Thank you for these mixing videos! The awaken curiosity in us. 🙂 Don't know if it's my monitor or what, but yours looked like an exact match. I think you found two of the reasons why some of my attempted dupes for Schmincke weren't terribly successful! They don't list the pigments in order and knowing which version of pigments like PR101 or PBr7 which have SOOOO many different looks. And then there are the colors that had 3 pigments. Oy, the frustration! 🤣 I'd bought the 40 half pan set of super granulating paints and had a heck of a time matching several of them, even though I bought (in a few cases) their paint, such as PBr33 etc. I finally gave up and sold the set. I still have all of the swatches, so if I feel like revisiting that project, I can.
Yes! I have seen other artists say you just need to know which pigments they use but it is so much more than that, you need to know which version of those pigments, was it a PR101 that leans more on the orange side or one that leans more violet... So many pigments have a variety of different hues. I always start by looking at swatches of Schmincke's version of the single pigment and compare what I have to that before tyring to dive into the super granulating mix. I also do not think that they are all listed in the proper order but I am thankful they are listed. I too have the 40 pan set plus have added pans of the haze and urban sets to complete them. I don't find myself reaching for them enough, but the thought of selling them never crossed my mind lol that's the collector in me.
@@ClarkFineArt Well, if you ever need the extra cash, the option is there. I think I ended up selling it for 8.00 less than I bought it for, and still have the swatches for comparison. I do a lot of abstract art, that's usually where I go nuts with these types of paints. Thank you for what you do! Great mixing Monday! 🌻
I think that that is a stunning color and I love your mix although it was a little more on the blue side. However you have shown me why I need Potters pink. I am a photo realistic animal portraiture artists and I can never seem to find exactly the right color for the inside of ears and noses on dogs cats and horses. My preferred medium is colored pencil however I can't find a pencil in this color and so I may begin using Potter's pink as an underpainting color so that I can achieve the right color. I just need to save up the money so I can get it. Thank you so very much for another wonderful and informative video.
That is a re-purposed item and I can’t find the one I have (which is plastic) however this is a set I have been looking at that are actually porcelain, which I prefer amzn.to/447SMzE and there is a different shape set amzn.to/4d4OQnr You can even get them with two wells and the holder in the middle amzn.to/3QdBXhb I have a feeling a set of these will find their way to my studio soon. I hope that helps! I love those little dishes!
I prefer porcelain too! I'm a wimp, I hate mixing on plastic or metal, I'm not good enough for that yet!! 😅 I bought those first ones! Darling! Thank you so much ❤️ 😊 Can't wait to see what else you mix! Blessings!
I will look at the color for a future mix and see if I can't help you. It is made with Ultramarine Blue PB29 and Mars Brown which is PBr6 but you might be able to get it with a PBr7 if it is close in hue to Schmincke's PBr6
