that your jumps are fantastic! I have been cheering for a long time so if you notice that your dumps aren’t as high as mine right off the bat don’t sweat it! Also if you have the correct technique and are sharp in your jumps that is WAY more important than how high your legs are. However, as I said in the video getting your legs higher is about leg strength and speed (not about flexibility) so if you work on getting your legs stronger and kicks faster that is what will help your jumps the most. try to mark every move in your head, when i dance focusing on each move helps me keep them clean. ex. like saying, down up round over kick. just marking the movements. i hope that makes sense 😭

If you plan on just normal sideline cheer, than I doubt you'd have tumbling. Thats all star cheer :)
