My favorite kind of folk / country music is the kind that’s eerie and haunting like this. Ghost stories, murder ballads, and dark fairy tales.

Another perfect example of undeniable talent not meaning financial success …..Townes is better than 50% of what you hear on classic rock/country radio 🤨

He's widely adored by fans of more.... eh.... Niche music. Like, if you ask a metalhead, or a punk, or whatever if there's any country or folk they love, Townes is sure to be one of the most common responses (as well as Hoyt Axton.)

My jaw dropped and everything else melted away when i heard this for the first time. The atmosphere of it instantly consumed me. Beautiful and foreboding. Nick Cave seems to have repeatedly reaped the rewards of Townes pioneering work.

If you ever see this song or comment know that your part of the world that's meant to stay if it were put to the test, seeking out this songs proves your still of normal consciousness and not a complete momo, hopefully UA-cam last long enough people even past me grandkids could see this and hopefully people will still seek this but if you find it God bless you and cherish all small things for those are tye real important things not the TV or phones or bong rips that let you pass tye time to tye inevitable, even tho bongrips enhance the experience just all in moderation, still God bless ya and have a wonderful journey

I've noticed that one of the many musicians inspired by Van Zandt is Nick Cave. Cave's Where the Wild Roses Grow sounds like this song, even both of the lyrics have the same vibe.
