Repair tape can be purchased at Gaylord Brothers, Demco, Brodart, and other library supply vendors. All offer online ordering and accept orders from individuals.
Works out to be about $4/volume for a reback (materials and student labor). Sending titles to our binder is about $12/avg including labor on our end to process...
I like the excellent work done in this video, but it would be improved by voice over narration explaining the tools and procedures as the bookbinder goes along. Great jewelry!
If the boards are very loose and the joint broken through inside and outside, you will want to do what we call a "Full" repair. Click above for all our videos and look for it. A textual description is in the works. Remember these are the functional repairs we make on our circulating collections materials. Replacing the endpapers can work if but will only be as strong as paper. Also grain of paper must run parallel to spine to avoid wrinkles on board side after gluing down.'
Yeah! This is an interesting process to watch, but children, do not attempt this at home. The tabs folded in to the inside of the covers degrade the appearance of the book. Isn’t there a better way? Could the tab be folded into the spine gap at an earlier point of the process? The background noise is hardly needed to drown out the explanatory narrative along the way.
New end papers can cover the tabs that are folded to the inside. I always cut and fold the spine tabs in before applying to the book. Also, I have super sticky tape and would not dare apply then try to remove and re-tighten the tape as she does.
The United States and Cuba - 1880 - 1934! What a great read!!

No narration so what materials is she using?
She keeps puttingn her hands in front of what she's doing. Difficult to see what shes measuring, cutting etc

Poor camera work and hands in the way all the time. Left no time at the end to reattach the spine cover.
