Change of Seasons is not an official studio album, it's an EP that was chock full of covers. Minus the title track, it's essentially a cover album. It's not terrible by any means, but I understand why they decided not to include it.

I agree completely! This has been my first Prog Report video (and I immediately subscribed), and I was nodding my head at Kyle throughout the entire thing.

Great list! Just one note on the artwork for FII: It was created by Storm Thorgerson, not Hugh Syme. Syme started doing work for DT from Octavarium and onwards. Thorgerson is famed for his work with Pink Floyd among others.
For me, S: Octavarium, Images and Words, Scenes from a Memory A: Train of Thought, Six Degrees, Black Clouds, Dramatic Turn, Systematic Chaos B: Distance Over Time, A View From The Top of the World, Self Titled C: Falling Into Infinity, Astonishing D: When Dream and Day Unite
This is also how I'd rank the albums. I could put SFAM at number one and Octavarium at two, even though Octavarium is by far my favorite DT song without any other track coming even close to it. But yeah, this is a really great list imo.
Man, my tastes in music has changed so much over the years. I stopped listening to DT after constant disappointment since Black Clouds. I agreed so much with Portnoy that they needed a break to get a fresh take. Everything since has been so stale, with only a few good highlights. Then every once in a while I'll throw on older DT, and just remember why i fell in love with this type of music. Their other stuff had so much more heart and creativity. If someone can point me to a song that has good melodies, creative vocals or ANYTHING other than playing instruments fast, please let me know.
100% agree. I’ve felt that everything since Systematic Chaos is “paint by numbers” stale. I saw DT on the View from the Top of the World tour and literally almost fell asleep. Just boring.
I wholeheartedly agree. I didn't realize it at the time, but yes, I feel Portnoy was spot on. I saw them a few years ago and it was so boring. I'm hoping the return of Portnoy reinvigorate. Although I feel like they should take some time to write the new album.
It depends on what side of the band you like more but.. Breaking All Illusions, Bridges In The Sky, Illumination Theory, At Wit's End, Barstool Warrior, A View From The Top of the World, Transcending Time. I think those are my favorites from that era.
100% agree here. I stopped listening to them ten years ago. Disappointed with everything they did after Awake. We will see what happens in the new album. Let's always remember Kevin Moore is gone.
S: Train of Thought, Images and Words, Scenes from a Memory A: Six Degrees, Awake, Octavarium B: Falling Into Infinity, Black Clouds, Dramatic Turn C: Systematic Chaos, Distance Over Time, Self Titled D: When Dream and Day Unite, Astonishing, A View From The Top of the World

Great job guys! Six Degrees (the song) is a MONSTER of a song. I agree that the overture might be a little too long, but that is because we probably already know the songs. However, if it is the very first time you listen to it, it probably justify its length imo. I'd be great to see a The Dear Hunter episode 😉
ADTOE was my first DT album, so I'm biased, but I love the sound production of that album. I like the way the drums sound. That album has more of an Octovacrium feel to me. I love the piano section of On The Backs of Angles. Lost Not Forgotten has one of Petrucci's best solos.
The problem with 6 Degrees IMO is that the title track sounds way better live on the Score DVD with the real orchestra vs the fake sounds on the studio album.
@@Andrey_Yurkoff Honestly, at the time, I felt that way - particularly with the epic. It felt like ideas that had been better executed on previous albums. The standalone song disc, on the other hand, featured some new and unique moments I think.
The Astonishing is one of my favorites albums by any band. Dream Theater is my favorite band. I have every album of course and I don't understand why this album gets so much hate. Yeah it's very different for a Dream Theater album. It doesn't have a lot of metal in it. Yes it's probably a bit longer than it should be. But it's one of the most beautiful albums I have ever heard in my entire life. I would have to put it in S tier with Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence and Metropolis Part 2: Scenes from a Memory. It's a very mature and different direction for my favorite band and I think it pretty much blows away any Ayreon album as much as I really like Ayreon.
S: Metropolis Pt 2, Awake, Images & Words A: Black Clouds, Dramatic Turn Of Events, Train Of Thought B: Six Degrees, Octavarium, Systematic Chaos C: Falling Into Infinity, Distance Over Time, View From... D: The Astonishing, Self Titled, When Dream And Day Unite
"the count of tuscany is my favorite DT song" but also says he cant get into Systematic chaos because "the vampire and all that I dont dig that stuff" 🧐
Can’t believe no one liked Rite of Passage!!!?? Images is timeless and to me one of the best albums ever made and I still get called to it once a week at least. Minus pull me under cause it was commercially pushed.
Funny to see that SDoIT isn't A tier for some of you, which makes me think other fans have the same opinion, but it's up there for me, top 3 easily! And I also love ADToE, not their worst drum sound at all, better sound and song writing than the self-titled and BCSL for example imo. Great show, guys! Keep up the good work
I bought all the albums from When Dream and Day unite came out on vinyl..then moved forward...And so my ranking is as they came and I digested them. Awake is in 'S' every time...'Voices' is epic!
My List S - Scenes, Images, Six Degrees A - Awake, Black Clouds, Train of Thought B - Octavarium, Astonishing, Dramatic Turn C - Distance, Infinity, Dream and Day D - Systematic, Self Titled, View Overall you guys had a great list!
Nice list! It is so refreshing to see someone rank The Astonishing in anything but D. I would also have it in B. And if they could have trimmed the fat and did some final editing, it could very well be one of my top 5 favs.
My list S: Scenes From A Memory, Images and Words, Octavarium A: Awake, Systematic Chaos, Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence B: Train of Thought, Falling Into Infinity, Black Clouds & Silver Linings C: The Astonishing, When Dream and Day Unite, Distance Over Time D: A Dramatic Turn of Events, Dream Theater, A View From The Top

The riff in Rite of Passage for the solo section, and the riff in Shattered Fortress just before and during the keyboard solo, that develops from riffs in both Glass Prison and Dying Soul, are two of my favorite DT riffs.
S - Images and Words - Metropolis Pt. 2 - Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence A - Awake - Train of Thought - Black Clouds & Silver Linings B - Falling Into Infinity - Octavarium - Systematic Chaos C - Dream Theater - The Astonishing - A View From the Top of the World D - Distance Over Time - A Dramatic Turn of Events - When Dream and Day Unite
They've been my favorite band since I bought Awake after reading a review in the local newspaper. I had played drums for a few years, and THAT drum intro hit me 💪 IMO they made four perfect records in a row: SFAM, 6DOIT, TOT, 8, but have been kind of uneven after that. Many great songs though, on every record.
Thank you for representing Falling Into Infinity. I've loved that album forever. In my personal opinion I would have top 3 albums being Awake, I&W, and 6 Degrees. Love SFAM, but that's just how it works out.
Thanks for doing DT, been a fan since 92 and they are my favourite band, my favourite album is A VIEW FROM THE TOP OF THE WORLD, for me there is no other band that comes close to the amount of QUALITY songs they have produced ❤❤❤

Lol the first time I got a chance to see DT live was with the Astonishing tour. I actually really enjoy it, enough to have gotten a signed vinyl at the show I went to 😂
First time on the channel - this was great and a lot of fun with the wheel! Now that I'm here, I thought I'd tell you a funny story. I first heard of Dream Theater when I saw the video for Pull Me Under on Headbangers Ball when it came out. I was so excited about this new sound and this new band and how hard that song was that I went out and bought the cassette of Images And Words, and I couldn't wait to hear more of what this killer new band sounded like! I had a bunch of my metalhead friends over, and we sat down in the living room to listen to the whole album together for the first time. Pull Me Under kicks it off. Everybody's just stoked on it. And then... Another Day comes on and the embarrassment on my face when I had to explain why Kenny G (cause duh it sounded like him so of course my friends thought that) was on a metal album - the mortified feeling I had was so intense that I didn't listen to Dream Theater again or play that album all the way through until the late 2000s. True story!
I agree with miuch of this. Here's mine (I should make a video. I already did a SONGS list video a few months ago). S: Awake, Images and Words, Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence A: Scenes from a Memory, B: Falling Into Infinity (this would be A is you include the Cleaning out the Closet Tracks), When Dream and Day Unite, Train of Thought C: Octavarium, Black Clouds and Silver Linings, A Dramatic Turn of Events, Distance Over Time D: Systematic Chaos, Dream Theater Haven't Heard in full: The Astonishing and A View from the Top of the World, although I suspect both would go in D.
@@KyleFagala yeah. I feel like songs such as Raise the Knife, The Way It Used to Be and Speak To Me, are actually better than nearly every track on FII. But I guess that's why those did get released, most recently on the Lost But Not Forgotten stuff.
When dream and day unite is an S album. A fortune in lies...ytse jam ....the killing hand...afterlife...only a matter of time ...light fuse and get away....simply incredible
I didn't realize how much I liked Endless Sacrifice until I saw it live. Jordan even brought out his keytar which was awesome. It's in my top 20 for sure, maybe even top 10.
S: Images & Words, Black Clouds & Silver Linings, Awake A: Train of Thought, Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence, Scenes From a Memory B: A Dramatic Turn of Events, Octavarium, A View From the Top of the World C: Falling Into Infinity, Systematic Chaos, The Astonishing D: Dream Theater, Distance Over Time, When Dream and Day Unite

In the end not a completely crazy tier list for DT. FII is pretty high in A-tier but I wouldn’t rank it lower than B. FII is definitely DTs most under appreciated album. I would have included A Change of Seasons in this and it would be B tier for me as well. ACoS is one of the only 20+ minute “songs” I actually like. Train of Thought is S tier from me but I can see this being a polarizing album. The more prog leaning fans wouldn’t like it as much but the pure “metal-heads” like me were waiting for this album. Glad I recently found this channel.
Fun times, for me its: S Scenes from a memory, Six Degrees, The Astonishing A Dramatic Turn, Images and Words, Systematic Chaos B Octavarium, Train of Thought, Black Clouds C Falling into Infinity, Awake, Dream Theater D View From Top, Distance over Time, WDaDU
Train of thought was a very heavy album that really molded the next 10 years of guitar shred. It literally educated the most proficient shreders that went to do from prog to even metalcore. Its really a prog album? Of course not. But the influence of this album is undeniable
Great episode! As a huge fan of DT since 2007, I agree with you on my top 5. The biggest difference from my list I think, is that I'd swap Systematic Chaos with Falling Into Infinity. I'll always have a soft spot for SC since it was my first album from them that I bought after getting into their music. Other than that, our lists look identical, actually 🙂
Dudes... you forgot my fav ever track from them, a change of season. I think it's their masterpiece and most epic piece. Otherwise it's a well done tier list, totally agree with it.
he says he loves everything. I dont know how many times he says "its one of my favorite songs". I dont think if it was his list he wouldnt put anything in the C & D teir.. lol
Falling Into Infinity is so underrated. Love the Derek Era and loved that Sons of Apollo played a few live. Also Astonishing is a great album with some of James' best performances. I will die on this hill.
Thing with The Astonishing is it takes a really sophisticated perspective to understand and appreciated. I love this record because it is 2 hours. It is A or B level because it challenges the listener. 100% in the Geoff camp here. I read the DVD didn’t get done because they just forgot to arrange it all, and in the end it was super expensive, for them.
S: Ocatvarium, A dramatic turn of events, Scenes from a memory, A: Train of thought, Systematic chaos, Awake, B: Black Clouds, Falling into infinity, Six degrees, Dream theater, At the end of the top of the world, C: Images and words, D: Distance over time, The astonishing, When dream and day unite
Surprisingly good list! I thought I was gonna be angry. Only REAL changes to be made: Astonishing - S-tier Kyle - RIP headphone users Fun episode! Hour easily went by.
@@Beefnhammer To me, Astonishing easily has the most sofisticated and clever writing DT has done in 20 years. Maybe ever. Even to a point that me and a friend were suspecting ghost writers.. Because of all the bland and random (bad) melodies DT have been writing over the years. Not talking about riffs or proggy stuf, just composition wise. Flowing melodies, modulations, clever changes. S-tier. Oh, talking about disc 1 only.... :D
@@martijnvanspaendonck7989 I'm no expert in music theory so there very well may be an elegance to the composition on the Astonishing that is not present on other DT albums. But that alone doesn't make a great album. It's extremely bloated, boring, and I think a lot of people (myself included) found the story to be melodramatic and uninteresting. It's got a few bright moments, but getting through the whole thing is a chore.
Dudes! When WDADU came out, l was working at a record store on Long Island, New York. A coworker of mine knew MP and was good friends with him. The WHOLE band came down to the store to sign the display that she had made in the store. I remember the five cats arriving, all dressed in all black. They probably signed something for me, maybe my CD or a poster. So, since l was there from (basically) the get go, l have a particular fondness for their debut record. I also saw the late, great Charlie Dominici play a full show live with the boys as well. Living in NY, I’ve seen a lot of classic DT shows and special events. I was at the infamous Steve Stone show at Sundance, the acoustic trio show at Mulcahy’s Pub in Wantagh, the Score show at Radio City Music Hall, etc. l plan on doing a show on this on my tiny, little, small potatoes 🥔 channel in the near future. I’ll leave you with the fact that MP sent me an advance cassette of I&W, months before it officially came out. That’s because he knew how much l loved the debut release, especially “Only a Matter of Time.” Somewhere in my rather voluminous collection, l still have that audio cassette tape. Time to watch your tier ranking of my fave all time act, YES! Keep up the funky, fresh work. Cheers from The Big Apple. 🍏 Rock Out & Prog On… … in each and every lexicon! Your pal and mine, ~ The Dreaded, Shredded and Unleaded Davey Cretin from CRETIN CLASSICS.
People need to remember, DT started as a metal band, with prog tendencies , rather than the other way around......so, to say Train of Thought isn't strong...is ridiculous
My list based on personal taste: S Black Clouds and Silver Linings Six Degrees Scenes from a Memory Systematic Chaos A Train of Thought Octavarium A Change of Seasons Images and Words Awake B Dream Theater A Dramatic Turn of Events Distance Over Time A View From Atop of the World C Falling into Infinity When Day and Dream unite D The Astonishing
Black Clouds & Silver Linings was the album that introduced me to Dream Theater, mainly because of the Queen cover on disc 2. I've been a huge Queen fan since I was a kid (early fifties now), and a rock and metal fan in general. So I listened to the album, loved every track, including all the covers on the second disc, and then went looking for their other stuff. I've been a fan ever since, and have listened to everything they've put out, including the cover albums (Metallica, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Iron Maiden). I will say that the first track on Black Clouds is almost a taster of what DT can do as a band. As you go through the song, the genre of rock changes, the tempo changes, and it ends up sounding like a technical demo. Still a fantastic band. My only problem is I'm in the UK, and the chance of seeing them live is small.
This tier list actually ended up pretty accurate to my tastes! I was worried about it until things got bumped up/down. The ONE glaring placement (to me) is FIF in A. These days, there are only 4-5 songs I would listen to from it, and the rest are some of DT's most boring work. Also shouts to Geoff for loving The Astonishing. While obviously too long, I love it and happy to see someone on the panel does too!
S Tier: Scenes From A Memory, Six Degrees, Images & Words A Tier: Black Clouds, Awake, A Dramatic Turn of Events, Distance Over Time B Tier: Octavarium, Train of Thought, Systematic Chaos, A View From the Top of the World C Tier: Falling Into infinity, Dream Theater, The Astonishing D Tier: When Dream And Day Unite
Distance Over Time is an exceptional album. Underrated dude…. So many good solos, melodies, and sounds. “Barstool Warrior” and “Fall Into the Light” are exceptional songs…… It’s also a pretty heavy album. I love that album. I like it more then metropolis part 2. I barely like that one. It has too many soft moments and just didn’t do it for me. We all hear music differently I guess. At least we all love Dream Theater; that’s all that matters. Systematic Chaos is amazing, you guys are tripping …it deserves at least “A” tier. Images and Words belongs in “S” for sure. Awake is amazing so, A tier is fine. Train of Thought is amazing and deserves “A” or “S” tier. Just my opinions.
Train of Thought in C was a crime 😢, even going to B, to me it will always be a S tier album
First I thought you were talking about the tuning in C
Well, as much as I enjoy Train of Thought, it sounds to me like a successor to Metallica's Black album - only it is better.
I always think of it as Progtallica. It's a great love letter to Metallica and I can't imagine it being possibly better than it already is.
Train of Thought is fantastic, so melodic and heavy! I'm not a big fan of the more prog bits of it but still a straight A tier album, definitly better than Octavarium.
ToT is a masterpiece. Geoff is a curmudgeonly nerd. Anyone who craps on this album can kiss my ass.
S: Octavarium and Scenes from a Memory
A: Black Clouds, Systematic Chaos, Images and Words

Scarred has to be DT's greatest song and it is among so many greats on that album. No way Awake is a C tier.
Awake is a S tier album. Dark, melodic and a certain atmospheric charm.
Scarred is one of my favorites also. One of James Labries best vocal performance and some of the most catchy instrumental work.

Great list! Just one note on the artwork for FII: It was created by Storm Thorgerson, not Hugh Syme. Syme started doing work for DT from Octavarium and onwards. Thorgerson is famed for his work with Pink Floyd among others.
Hahaha glad I’m not the only one who hears a lot of Holdsworth in that Trial of Tears solo, maybe my favorite Petrucci solo ever
For me,
S: Octavarium, Images and Words, Scenes from a Memory
A: Train of Thought, Six Degrees, Black Clouds, Dramatic Turn, Systematic Chaos
B: Distance Over Time, A View From The Top of the World, Self Titled
C: Falling Into Infinity, Astonishing
D: When Dream and Day Unite
This is spot on. Exactly how I’d do it.
where's Awake?
@@mposh B tier
At Witt's End-Distance over Time

A: Six Degrees, Awake, Octavarium
B: Falling Into Infinity, Black Clouds, Dramatic Turn

Scenes from a memory is the best album of time. S tier: six degrees, awake, train of thought, change of season, i&w.
I think that's the only album I've heard from them.. Use to listen to it over and over again as teenager...
Another great episode .. this is such a good idea , it’s sparks an interesting discussion!
Been looking for an excuse to make one of these, so now I'm making one, and making one. :)

I agree with this list 100%!! I listen to Scenes, 6 degrees and Train straight through all the time.
I love The Silent Man! one of my favourites on Awake.
Great show.
Looking forward to next episodes!
The problem with 6 Degrees IMO is that the title track sounds way better live on the Score DVD with the real orchestra vs the fake sounds on the studio album.
I definitely agree with you there.
The problem is that 6 Degrees didn’t bring anything new to the table.
@@Andrey_Yurkoff Honestly, at the time, I felt that way - particularly with the epic. It felt like ideas that had been better executed on previous albums. The standalone song disc, on the other hand, featured some new and unique moments I think.
Dramatic turn is s tier for me. I heard it for the first time a couple years ago and I love the riffs and solos so much.
Completely agree. Drum sound aside, it’s everything a Dream Theater album should be.
Breaking All Illusions is sooooo strong and feels very Portnoyesque in it's composition.
Best mangini album. That and the self titled album.
nah, it's full of pointless shredding, and it contains some of the worst songs they ever put out
@@albertoalfakworst up to that time. The worst was yet to follow.
Great episode! Scenes and Images always at the top :)
Black Clouds is one that I hear the most.
S: Metropolis Pt 2, Awake, Images & Words
A: Black Clouds, Dramatic Turn Of Events, Train Of Thought
B: Six Degrees, Octavarium, Systematic Chaos

"NOOOOO"
lmao
"the count of tuscany is my favorite DT song" but also says he cant get into Systematic chaos because "the vampire and all that I dont dig that stuff" 🧐
Can’t believe no one liked Rite of Passage!!!?? Images is timeless and to me one of the best albums ever made and I still get called to it once a week at least. Minus pull me under cause it was commercially pushed.
Images and Words, Scenes, Awake, Six Degrees. I don't know how there's even a question about those being their 4 best albums.
Easily top four. Just my order puts Awake top. And Black Clouds is fifth.
i find myself going back to DoT a lot
i'd add the self titled alum and take away Awake
Octavarium is up there for me!

Agree with most of this, but someone needs to explain the hate for Distance Over Time to me. It's always been my favorite Mangini era album.
They've been my favorite band since I bought Awake after reading a review in the local newspaper. I had played drums for a few years, and THAT drum intro hit me 💪
IMO they made four perfect records in a row: SFAM, 6DOIT, TOT, 8, but have been kind of uneven after that. Many great songs though, on every record.
I would love to see a Shadow Gallery, Ayreon or Pain of Salvation tier list.
Thank you for representing Falling Into Infinity. I've loved that album forever.
In my personal opinion I would have top 3 albums being Awake, I&W, and 6 Degrees.
Love SFAM, but that's just how it works out.
I'm glad to discover that not EVERYONE thinks I'm a pariah for enjoying Falling Into Infinity! ha
Thanks for doing DT, been a fan since 92 and they are my favourite band, my favourite album is A VIEW FROM THE TOP OF THE WORLD, for me there is no other band that comes close to the amount of QUALITY songs they have produced ❤❤❤
And the fact that they're still putting out relevant material this far into their career is a testament to how incredible they are!

True story!
Thanks for checking it out. Funny story. But opposite for me. I loved that a metal band used a sax on a song. Thought it was so different. 😀
@progreport oh it's different alright 😆 especially at 17 in a room full of your peers haha
I agree with miuch of this.
Here's mine (I should make a video. I already did a SONGS list video a few months ago).
S: Awake, Images and Words, Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence
A: Scenes from a Memory,
B: Falling Into Infinity (this would be A is you include the Cleaning out the Closet Tracks), When Dream and Day Unite, Train of Thought
C: Octavarium, Black Clouds and Silver Linings, A Dramatic Turn of Events, Distance Over Time
D: Systematic Chaos, Dream Theater
Haven't Heard in full: The Astonishing and A View from the Top of the World, although I suspect both would go in D.
If the record company hadn't meddled with Falling Into Infinity, it would have been better. No doubt about that.
@@KyleFagala yeah. I feel like songs such as Raise the Knife, The Way It Used to Be and Speak To Me, are actually better than nearly every track on FII.
But I guess that's why those did get released, most recently on the Lost But Not Forgotten stuff.

The best thing about Dream Theater is that for some people an album is S tier and for others it's D tier.
I'm a more of a prog-leaning fan, not much of a metal-head, and Train of Thought is definitely S-tier for me!
Fun times, for me its:
S
Scenes from a memory, Six Degrees, The Astonishing
A
Dramatic Turn, Images and Words, Systematic Chaos
B
Octavarium, Train of Thought, Black Clouds
C
Falling into Infinity, Awake, Dream Theater
D
View From Top, Distance over Time, WDaDU
Train of thought was a very heavy album that really molded the next 10 years of guitar shred. It literally educated the most proficient shreders that went to do from prog to even metalcore. Its really a prog album? Of course not. But the influence of this album is undeniable
I'd definetely swap falling and octavarium with train and black clouds. Also, a change of season if considered an alvum is number1 top S tier !!
Would love to see you do this again but with Portnoy as a guest.
Images and Words on top, then whatever you want
S: 6DOIT, Scenes, I&W
A: Awake, Octavarium, ToT
B: FII, BCSL, SC
C: ADTOE, WDADU, DT
D: Astonishing, Distance, View
WHAT!?!? Falling into infinity over A View From The Top Of The World! A View is clearly an A and infinity is a D!! Plus there's no way DOT is a D!
Random comment: anyone remember the last DT/MP release (Raw Dog)? Cool song!
This list is legit. Well done guys!
Dudes... you forgot my fav ever track from them, a change of season. I think it's their masterpiece and most epic piece. Otherwise it's a well done tier list, totally agree with it.
Love the second half of Falling into Infinity, not so much the first.
Daniel puts Systematic Chaos in C then goes on to say he loves basically every song.
he says he loves everything. I dont know how many times he says "its one of my favorite songs". I dont think if it was his list he wouldnt put anything in the C & D teir.. lol
The S and A tiers are right out of my preference. A Change of Seasons is also S tier, for me, and shoutout to Kyle for mentioning it.
Falling Into Infinity is so underrated. Love the Derek Era and loved that Sons of Apollo played a few live. Also Astonishing is a great album with some of James' best performances. I will die on this hill.
This discussion is great, but to say that all of the tiers have to have the same number of albums in them is flawed.
That's our take on this and what makes it fun. :)
Falling Into Infinity in fourth place sure is a hot take! Not sure if I agree with all of your opinions, but an interesting listen for sure.
S: I&W, Awake, SDOIT
A: SFAM, DOT, ADTOE
B: BCASL, AVFTTOTW, WDADY
C: Systematic Chaos, TOT, Octovarium
D: The Astonishing, s/t, FII
Thing with The Astonishing is it takes a really sophisticated perspective to understand and appreciated. I love this record because it is 2 hours. It is A or B level because it challenges the listener. 100% in the Geoff camp here.
I read the DVD didn’t get done because they just forgot to arrange it all, and in the end it was super expensive, for them.
That was a good show. Some interesting viewpoints on the DT catalog. Are you guys going to do this with RUSH LPs?
S: Ocatvarium, A dramatic turn of events, Scenes from a memory, A: Train of thought, Systematic chaos, Awake, B: Black Clouds, Falling into infinity, Six degrees, Dream theater, At the end of the top of the world, C: Images and words, D: Distance over time, The astonishing, When dream and day unite
Surprisingly good list! I thought I was gonna be angry. Only REAL changes to be made:
Astonishing - S-tier
Kyle - RIP headphone users
Fun episode! Hour easily went by.
Point taken on the microphone levels. I've since addressed that. 🙉
Astonishing at S-tier is crazy.....

Moving train of thought down instead of falling into infinity?? I don’t think it’s their best but it’s one of them.
Not exactly prog but if y'all like Maiden please do a ranking of them!
I don’t think we’ll get to them but you never know.

Distance Over Time is an exceptional album. Underrated dude…. So many good solos, melodies, and sounds. “Barstool Warrior” and “Fall Into the Light” are exceptional songs……
It’s also a pretty heavy album.
Feels like they finally really hit their stride post-Portnoy with that one, I really enjoy the last two DT records.
