- This is a video of a Saturn V scale model rocket launch in Price, MD. The rocket was built by Steve Eves. All questions can be answered here: www.popularmechanics.com/scien...
The music is "Also sprach Zarathustra", composed by Richard Strauss, performed by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, and conducted by André Previn. - Наука та технологія
I started as a model rocketeer back in 1967. This brought tears to my eyes. The perfect flight of the ultimate model rocket. It does not get better than this.
If you are wondering what the parachutes are for, some are for equipment but there's 2 for the co-pilot and pilot, who are trained squirrels.
I lived in a little town called Arab, AL and was in high school during the design and testing phase of the Saturn V rocket that was built and tested in Huntsville, AL. at Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC). On many occasions when the rocket engines were tested the windows in our house in Arab would rattle and there was a very low frequency rumble that could be heard. It was the testing of these engines about 35 miles away. In January or 1970, I was very fortunate to go to work for NASA in Huntsville. I left there in 1976 for White Sands Missile Range. Never got to see the Saturn V launch but I realize now just how fortunate I was to work there during those years. That is an awesome rocket you guys built - keep up the good work. God Bless America.

The synchronization of the music and the video is BEAUTIFUL!
Still better than North Korea's nuclear weapons.
Taken down by his own tank...
+Cryptid the interview reference
Amen
Still better than Brazilian Space Program.
This legitimately would look like a missile from far away.
the saturn v was basically the german v2 rocket so sure it would especially scaled back.
Is a missile, not moving at scale for a Saturn 5 nor any stages.
@@chadglidden4765 not even close to the v2 besides the fact they are both rockets
@@chadglidden4765 could not be farther from a V2 in pretty much every single capacity besides the fact it goes up
Rockets are, in some ways, a controlled missile with nobler causes.
I've been building and flying model rockets my entire life. I'm 62 now and I still love it. That was spectacular, loved it!
Looks like the first flight everyone has in Kerbal Space Program, but with parachutes. Scott Manley would be proud.
Absolutely amazing....I could watch that a thousand times and still be amazed that it was "only" a model. Congratulations to the builder!!!
At first I was a little underwhelmed about it's height when it launched...but the landing upright actually got some applause out of me XD
Why did it rise so fast? DIdn’t the real Saturn V rise slowly?
A question of weight, density so thrust to weight ratio, the real Saturn was very heavy and even with all this power, majority of the power was used to fight gravity. The smaller rockets tend to take off very fast due to their light weight and engines still being quite powerful compared to the weight. But here, the idea was to make a minirocket spend its fuel very fast, so it didn't go high and it was not the purpose of this event. Look at what the Japaese Space Agncy launched a few days after Space X's Falcon Heavy, the smallest orbital rocket ever launched, ten meters high, just like this one, takes off very fast as well.
@@nineeleven9455 These are model, midpower or high power rockets, there is no guidance system. No servos, no gryos , you need enough velocity for the fins to provide guidance, after it leaves the launch rod or rail.
@@josephpiazza97 At first, I thought it had some gyroscope, given the so straight of its trayectory...
The most awesome thing i ever seen on a launch pad.
Thats the true essence of scale model rocketry.
Congratulations.
Wow! That is IMPRESSIVE! Loved this very much. Thank you for the build and the video.
Should have made the Saturn 5's other stages have fuel! It could have gone farther!

Although I agree, it's still 5 😂
Murika not only doesn't use metric, they still use Roman numerals. C'mon guys, take the great leap into C.E.
It's A. D. as in Anno Domini, the year of our Lord :P
We only count the years as they are because of Christ, let's stop trying to forget that. @@77gravity
"Thus Spake Zarathustra" is the only piece of music cool enough for this!
One small step for mankind, one giant leap for Steve Eves.
Just truly awesome man. Thanks for sharing!
A truly spectacular, inspiring and heart warming video. It leaves you admiring the journey that must have happened but also hoping for more. Thank you to the rocketeers and for capturing a moment of brilliant triumph.
But can you steal 11 inmates's clothes off their backs in one day?
I could. Maybe. I don't really know. I've never been to prison.
yes however the police men were really hard since they take back their clothes
And keys
Shank Stuart!
And now I'm stealing toilet paper rolls. Terra.
better missile program than North Korea
That was truly awe-inspiring ! Huge congratulations, and looking forward to many more videos of this amazing rocketship !
I am completely blown away by this, that was just..... awesome!
better than what north korea can do 😂
How do you know?
@@douglasskaalrud6865 r/woooosh
Yep, that was good.
You guys are crazy - in a spectacular, inspirational and joyous way. Bravo!
Excellent job synchronizing the music to the video. Well done!
I was sent by a man who stole all the inmates clothing in one day
The moon is 238,000 miles away. If this is 1/10 then you should have gone 23,800 miles or so. What happened?? Great work anyway!
Space has a lot less resistance than the atmosphere. Also that would be really expensive.
C'mon
I would be truly impressed if this had been liquid fuelled. You are go for orbit, haha...
Excellent editing and mixing!
Thumbs up for both the idea and for the music.
Must be nice to afford such toys.
480p is nothing to be proud of
It was, ten years ago...
It's a old video stop and cameras were probably expensive for 720p
Neither is your mum.
This is simply one of the best videos on all of UA-cam. Super!!!!!!
Fantastic, I could watch this all day. Keep up the good work..
I'm mildly disappointed to see no staging.
TheLittlestMig I felt the same
where are the inmates in underwear? i came for underwear!
That's pretty impressive.
Thanks for the upload.
Wow! That was absolutely incredible.
nerd cubed cubed cubed nerd cubed cubed cubed NERDCUBED
too bad he can't do anything REMOTELY as efficient with kerbals' lives on the line

O
What are all these comments about prisoner's clothes referencing?
Lol idk
I used to make/launch model rockets in '67-'68...Estes stuff. Even now, seeing this gives me the chills. Back then, I think this would have been as impressive as seeing the real Saturn 5 take off. WHAT A ROCKET! Magnificent! Whoever you are, Steve Eves, you have my admiration!
Just spectacular! Good job Steve!
Put it on your resume
Now 88 people are jealous they can't do this.
It's just fantastic! Unbelieveble! I wanted to be part of this team. Congratulations. You have accomplished the dream of my life.
That was frigg'n steller,, & can't believe how quick it got off the pad !!
Ha, there kids landed a rocket years before Elon Musk or Richard B
Dang... Got a whole bunch of rocket scientists commenting on this video.
The videos get 'em here. But the REAL entertainment... Is in the comments.
Refugees from first grade science class. ROTFLMAO!
IMPRESSIVE! Congratulations to those responsible for that amazing project!
that was the greatest, most awe inspiring thing ive ever seen. bravo, sir.
I came here from someone who tried to make everyone in a prison nude.
Wow! And the music timed perfectly!
I will forever love this video!
Nice coordination with Also Spracht Zarathustra! Well done.
A beautiful representation of Man's pursuit of what lies beyond.
Even though this is two years old, I have to applaud the effort that went into this. Actually brought a tear and a laugh at the same time. Wonderful!
Hi person from 10 years ago
This gives me goose bumps!!! Frackin' awesome!!
Nice and I love the sound that makes too.
The very best video of 'amateur / non-NASA' Rocket Science video I have ever seen on You Tube. America really is the 'land of the free' (and from an English man). Awesome!!!
The launch was awesome but the visually perfect opening of all the chutes was the icing on the cake.
That was freaking awesome! Nice job guys.
I just got back from the Cosomosphere in Kansas and took a class on space exploration. This was one of the videos they showed us. I have to say, that was pretty cool.
awesome choice of music
that was amazing..thanks for uploading
AWESOME! TOTALLY AWESOME!
Major props to y'all!
Brilliant, mate! That's just amazing.
Really cool. Didn't know models
Could be made that large.
Enjoyed the video!
That was some experience, a real work of art. That must have cost a fortune to build etc but when it works like that it must make it all worthwhile.
Well done team it was awesome!!!
I'm speechless. That was amazing.
This is awesome. I can't imagine how much preparation must have gone into this...
you've nailed it man!
Fantastic launch. It looked so real esp when the rocket was shooting skywards. Fantastic....
great job i love it,,,,,,,,,cant wait to see more of your work
Brilliant. Well done guys.
as an amateur rocket scientist, i really love the idea of scaling down a real rocket to more than just a couple feet long. This will definately inspire me further to keep creating rockets the way ive been doing. My last launch took place on April 23rd, it was a succes and with accurate calculations, i was able to mark exactly where it would land. And it touched nozzle end down right on that mark. :)
this thing is massive and its only a 1:10 scale model, it shows how big Saturn V rockers actually were.
That was amazing, kudos!
One Word "Epic"
Thank you for your time and goodnight.
This was the most beatiful thing I've seen in a long time.
wow!!!! i love the chutes delay, made look like it was in space for a few seconds!
Amazing! Well done, a brilliant job done!
That is AMAZING!!! I had an Estes, Saturn 5 as a kid, it was my favorite ever... But, you win.
That is bloody marvelous!
Amazing achievement.
Well done to all involved.
Absolutely Spectacular!
its beautiful, good job and good video
That was outstanding!
Fulfilling the dream of every kid that ever built an ESTES rocket. OUTSTANDING. Rocket on dudes.
WOW! Fantastic job.
AMAZING JOB!!
That's just about the most impressive thing I've ever seen! WOW!!
Brings chills watching this!!
Well done. Considering how hard it was for NASA and the rest of the world to get it right, it's amazing you got it that far successfully.
Who ever did this is an absolute legend!
A-BLOODY-MAZING! What a feat! What a great etstmanet to human ingenuity and teamwork - well done to all involved.
WISH I WAS THERE!!!!!!!
Just beautiful. PERFECT launch
Now THAT is a model rocket! Frackin' awesome! :O
Superb launch and landing.
I think you just left the "scale model" zone as soon as you have to climb a ladder to reach the top of your "model" lmaoo
Man! That was a thing of beauty!!!
This is such a great hobby. I wish that the excitement in rocket launching today was more than just a hobby...
this is ridiculously awesome!!
