Interesting thoughts. I found this helpful to watch. Defo going to try and limit my caffeine, and stop listening to so much podcasts (basically constant for me).

Big respect, found caffeine is a big one. Never thought of limiting long form content consumption because I suppose its always short form that is demonised but I might have to try it myself because now that you say it I guess for people who have quit short form content long form becomes their new vice

I wanted to comment on your breath work section... I have read in many places about the powers of the breath and the importance of conscious "control" over the breath.
however, in my own practices (and what i gather from conversations with peers) i find that breath work can definitely calm us down and help a bit... but there really seems to be no "big benefit" from it.
The reason i bring this up is in relation to another point you made about the modern lack of attention spans.
My brain storm suggestion would be to connect these. I think the modern lack of attention (and intention/belief) has resulted in "normal people" not even being able to "access the proper benefits" of breathwork.
idk if it is conscious skepticism, or an inability to mentally (or spiritually) focus long enough and hard enough to actually be effective...but I almost think modern man is so distracted, and so used to being gaslit, that we are actually almost unable to "really believe in" breathwork.
Nietzsche said God is dead, and I think he meant to imply something like this lack of intention and focus and belief in something outside the "ego" caused us to be selfish and distractive and decadent. And maybe Nietzsche was not the right figure to highlight here, but I think there is something about modern culture and the capitalization of attention, and the ways in which it is being addictedly diverted towards individual impotence.
Sorry for the ramble, but im trying to set a stage, and see what you make of it...
Is the soil of modernity bereft of the nutrition to grow citizens strong like trees that can weather the seasons and bear fruit to the next generation? Or have we extracted all that matters out of culture, have we sapped the spirit out of culture.....or to my point... can we no longer achieve transcendence through conscious focus and will.
Have we been broken, and is this why we are unable to believe in breath work?

Love this comment my friend, no shame in rambling a bit because I really like your point. I think for most "normal people" as you said breathwork might not be something they can just get into overnight, but that is not to say with practice you will not be able to start getting in touch with your more present side.
When I first started doing breathwork the most I could do was about 10 minutes and whilst I was I wouldn't be present but now after doing it consistently for about 3 months I can sit and do it for an hour and reach proper spiritual presence and almost transcendence in a sense.
I truly think practices like this are for everyone but they do take time to get good at, so I understand the scepticism because I was for a time as well, but if it is something you think you would benefit from or see great results with you becoming more present then keep doing it definitely.
To finish on your overall point I wouldn't like to definitively say whether this generation are overall destined to be weak and cursed with modernity, not being able to get in touch with a more present or spiritual side (only time will tell). But one thing I do know is that people are waking up, this is evident, and with a big enough voice I feel that the trajectory not of our whole generation but of a lot of people can be changed. To be able to start making people aware of the problems with this modern life I feel will make a big change to a lot of lives and we can see these changes starting to happen, not necessarily on a really large scale yet but I feel it can be.

I hear that, I didn't manage to quit on my first try, it took 3 tries and honestly who knows I might go back to it and then have to quit again. But what I can say is my personal experience of how I have found life after stopping caffeine and I have no complaints. Ultimately if caffeine genuinely doesn't effect you that badly then don't quit, I suppose that advice was just more for people who find themselves in a similar situation to me with it increasing their stress and anxiety levels
