    The best about Lumo is not only offering low cost prices or comfort but encouraging people use rail instead of flying. I have to say I'm impressed with the bright light above the tray. I believe Lumo will be a hit in the long run as rail travel is far more environmentally friendly than air travel.

    • @philroberts7238
      @philroberts7238 2 роки тому +9

      I believe this is the intention - to compete with the air in terms of both time and money. It's one of the reasons why it doesn't stop at many intermediate stops: the other reason being that it doesn't challenge LNER's franchise. (Morpeth doesn't affect them, but York, for example, certainly would!)

    Lumo are definitely doing something right! Their tickets are all sold out until December! Can't blame people for booking, that price is absolutely outstanding value for the distance you're travelling.

    • @darthwiizius
      @darthwiizius 2 роки тому +12

      This price works out about the same each way as a standard off peak capital card from my town's station which is less than 40 miles from Kings Cross and uses those same tracks. If they stop some of these in Stevenage(or Peterborough) then I'll be popping up to Edinburgh every winter for a couple of days.

    • @thebcplayer
      @thebcplayer 2 роки тому +2

      I think they do stop at Stevenage! The website said they do anyway. They're allowed to stop there, but not at Peterborough, York, Doncaster or the like. Doing so would put them at direct competition with LNER, so I don't think they can do that.

      Yes being sold out until December means the £15 tickets for people with railcards quoted in all these vlogs are no longer bookable. Cheapest fares will be starting at £30 now for most non railcard passengers and those are capacity controlled. If you can get a bargain and times suit then go for it.

The seats in the saloon were nearly all reserved for passengers getting on at Peterborough, only 50 mins from The 'Cross. Anyway, those seats were no more than hard plastic with a piece of cloth over them! At least in the vestibule one could stretch one's legs and get up now and then to avoid 'opera bottom'.

    I know it's a high speed service, but it's a shame it doesn't stop in York of Leeds. I mean, if anybody is going to appreciate a budget train service, it's a Yorkshireman like me!

      Ditto as i said already george hudson would turn in his grave knowing trains do not stop at york.Fellow yorkie too.

      York seems a more logical stopping point than Morpeth

    I have travelled by train between London and Edinburgh and London and York several times on my trips to the UK and I absolutely would take Lumo. Seems a very comfortable experience, the light above the tray is brilliant, you can't beat the exceptional cost and I actually love the sleek look of the train, coupled with the blue color.
    Thanks for the excellent review, as always, Dylan!

    Love these new videos. The voice over and seeing your face makes it more personal and I think friendly. Plus I think your video content is much better now too. Keep up the good work. I travel on lner from Doncaster to kings cross occasionally. But the ticket cost is astronomical.

    It's worth noting that in order to pass the Department for Transport's tests to ensure they don't abstract revenue from LNER, Lumo's competitors are officially easyJet and British Airways. Seems like they're doing a good job there in terms of both price and comfort!

    • @bikerpaul68
      @bikerpaul68 2 роки тому

      The railways were privatized to create comptetion and drive fares down, but now Lumo isn't allowed to compete with LNER! Crazy.

    • @dudleyserious9985
      @dudleyserious9985 2 роки тому

      Why doesn't it stop at Doncaster? There's an airport there. Just checked on a return flight £435. Sure LNER will be beating flight prices even from Edinburgh and Newcastle.

      To overcome this, you probably have to book an aisle and get a window seat.
