    Noel, I also follow Sam and Bec with the Irish Homestead. You are having the same frustrating task of cleaning and pointing but I do enjoy the very good results. I have wondered whether using a leaf blower wouldn't be a help with cleaning the stonework prior to repointing. Removing lintels does disturb the stonework, you need to build up a little pantry of dressed stones to help you rebuild. I am enjoying the rebuilding and cannot wait for the new section to start.

      The inside stonework is looking really nice, pointing is a long tedious process but the results are worthwhile. Perhaps you need to visit a local charity shop and get a few dedicated measuring containers, wives tend to take a dim view of kitchen utensils put to shop use. I speak from experience, l regularly check my husbands workshop for my kitchen tools and knives.

    Hi guys, we just binge watched a few of your videos this morning and had a good chuckle!
    Love the optician reference when bending the pipe, can totally relate from my days of specs. Oh and we really felt for you guys when you went back to the UK Jill. Its a difficult juggle for you both 😢
    You definitely deserve some new pots for the new kitchen Jill. I used some of the old pots from the house when doing some cement work on the wall plates, they are super handy with the handles.
    Noel has done a super job with the inside walls and lintels, tough going 💪
    Loving the videos Jill, great work on the editing, not an easy job!
    Anyway much much love and hugs C & R

      Ah, sooo lovely to hear from you. Likewise, with busy full days it’s a challenge keeping up with video watching and the channels we want to follow. I do try to dip in to see what you’re up to and to hear your voices and banter which is always uplifting. How lovely to know you’ve been binge watching - that’s a real compliment. Foundations are down now so I really need to get busy with the editing to keep you updated. It’s on my to do list. Looking forward to enjoying some downtime with you when we all come up for air eventually!!! Love and hugs back to you too. ❤️❤️❤️

    What a lot of work, but it's going to be great! Couldn't quite identify the music at the end, but it sounded like a song from my youth, by Johnny Tillotson, Poetry in Motion, very apt for Noel's meticulous work. If it wasn't that exactly, the melody was close!

    • @TheHiddenHouseIreland
      @TheHiddenHouseIreland  Місяць тому

      It’s become a kind of theme tune. The music is from UA-cam studio copyright free and is mentioned in the video description. Yes, Noel has worked hard and is feeling much better about everything now things are starting to happen. 😊🙌

    I'm wondering why you are not using lime render... it helps the stones and walls to breath and you wont have damp issues in the future. Maybe you have your reasons..

    Your saucepan incident reminded me of my father using my mothers electric cake mixer to drill holes in the wall to install a window , when the mixer was burnt out when we went to use it for baking my father claimed we must have jammed a spoon in it ,he also claimed my mothers flour sifter to sieve cement . My long suffering mother . I hope these stories don't give Noel ideas !
