Good question. The hostels in Chiang Mai that you used to stay in should have notified immigration (within 24 hours after your initial check-in time) that you were staying there, so you should be registered in the system. If you can't get the TM30 from your hostel, you could try going to the immigration office without the form and the immigration office staff will have to check that you're in the system (which could take an additional 30mins to 1 hour depending on how busy it is). If possible, I"d try to get the form beforehand just in case there's a lag in the registration -- and it saves everyone time.

Hi, does your hotel provide the tm30 form before you go immigration and if so, does immigration accept tm30 from hotel youve only stayed at fir 2 days if youve been in thailand for 26 days already?... or do they ask for detail of all previous hotels and addresses...thanks in advance
From my understanding, all hotels have to notify immigration about new guests at the hotel within 24-hours so your new hotel should have the form for you. Immigration didn't ask me about all the previous places I stayed so that shouldn't be an issue for you 👍
Thanks for the quick reply, the previous accommodation was at friend's and family and they're quite old and no one was aware of this tm30, so I'm hoping just to book into hotel 3 days prior to immigration and the tm30 from them should suffice as I don't want to burden or worry the family if that makes sense, good luck on your travels, cheers
Tough call. I would suggest searching the forums on Reddit to see what people's experiences are with that situation. Apparently it is 500 baht per day for overstaying the tourist visa date, so technically it would be cheaper to pay the fine (though overstaying doesn't look great on the record if you ever plan to return to Thailand in the future). Hey Marco, good question. I would think it would be unnecessary to stay in a hotel considering your situation and that you are staying with your girlfriend's family. I assume that your girlfriend is Thai and that they are local residents, but to follow the rules and play it safe, they may still need to fill out a TM30 form on your behalf (and it will avoid future problems when you plan to extend your visa later). There is a way to complete the forms and submit them online (just like the hotels do within 24 hours after your arrival). Here's the website link with the info... www.immigration.go.th/en/?p=14721

Good question. The rules are not crystal clear unfortunately. To play it super safe, you should probably book a cheap onward flexible ticket departing out of Thailand on/before the initial 60 days of your visa expire. Then, once you're in Thailand, change the departure date or get a refund. Ultimately, it's up to the immigration officer if you decide to try another method. 😅

Hey bro, i have a question, After doing the visa extension process, did you change your plane flight for 30 days later? Or your plane tickets from the beginning were already planned with the extra of your 30 days?
I had cancelled my flight earlier and got a refund. It wasn't necessary to show an award ticket at the visa extension office at the time. You should always check the updated policies just in case though. 👍
