    Next time dont use logs more than two weeks old, make sure you wax any holes you drill after placing in your dowel spawn. and to retain moisture use the wax at the ends too. old wood was already inoculated w something that had already been growing wherever that log came from, the second one was too old as well. when you have logs older than about two weeks you will have mycelium grown already that your mycelium will have to compete with.

      Thank you! They can take 1 year to bear fruit. But they will last for up to 5 years after that!

      The wax helps to cap it off so we would suggest using it

    this wont work for chicken of the woods, the logs have to be pasterized first, innoculated than incubated for months inside a onclave bag.
