- Just a neat little detail I noticed recently in the "Fine Night of Debauchery" mission. Strauss saves Javier's life by giving a guard a big ol' bonk on the head with a bottle, which I found kinda funny.
More proof strauss was more loyal than the gang knew. Even if his business dealings were sketchy.
Its how Life works.....we cant blame him for the business

He was definitely a scum bag. He needed those people to play enforcer and debt collector. When the teams are clearly drawn between cops and “the gang”, Strauss was just as likely to get killed as anyone else and needed the people shooting to keep shooting. You don’t think he saved Javier because he liked Javier do you? Or because he loved the family? His act of defense was an act of self preservation.
Shame on Dutch for allowing loan sharking in the first place. If Arthur wants to know when their philosophy changed from helping others, accepting Strauss and his method for making money would be a good place to start. In all honesty, I felt bad kicking him out of the gang because he was relatively harmless. The money lending just felt slimy to me, even before I realized what it would ultimately mean to Arthur.
@@McDuffin Wtf are you on about? This gang was robbing and killing long before Strauss. His business is nothing compared to what else the gang did.
I like how he is running to the target, knocked it out and then easiley went back.. I mean this is the first time, Strauss does something to kill or knock out a guard. Nice
strauss also killed a pinkerton when him and john were being held hostage outside of the Valentine saloon

I know it isn't a big thing, but he also tries to fight off the guy who was taking him hostage at the Valentine saloon and you could see him holding a revolver when the pinkerton's find their camp at chapter 3 as well
Strauss was very loyal, and this proves not just that but he could also be a secret badass XD
yeah man, despite being captured by the pinkertons after he got kicked outa the camp he was loyal to dutch and the gang tills the end he died in trial

I think people shit on Strauss waay too much. Yea he was rather bad, but hell, he really was a good friend.
Right? I mean all the gang members have done bad things, I don't see why Strauss gets all the hate
@@Fleurig-xr5mm his business was really the most dishonourable of the whole gang, instead of robbing people who had money and could easily recover financially (Cornwall as an example), he took everything from poor people, leaving them to a slow and painful death, full of debts and without food or any good to live a decent life. You could say that instead of robbing and eventually killing folks like the rest of the gang did, he robbed, tortured and then left to die innocent people which i think is worse
Although I think the part where Arthur kicked Strauss out from the camp is because Arthur knows things are gonna be bad after that, and he feels that Micah and Dutch are gonna dispose him in a more horrific way.

Just because he wasn’t frozen with fear doesn’t mean he’s a loyalist to the cause or the group. It just means he’s got some soft metal balls.

It was probably a glitch, but I like the idea that Strauss isn't strong enough to actually break the bottle. Lol
I don't think it's a glitch, since this happens every time, haha. I've seen it in someone else's playthrough too.
bottles doesn't always break like in the movies like sand. Got a bottle on my head too... got in hospital. The bottle didn't break. They do break but not like in the movies. You need a little more force to break a bottle on a head with hair & hat

Strauss is a pretty interesting character, because the player, as far as I remember, never finds out if he's actually a Loyal member of the gang or just uses them to do his dirty work as his enforcers, sure, Arthur throws him out of camp but that's because he secretly blamed Strauss for the things he'd done and especially what followed with it, but we never get a clear answer about Strauss' motives and if he really deserved to be abandoned or if he just does his part to support the gang. I mean, all the other guys rob and murder folks all the time, so giving some people money and wanting it back isn't really that bad at all, although he seems like one of the most unsympathetic characters in the whole game at the end.
In the epilogue when John is leaving with Charles in Saint Denis, he informs John that Strauss was captured by the Pinkertons and interrogated. He died in custody without revealing any information about the gang; John praises him for staying loyal until his death

Funny enough, if you shoot that guy before Strauss knocks him out, you lose honor. Because if you don't shoot him, he survives.
that's doesn't make sense. you don't lose honor for killing the others.
@@mizu5965 You indeed do not, but this is rdr2 we are talking about. The game where the honor and wanted systems as well as guns in cutscenes were made by 17 year old interns
and the bottle didn't break up. This is realistic and not the movie stuff which breaks like sand. I got a bottle on my head too in my teenhood. Got in hospital which few stiches. Bottle didn't break. I'm not saying Bottles didn't break. They break ! But not always like in the movies.
