This was a great run! I think the only thing I didn't like about it, was the fact, that you SOS-Chained for the Hidden Ability from Alolan Vulpix instead of catching the first Vulpix you get. But that's just a small nitpick lmao
Nah disagree. Much prefer taking liberties to make a run more fun or interesting to watch rather than following rules super strictly. But all personal opinion… each to their own… etc.
@@Clodnesia I wouldn't really say "specific Rules". There's the Standart-Rule, that you can just catch the first Pokemon you encounter on each route. Using SOS-Chaining would mean, that you encounter more Pokemon until you get one that has an Ability you want. But that's not really the point of a Nuzlocke. Obviously you can play with whatever ruleset you want at the end, but SOS-Chains are kinda agains the First-Encounter-Rule in my eyes
@@clanedogg1 Yeah, at the end everyone can play with whatever ruleset they want. Not trying to gatekeep, it's just my personal opinion. The Video itself was great, no doub!
I like alolan raichu the best, its one of my favs, bc when i played moon for the first time i picked it up and it did so much of the heavy lifting and i love its design
To the surprise of no one my favorite Alolan form is a toss up between Sandslash and Marowak. I like em’ all honestly, even long neck Exeggutor, but those two especially come to mind.
What a fun run!, and I loved the Hawaiian names on all the Pokemon, that was a nice touch. I don't know if you've done one, but it would be cool to see a Sword and Shield Nuzlocke with Galarian forms and evos.
@@NuzlockeJoe yeah idk Hawaiian either, but I figured that since they all sounded familiar, and judging by the theme of the video, it was very fitting, so nice job on that.
Only issue I had was the use of butterfree and chaining the hidden ability. However, its your nuzlocke and your rules. Always love seeing people going back to the Alola region
Yeah I know many people frown on that, since technically SOS chaining is not your first encounter, but I figured if I was gonna use alolan ninetails, I was gonna do it right.
Great video Favorite Alolan Form is Ninetales Would love PLA Hisuian only as have the best variants overall imo Can also count Kleavor and Sneasaler as variants as well as Basculegion
For Hao, I think it was more *both* of you beat the E4 at around the same time (since you could pick who you wanted to face rather than having a set path like Kanto and other regions) and you both managed to finish at the same time, so you had to duke it out for the top spot against each other. If it's NOT that way, it kinda screams Neoptism since Hao is the grandson of one of the Grand Trial leaders. You had to work your ass off to get there, he gets a pass as the 'final challenge'.
I'm not sure diglett would've been useful, despite being a steel type, alolan diglett (or at least every time that I've used it) actually has bad defense 😅
First time was Alolan Ninetails, I even bred a 5IV one for my eventual play through of the second half of the SV DLC. But surprisingly, my Spanish Alolan Muk came in quite handy in those SV raids. Has a weird nickname of Donpepes but he's cool.
Easiest for me is Alolan Raichu which will be getting a video *wink wink* very soon, which for SOME REASON you didn't get a Pichu for in the first grass patch. Glad you got it later.
I could have for sure, but at the start I hadn't yet decided if I was going to allow piichu or pikachu at the begining, since he is not an alolan form. I eventually did though, and could have gotten one at the very start. But it all worked out.
The reason why Hawlucha outspeed Raichu is that Hawlucha has a higher base speed at 118 and Raichu has 110. This is why I check the stats on every Pokemon I fight before the battle.
That's true, but my raichu was decently fast, and had enough speed EVs to outspeed a regular hawlucha. Of course, that assumes he doesnt have a speed nature, or EVs himself which turned out to NOT be true...
Yeah I could have, but initially I wanted to only use alolan forms of pokemon. Meaning I could only get piichu once I had a thunderstone, but I realized the first kahuna battle would have been horrible without pika.
In that case, I'm sorry you didnt get to see that much of the rat. If he had had guts, I know he would have been a staple on my team. I'm obsessed with that ability
@@NuzlockeJoe it’s all good, that’s about how that goes without that ability lol but yea no doubt, guts is such a good ability. I’m running Kantonian guts Raticate in White 2 right now and it’s just a monster
My favourite is Alolan Muk. Only cause of the typing. Dark/Poison. Only weak to Ground moves. Types belonging to Skuntank and Drapion before the fairy type and Alolan Muk after the fairy type. I just love Pokemon with only one Weakness like Pure Electric Types, Pure Normal Types, Water/Ground Types, etc.
@ yeah that’s fair. There are better Poison and Dark Types. Like Umbreon and Tyranitar for Dark. Can’t really think of Poison Types. Just too many to choose from
No I didn't, and I'm sure that's where it went wrong. I typically use the Bulbapedia walkthrough for my runs, because I like the layout and format, but it does NOT have EV or nature information for opposing pokemon.
I prefer Alolan Vulpix (although I love them both equally), but I like Kantonian Ninetails more... Maybe it's because Alolan Ninetails' hair is all wavy and doing that Princess Celestia thing, but Kantonian just keeps it nice and tidy also Alolan Meowth is...kinda cute...maybe because it's just a grey meowth? (Alolan Persian on the other hand, looks more like hapsburg Persian with that weird head shape)
Though not official, he could have kept the Litten as an Alolan Sprigatito/Meowscarada Also, one can argue that Necrozma can be an Alolan Kuryem due to sharing the ability to absorb (fuse with) the box art legendaries
I agree with you Joe Alolan Ninetails is my favorite Alolan variant.
This was a great run! I think the only thing I didn't like about it, was the fact, that you SOS-Chained for the Hidden Ability from Alolan Vulpix instead of catching the first Vulpix you get. But that's just a small nitpick lmao
Yeah I get that. I know it’s sometimes looked down on in a nuzlocke to do SOS chain, but I really wanted a snow warning ninetails
I've never really done a nuzlucke in usum, are there specific rules regarding sos chains?
Nah disagree. Much prefer taking liberties to make a run more fun or interesting to watch rather than following rules super strictly. But all personal opinion… each to their own… etc.

@@NuzlockeJoe it doesnt really suck but if you cant set up electric terrain it doesnt do anything but its already fast an strong
This is such a fun run idea. And the video turned out great

Unpopular opinion but Alolan Marowak is hella lit

You're the first person to recognize the names!
To be fair, I didn't know Hawaiian and had to look it all up, but I'm glad someone got it!

Can't disagree with any of that!
Great video buddy, keep it up
Loved playing moon and sun version with my wife she was so happy when i buyed her the games

Have you done the rainbow team rocket section?
I haven’t done any of the post game in Alola actually. Since I’ve only played these games for this channel, I never got around to it
@@NuzlockeJoe yeah not many people do them in the ultra games runs on UA-cam. I am guessing it would be very time consuming
Did you factor in opposing Pokémon's EVs and natures? That could be a reason why some of your damage/speed calcs were off.

Shiny Alolan Pixies will always stay my favorites. Don't care half as much about Alolan Tails though
How dare you!
@NuzlockeJoe it is beauty, and it is grace, but it is not as precious as Alolan Pixies in my eyes
Mine's raichu. I love it's typing and it's a literal surfing pikachu xD. Mind you It's more because of it's typing because design wise 100% marowak.
The psychic typing is a great addition
Ninetails, the rest aren't real.

Alolan Golem all day.
