Just perfect casting. Jim Carter's Carson has great authority and dignity. He is very efficient as butler and you appreciate how much responsibility he has to keep the house running efficiently with the housekeeper and cook. Hugh Bonneville's Earl of Grantham shows how much responsibility he has to keep the estate running efficiently, with the help of his estate manager. This is a very enlightening interview. Hugh sounds less grand but Jim still has that rich voice of authority. That rich bass baritone voice is superb.
Jim Carter can act even in his expressions (and the fluidity and flexibility of them). I love both he and Hugh, and am excited that Mr. Bonneville will be in The Monuments Men !
Yet another example of another unknown actor..and his brilliance! His mannerisms are remarkable. His voice his body movement his facial expressions his tone everything about him is most impressive. His craft is almost perfected. And imagine his talent is barely recognized! What a same.
Jim Carter. That wonderful wonderful men. My first encounter (me in front of the telly of course) was the Singing Detective, with Michael Gambon. He played the dad of the singing det. as a schoolboy. That voice! Booming! "Philip, me boy, were tis?" Since then... in awe of the voice and the man! Stern looks, impressive precence... it's all in Jim's box of acting tools.
Thank you for sharing - I'm a big Carter fan and love the series. As to the abrupt edits, I realize that the source material must have butchered this for brevity. Still, I could sit and listen to these guys read the London phone book.
Oh, no problem but I'm American too! I just spend too much time on the internet and I stumble on these things because I'm just absolutely obsessed with this show. These interviews weren't on UA-cam so I figured I'd put them on here so more people would see them. :)
6 months after the xmas final, I'm going through YT watching all the behind the scenes interviews. This is by far the most in-depth I've seen. But bloomin heck, has this been edited to death or what! The cutting is terrible. Where can I find the full version of this? Would love to hear what Jim and Hugh have to say about DA.
Jim Carter is so convincing I wanted him to hug me as he did Mary! I love Hugh in The Monuments Men - what an amazing scene just before he got shot as we hear his last words to his Father. Thanks to all on Downton. Did I hear Mr Bonneville in an interview state he hates dogs? ?? 🧐
Even though my wife has applauded it for years.I have never watched Downton I think I will need to binge. I have two weeks booked for a Spanish Holiday.............. Would you recommend it for watching by the pool?
Im a free loving american. but I very much see the appeal of a system where, regardless of your place in it, has strict rules and allows honorable service and responsibility from all.
Helen Wood off big brother , most hated contestant ever slept with Wayne Rooney and Hugh Bonneville according to reports when she was escorting- what was they thinking - soon as she opens her mouth its cringe factor - and daughter of a lecturer - the mind boggles..................think a turd in the snow has more class..........................
His voice! So charming so powerful so deep and expressive!
And his nose!
my two favorite people on Downton Abbey! Great actors!

Wonderful to hear these actors speaking about their roles. But they're being cut off mid-sentence. But still good to watch, thank you.

Thank you for share and your right, these gems are hard to find.
It is so fun to see Hugh Bonneville in that Hugh Grant-Julia Roberts film. Such a different character!
jim carter has an amazing voice.
Carson’s comment of the house as on and off stage is so interesting.
good show in itself
Je l'adore ! Merci.
Thanks for sharing this with us in America jlstjh. I enjoy the background information greatly.
If I had the extended interview with them two like these, I would! But I've only seen the segments on the DVDs.
So sweet Mr Carson mentioning Lady Mary out of all to being a star... :-)
Jim carter played the french mafia in JCVD Legionnaire 1998
I love the 'subtle' cut in the answers. Why would you want to hear what they have to say, right?

Hugh Bonneville is so adorable, I just want to pinch His chubby cheeks.

Would you recommend it for watching by the pool?
I’d recommend it for anytime
Hugh is so different on downtown than the part he played in Notting Hill with Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant. Check it out!
Holy shit, I never made the connection!
Jim Carter will always be Dejavu to me......
Can you upload the Phyllis Logan and Brendan coyle interview? :3 thank you :D xx
Guardianship not ownership is quite interesting.
I agree! I got this directly from the BBC's website so it's down to them. ;)
Awesome
carter could be a great bartender anywhere in the Great USA or Canada
This seems longer than the interview on the DVD features.
Psy Psychos: U got that right. mmm mmmm. Goooooood Looooooking!
Im a free loving american. but I very much see the appeal of a system where, regardless of your place in it, has strict rules and allows honorable service and responsibility from all.
so eloquent.
Totally agree....I love that this has been uploaded, but what about this friggin editing???
This would be a great interview if they hadn't butchered the editing (copyright, maybe?)
im here bcs i wanna hear Cogman voice from TF5 😂
ok. totally understand then!
Why did you cut them off? Really annoying.
I wouldn't go that far.
Isn't He though? While I'm watching this ahh-ing over Him.
Interesting insights but somewhat jerky editing.
It makes a nice change to hear the English language being spoken with English accents instead of that awful American draaaaawwwl.

Annoying clip. Each segment gets abruptly cut off. Better editing, please.
"Socialism rules" :)
