What a fantastic interview! I feel like this interviewer is a true fan and was asking intelligent questions with purpose and a keen interest. Things, that I as a fan of writing and acting, would also want to know.
Very nice interview. I really like this interviewer, she asked on point questions to her guests and then encouraged them to answer at their own pace. The last question and answer was fantastic. Well done!
This interview was an absolute joy to watch from start to finish. As someone who watches a LOT of interviews like this I can say it’s very rare that they are this entertaining, such thoughtful questions are asked, and there wasn’t a single awkward moment. Love it!
What a relevant last question & thoughtful answer! Fun interview to reminisce about the series...totally wish I could watch it again as if I’d never seen a single episode. Love Downton❤️
I was just thinking the same thing about watching it as if for the first time. But I am enjoying picking up on Julian's foreshadowing and the acting nuances of the terrific ensemble as I watch the show again.
They appreciate the excellent writing, as do we all! I love the subtlety that was often used. As an example, when a character was set to admit something to someone (or break news to someone), the scene often ended just before they said the admission. The audience never heard the actual words that they used to explain themselves.
Just came back from seeing DA. Enjoyed it! Excellent writing from j. Fellowes, excellent acting all the cars and all that goes with them and it. Lovely. Spent a marvellous afternoon.
Its a little terrifying how you can predict exactly what the conversation is going to, each mannerism. And I just wish there could be a comfort level among us all to easily have this conversation about something we all enjoy, its painful because you can tell Hugh Bonneville is nervous, and Elizabeth Mcgovern is trying to help this awkwardness that always comes through in these. Maybe we all just need some high caffeine coffee so we can have so many thoughts to talk about with energetic annoyance that each person is waiting to cut the other off...but holding themselves back. almost, rather than the afraid to show emotion which is how this started off. I don't blame them, I blame myself as well, I would do the exact same thing.
Queen Elizabeth's Grandmother, Queen Mary, spoke with a heavy German Accent. The British Royal Family, has deep German roots. It only became known as the House of Windsor, either during the 1st or 2nd World War.
I doubt that is true. She was born at Kensington Palace and lived there until she was 16. Her family then traveled abroad for two years before they returned to London. Yes, her father lived in Germany until 1866, (a year before her birth) but her mother was English and they received all their money due to her side of the family. The British Royal Family did change their surname from Saxe-Coburg-Gotha to Windsor after WWI.
@@kriscroy959 actually, I've read that Queen Mary did have a bit of a German accent as her father was German and most likely had several German servants in the palaces.
I heard that Fellowes wrote in the death of Matthew because the actor wanted off the series. To hear that Sybil was "killed" for the same reason was a bit of a surprise.

Her world is turned upside down, Flo realises she’s not the person she’s always thought she was and to make matters worse she finds out her life is endangered. I hardly noticed. I thought the questions she asked were so refreshing and interesting. She got them talking deeper into the storylines and character arcs and I got the feeling the actors were engaged.
@@robertskinner1799 I feel exactly the same way. I don't understand why, for example, in the airline industry, American flight attendants are not instructed on how to speak to the passengers. They, too, will say things like, "What can I get you guys to drink?" This is especially irritating when one of the "guys" is a woman. Whatever happened to "Ma'am" and "Miss"?
I saw the movie yesterday. I felt it was more of a two hour special, than a movie. It was missing the format that you expect from a movie. The actress who played Queen Mary, should have been someone who could do a German accent, to be realistic. Brenden Coyle had but a few lines of maybe four words each. Which was a shame, seeing that he was an important person to the series. I was a huge fan of the series, have the complete DVD set. But was disappointed in the movie. Sorry.
Downton functions perfectly as a TV series, not so much as a movie. It would've been better if they'd made another season-it's difficult to cram so much in only 2 hours.
Why, when Queen Mary grew up in London her whole life? She and her family lived abroad for two years in her later teen years before returning to London.
All those "likes" sound utterly dreadful, very infantile and illiterate. It might be forgivable for a child, but not for an adult, especially for a journalist. Sorry for the harsh straightforwardness.
I don’t know this interviewer, but I’m not thrilled that she has to use “like” so much in her questioning. It makes her sound like a teenager. At least she let them speak without constantly interrupting
Elizabeth McGovern's performance was just perfect
What a fantastic interview! I feel like this interviewer is a true fan and was asking intelligent questions with purpose and a keen interest. Things, that I as a fan of writing and acting, would also want to know.
Absolutely agree……
One of the best interviews I've watched in a while. Interviewer asked meaningful, fresh questions. Seems like she really is a fan herself!
Very nice interview. I really like this interviewer, she asked on point questions to her guests and then encouraged them to answer at their own pace. The last question and answer was fantastic. Well done!
I absolutely loved this movie and all the years of enjoying the show. Excellent writing all the way around with a superb cast to execute it, bravo.

Ok the interviewer should get a raise she did a splendid job! Marvelous, really!
What a wonderful interview!! I am obsessed with Downton Abbey and the Rolling Stones, who knew there would be such a cool connection?
The interviewer is defo a McGonneville fan
I like that name, McGonneville.
Her name is McGovern
Anthony yeah i know mcgonneville is their names mashed together - a ship name
Corny
I love them two together.
this is the best interview for a cobert shipper

Incredible mind boggling writing & storytelling.
I wish "Outlander " had the services of this interviewer ... she is stellar
Omg the interviewer is our Cobert shipper champion!

Hands down an excellent interview!
The movie was fantastic just fantastic.
Nice interview!
I saw the movie this past weekend, and it is fabulous indeed.
Gee, Hugh wore his pajama top for a shirt... God love him. I saw the film and it was fantastic, The Dames, Maggie and Penelope major scene stealers

i can't believe you just made me live through sybil's death again
Great show .
Loved the Movie! First movie in about 6 years I willingly paid to see.
That last line was important. 👍
I heard that Fellowes wrote in the death of Matthew because the actor wanted off the series. To hear that Sybil was "killed" for the same reason was a bit of a surprise.
What other reason would there be?
Love the snipe at rich people at the end 😅
I am waitin for UA-cam to load up the movie! I already paid for it!

10:20 WHY his explanation is so gripping!! peculiar voice..
Kate and Will supposedly are fans of Downton Abbey. There are photos floating around the internet of Kate visiting with the cast of the TV show.
I wish she wouldn't keep addressing them as "you guys."
I hardly noticed. I thought the questions she asked were so refreshing and interesting. She got them talking deeper into the storylines and character arcs and I got the feeling the actors were engaged.
True. She says « guys » and it sounds disrespectful. I know she is not interviewing the Queen, but it sounds bad.

No one's gonna talk about how Hugh got his favourite Dowager quote wrong? It's "I never ARGUE. I explain."😂😂
GUYS... sounds so familiar.... As if she was a close friend to them. A little polite distance would be good. My opinion only.
Whats a weekend ? 😂
