I was able to get my hands on one of these in completely new condition for $200. The box is absolutely decimated, but everything inside seems to be in perfect condition. I’m so excited to be able to shave more frequently with less irritation. I’m black, and my facial skin is SUPER prone to irritation and ingrowns. From what I’ve seen, this may be my solution.
I think skin sensitivity is not colour related... For me, none of the rotary ones regardless of the brand worked. The old irritated my skin. Braun worked well. Series 9 is most gentle of them all. All the best and happy shaving.

My Series 9 does not shave better then the Series 7 that I used many years. I wanted to send it back but Amazon would not take it back. I agree with you the manual is not very useful.
Thanks for your honest review. I had shaving irritation with safety razor all through my 20s. Tried Remington F6 Style Aqua electric still gives razor burn on neckline and misses hairs. Switched to double edge razor, by far the best experience I've had so far, very minimal razor burn or irritation, however I've noticed I've got a few scars on my chin which was probably from double edge. Also, it now takes me up to 20-30 minutes with a double edge as I have to go so slow with it. I'm seriously considering this, but it's a lot of money to pay if it potentially might give me razor burn still. Ideally I'd like to be able to shave every day or other day. Usually I shave every third day due to my sensitive skin, but I like a smooth face 😂
Shaving is such an individual thing... My brother can't stand shavers. He's 63 now and razor, different types totally do a good job for him. Me on the other hand... Getting an extreme irritation every time I use razor. That is regardless of the creams, foams, gels and various aftershaves. Rotary shavers irritate my skin less, but still not ideal for me. That is before I discovered Braun foil series shaver. My life literally changed. Series 7 was genuinely good enough, but something was "missing". After using it almost for 15 years I decided to treat myself with the top of the range Series 9. I would not claim that it is "significantly" better, but... I still get no irritation, because of the bigger bulkier head design shave 2 x time faster. I like it a lot. However, I always acknowledge that shaving is not "one size fits all". Honest opinion is the only thing I can offer here. Thank you for watching!
Thanks Greg, I've started using my foil electric shaver again so my skin gets used to it. It works well only cheeks and okay on upper lip so I'll just have to deal with some hairs in other places and save for this razor. I think with convenience and easier shave it will make the experience better. Nobody wants to be spending 30 minutes shaving do they haha. Thanks again for your honest opinion and happy shaving 👍
I did discover another reason why I like it so much. I was able to shave my head while the misses was taking to long to shower this morning. I was able to shave without worrying about irritation due to not using shave gels and creams. It shaves fast. @@GregYurchenko
My beard grows fast and i have very sensitive skin. I suffer from razor bumps while using Gillette Mach 3, King Gillette safety razor didn't help me, Andis profoil lithium was terrible on my neck and Philips one blade is not good for short hair. If this razor can't help then i really don't know what to do because i really don't like ny beard

Do you dry shave or do you use cream ? It's crazy you said it only took you a minute to shave. For me it takes at least 5. And I can't get a perfectly smooth shave as I did with my DE razor which I had to stop using because it was causing me too much irritation. I'm happy with the Braun 9 pro but there are spots where I literally can't get a perfect shave, especially on my lower cheeks - upper jaws. Overall a very good product. How long do you think it is before I need to replace the head ?

@@GregYurchenko hey Greg thanks for your comment. I don't know the exact model but it's a Braun series 9 pro, it's identical to the one you have. I tried dry shaving yesterday but it just didn't work. I'll continue using shaving cream. Not too happy with this razor but it's ok I guess.

It is important as when you will need to buy a replacement foil all of them within 9 Pro range are different. Hope it helps.
does series 9 grab your skin? I had series 8 and it kept grabbing my skin. Is there any settings for 1 or 3 or 5 day beard? Does it work better and more smooth when skin is moist or dry?
Not mine, but a couple of people reached out to report things were not so smooth. Mind you, there a couple iterations of series 9. Earlier versions were not as good. We're at #4 now. I like it when skin is dry as it goes superbly. Sorry, don't do beard, but may check if function exists.

@GregYurchenko Great review, I am stuck between a rock and a hard place with the Braun series 9 Pro and Panasonic Arc 5 or 6. I owned a series 7 Braun and didn't like it ans is why I am leaning more towards the Panasonic as Japanese tech is my preference because I have Pano products that last the test of time. On the other hand Braun foils, cleaning fluid cartridge & other parts are more easily sourced. I do like the Braun charging case for travel and the extra charge magnetic stand that is available. How's the Braun working for you regarding irritation? I had some issues with irritation under the neck area and I hear nothing but good reports on the Panasonic in this area. Any thoughts on your Braun experience in this area ?

The truths are is that I'm not affiliated with Braun in any case, shape or form, but I'm biased towards it as no other shaver weekend as well for me as brain does. While series 7 was great for me I didn't like it 100 either. Series 9 Pro is clear improvement over series 7 almost in every regard. I just don't think it's $200 ish improvement. From the irritation perspective series 7 was the only shaver that didn't irritate me ( much). In that regard series 9 seem even better. All described are only personal opinion and may not experienced by you. Tough choice indeed. I do like mine though and feel no regrets in buying one.

Food for thought I mist likely will go the Panasonic as A) I found a deal for just $269 which includes a cleaning station where as the Braun series 9 Pro floats around the $650 mark (with travel case charger ONLY) I do like the build quality but I think the Panasonic Arc 5 with included cleaning station is a steal and too good a price to pass by. Totally get it. UA-cam is such vast space with all different content. Many try to be trendy and show what others would like to hear. Others getting sponsored and beating "how good is that" drum. There a ton of genuine reviews that compares between similar products e.g. series 7 and "better" series 9. However, the average consumer will have something old and wants someone to share their experience and impression about moving from that to something latest and subjectively greatest. My channel provides exactly that - I buy stuff with my own money and document true impressions. Not everyone's cup of tea, but thank you for watching and taking time to reflect.
The old series 7 is the one most people are upgrading from because it was sold with great popularity for over a decade, people love it and still use it. Myself included...

There is switch at the front for precision shaving. If it's on for the general shaving results are exactly as you describe. Could be the case?

I have come to learn there is no such thing as a perfect electric razor. The Series 9 pro does more right than wrong.
Bingo!!! I had a same feeling, but probably didn't know how to express. While it is great at what it does for some reason it's not perfect...
